The moment he felt the princess's tears, his heart sank.
"Your highness?" Henry questioned.
"Marie," she corrected him but her voice was muffled.
She quickly hid her face in his chest, not wanting him to see her in that state. Incorrectly, she had figured that if she asked for a kiss, it would take away her sadness but it only made it worse. All of a sudden, she had to face the fact that he was leaving and she was going to miss him. The princess who had everything handed to her that she wanted was finding the person she wanted the most the hardest thing to attain.
If she were a man, she would be able to boss him around and force him to stay within her reach. How badly she wished the roles were reversed.
Henry didn't know what to do or why she was wasting her tears on him. Sure, his mother cried for him whenever he left but this one felt more unexpected. All he could think to do was wrap his arms around her until he could figure out what to say.
