The princess was inconsolable.
Henry had never seen her cry as hard as she was while she clung to him. He had to bring her back to the couch he had found her on since her legs had given out. She was easy to move since she had resigned herself to defeat. He couldn't imagine what was going through her mind to make her react that way.
However, he didn't know what else he could do to rectify the situation so he simply held onto her.
The knight was ridden with guilt but he didn't know what he had done for her to be so upset with him. He wanted to be there for her so she could get past whatever she was going through but his presence seemed to make things worse, but he couldn't leave her there in the state she was in.
