The smell of blood ran through my nose as Ace cried in pain. Emma had tears streaming down her face as she screamed over and over for comfort. I knew that they wouldn't bother us as we drove out of town. Zombies roam the roads as the groups get larger by the minute. Mountain View should be getting close as we passed signs on the way. The hospital was their main base of operation there. They would treat them well as both family and friends.
Their gate was the same as it was made from both wood and metal from what they could find. Guards stood up top to make sure that there was no danger nearby. They seemed worried about us pulling up as they could hear Ace crying in pain. I stopped and got out to see if they knew who I was. Their worried look has gotten worst as they went to get John to let us in. All I heard was him scolding his men about waking him up after a night shift and not bothering him again. That soon changed as he saw me standing there again with a worried look toward the truck.
"Let them in," he called out as the sounds of them moving pieces of metal. We drove in and I looked to see Johns with a smile on his face. It changed as he saw Ace covered in blood as Hanna panicking about what to do.
"Get this man to the infirmary!" John called out. It didn't take long for a couple of them to take Ace, Hanna, and Emma in. John looked at me with confusion about why I was there and not at home. Jones seem to see what was going to happen as he placed a hand on my shoulder to say it is okay.
"We are going to Spring Field for a while," I said in a calm voice, "West Plains' base is being corrupt by Jade."
"I had a feeling you would be leaving from there soon." He answered, "But be careful up towards the city. Zombies are more frequent."
"We will," I smiled, but I wanted to make sure that Ace and his family were going to be safe there. I see that the area changed the last time I was there. Their gardens were now greenhouses, the hospital was a bit bigger, and the homes were larger quality than before. They seemed to be working on it the last time I saw them. Improving within a matter of days as survival is important to our world now.
John walked us to the hospital before we could make our leave. The sounds of Emma crying as Hanna tried to stay calm. I realized that they would be fine, but more suffering in West Plains will happen. John was making life better and giving peace to any groups that wanted to trade. There were rules of no stealing from other group's supply trains to one another as we are all in the same boat. There was nothing more than people trying to see about making offers of trade for food, water, or medicine. People seem more peaceful as there was no fighting or killing. Jones seemed to enjoy the ideas of peace and settling down for a long while.
I smiled as Hanna walked over, knowing that I was about to leave soon. She hugged me and said that we should go and find my family. I had never gotten to see them before and now I got the chance to find them. All I did was tell them to stay here and grow as a family and not let Jade rip you guys apart again.
"I wish you guys the best," Hanna smiled.
"We will," I replied, "and we'll try to come back and see you guys again.
