The knight stepped backward and away from the princess, his heart suddenly in his throat. His feelings were jumbled and, at being caught in such a tender moment, he felt irritated and protective. He turned his back to her but faced whoever was coming.
To his surprise, two blonde men appeared from the other side of one of the tall shrubs and stood in front of them with crossed arms and expectant expressions on their arrogant faces.
Henry had no choice but to bow down.
"Good evening, your highness," he said to the prince then turned to the other man. "Lord Ian."
He could have spotted Ian from miles away. Not only did he look just like Alix but Henry had known their entire family from a distance his entire life. They were cousins to his childhood tormenter, after all.
The princess came forward so she was by Henry's side and the other men wouldn't think anything of the situation they were just caught in.
