No matter how tired the princess seemed to be, the sight of Henry bringing her a large bag woke her right up. She was suddenly alert and the light returned to her blue eyes as she gave her attention to the knight she loved.
There was a fur next to her on the couch and she pulled it over her lap to keep her warm.
"Wait," Henry said. "Try this instead."
He unbuttoned the leather bag and pulled out a pale brownish grey fur that was rolled up. After tossing the bag to the side, he unrolled the fur.
Princess Marie didn't need to be urged further. She removed her old fur and tossed it back onto the couch before accepting the one Henry had brought her. She knew right away it was from the mountain lion he had killed. The thought made her nervous but the gesture meant a lot to her.
She looked up at Henry with wide eyes but they soon fell to her lap.
"The fur is so luxurious and soft," she practically whispered.
