Henry had to pause in his journey forward as the commander finally gave him the important details of the test he was supposed to take for the king.
How could he be unreasonable to think that the king would go easy on him?
His eyes left the commander and he glanced at the fortress and then toward the outside of the wall which boasted a view of the plains and forest that disappeared into the thick, low clouds that once poured sleet. Suddenly he wanted to escape on the back of his horse and into the clouds. No one would hear from him again. He would figure out how to survive somehow.
Despite the train of thought, he was glued in place.
"Such a place like that exists?" Henry questioned. "Is this something I was supposed to learn about? Is this what the commoner's kids learn in their studies?"
He knew the commander was too realistic of a person to make up something like that.
