With the commander came a gust of frigid wind that felt like needles to Henry's bare stomach and chest. He could smell smoke on the commander and wondered if everything was put out okay after burning the monster's bones.
Instead of continuing his path forward, Henry took a few steps backward and the commander shut the infirmary's door behind him.
The healer returned after hearing the bell again but, seeing it was the commander who was always a picture of health, she bowed and walked out of the room.
Thinking that the commander was there to update him on the situation, Henry was shocked to hear a stern voice come from the commander.
"What the hell were you thinking?" he asked. "You weren't on patrol or guard duty tonight."
"I was training until late, commander," Henry said. "Since I was night patrol the previous night, my sleeping hasn't adjusted. I was headed back to my barrack when I saw the ogre skull."
