By the time Henry had finished helping with the houses, it was late morning and he was starving and exhausted. He had brought jerky with him but it didn't touch the hunger that he had from missing nearly two meals by that point.
The people had invited him inside their homes to join them for a meal, but he couldn't take food from them knowing that some of their food stores were damaged due to the bandits. He politely declined their offer and headed back to the walled part of Commander Lothian's fief.
He found it interesting that he starved his entire life but since he had adjusted to life as a knight where meals were always certain, he had gotten used to three square meals a day. He looked back on his past self and felt bad for how much he had changed.
Henry returned to the fortress just before the commander.
As he put away Melan, the commander was just entering the walled knights' area.
