The commander sat up straighter at the thought of the nobles opposing Henry as a duke and an evil smirk appeared on his face.
"They won't be able to oppose much with the king supporting Henry," the commander said. "You haven't seen the way the king acts around him."
It was true Alix had been away for a while. He needed to get back to the palace to gather information. Because of his father, they still trusted him enough to gossip in front of him openly. They didn't imagine that he used the information he gathered during those times to benefit his knighthood.
"That has to be due to the princess, correct?" Alix asked cautiously. "She can never publicly be linked to Henry unless he has a title."
