The rain didn't have any intention of ceasing.
In the distance there were cracks of thunder and the occasional flash of lightning but it wasn't near enough that anyone in the hunting party had to worry for their safety. The concern was the rain accumulating underneath the feet of the participants of the hunt that day.
There was a wives tale that kelpies could sense someone as they walked through their water but there was no evidence that it was truth. It was a tale to keep children out of the forests and water at night. Despite the lack of evidence, it still felt jarring to Henry who had decided he didn't want to see the kelpie at all anymore.
The fine fur he promised the princess would have to be something else. He didn't know if a kelpie kept its beautiful white horse hair or returned to its putrid and algae ridden form when it died and was skinnned anyway.
