Chapter 106 - Doubt and Hope

The other knights couldn't help but notice that Henry was being quiet, though his mood didn't seem to be as bad as it was the previous evening. 

As he rode back to the fortress with the others, he was completely silent and his gaze never strayed from straight ahead. 

He wore the cloak that Alix had lent him but he didn't pull it tightly over himself. He hardly seemed to notice the fact that his body was cold as his damp undershirt clung to his skin. 

There were two sides to his brain: the side questioning the situation and the side wanting him to lean into everything he was feeling shamelessly. 

He wondered if he had misread the situation.

Wholeheartedly he wanted to believe that she felt for him the way he felt for her. It seemed that the moment she kissed his cheek before he left, his heart wasn't his anymore.
