Chapter 136 - Sudden Company

The commander knew all of the shortcuts and side roads that would get them their quickly. However, he didn't make a point to assure that the ride was the most comfortable, only the most effective. He got the princess to his fief in far less time than anyone else would have been able to.

He tied his horse outside and walked into the barracks and to Henry's door where he quietly knocked to not wake the other knights in that hall.

"Henry, we have a person seeking refuge," the commander said into the crack of the door, knowing that the knight would be able to hear him.

The princess glared at the commander's back for making her sound so pathetic.

Henry thought he was dreaming when he heard the commander's voice. There was another knock and he realized he was mistaken.

In a tired daze, he scrambled to get up.
