It was Celia who woke up first, forgetting where she was or how she ended up there.
With a few slow blinks, she reoriented herself.
She could feel a warm body next to her and, in her tired daze, she cuddled up to it more, loving the warmth it provided. Robert wasn't much of a cuddler. It was always a treat when he sought physical affection from her.
However, when she felt a sturdy arm underneath her head, she turned her head and, in what was left of the dying light in the fireplace, she saw the sharp outline of Callum laying next to her, his face just inches from hers. She quietly gasped in surprise.
She thought he looked youthful when he smiled but when he slept he looked exactly as he did when he was a teenager.
Seeing him in such a harmless state, she reached out and couldn't resist gently touching the side of his face. He had been confusing her so much lately. She didn't know what she was supposed to do with how much she cared for him.
