"Is it really that bad? I never saw you so scared before. Not even when we were chased by anacondas deep in the jungle of Miraga." Marx pulled her close and hugged her as he patted her back.
"He is not a normal wolf, Marx. Didn't you see how huge and strong he was last night? His obsession with his mate has driven him crazy."
Marx hugged Amaya tighter. He could feel that her body was trembling.
"Don't worry. I will not let him hurt you. The defense system around us should be enough to deter or kill him." Marx handed her a handgun. "Here, you can use this for emergency."
Amaya studied the gun. It was a different model from what she had practiced but the mechanisms were the same.
"Remember that you should only pull the trigger once the energy shield is down." Marx reminded her.
Amaya nodded. She looked at the horses that were tied to the nearby tree. She did not notice when Vasquez had gotten the grass they were feeding on.
