Chereads / Dark Masked Tym / Chapter 17 - He's a wizard

Chapter 17 - He's a wizard

The next day, after they took a second bath, and ate breakfast, they started on their journey once more, with Tym taking the lead.

The prince followed her as she galloped down the hills.

"We need to get rid of him as soon as possible." The head of the guard said as he watched the prince and Tym. He felt the urge to rip his head off his neck; however, he knows he can't do that in the presence of the prince.

Whatever they need to do, they need to do it urgently.

It's not something they can do in front of the prince.

"When we rest for the night, we can push him down the hill. This way when the prince discovers it, he will think he rolled down the hills, and broke his neck."

"Exactly! That's the best idea anyone has given me since forever. I will take it." The head of the captain smiled at the one who brought the idea, "you are indeed worthy to be a soldier."

"Thank you."

And with the plans made, they continued on their journey as they silently hoped the prince will request they rest on the hillside.

"You don't need to be serious all the time," Tym said as she watched the prince from her peripheral.

"And what's wrong with being serious all the time?" The prince snapped at her.

"You will get wrinkles before you age." Tym shrugged, "I'm only trying to help. But if you don't want it, all you can do is say so."

"I don't need your help." The prince snapped at the man, who doesn't seem to know when to keep quiet and when to speak.

"Whatever sails your boat," Tym said before she urged the horse to go forward.

By her calculations, it won't take them up to two days to reach the mountains of the dragon shifters.

That's why she's trying to push the horse as far as she could.

This way, they will rescue the princess faster, and each of them will be on their way.

"We will rest on that hill, tonight." The prince said when he noticed Tym going towards the opposite direction.

"There will be a rainstorm tonight. We need to go find a cave to rest tonight, or else we will be washed off by the rain."

"How are you certain there will be a rainstorm? Don't tell me you are one of the diviners."

The more the prince tried to understand the odd Masked man, the more complicated everything becomes.

However, he knows the masked man only has their good at heart.

If not, he wouldn't have said a word.

"If you don't belong to me, you can rest on the hills. As for me, I will seek a cave." Tym said as she urged her horse to go farther.

"Let's go." The prince raced after her, much to the disappointment of the guards who thought they were going to sleep on the hills.

This way, their plans would have worked.

"That man is a wizard!" The head guard frowned as they ran after the prince, who was galloping at a fast pace.

"Could it be he heard of our plans?" One of them asked as he glanced around as if he were expecting Tym to be behind them.

"That's it! He's a wizard. That's the only way he could have charmed our prince! We need to save our prince from his clutches!" The head of the guard said, with his hands balled into a fist.

"We shouldn't allow him to lead our prince astray. It's our duty to keep the prince safe from harm."

"Exactly! It's our duty to do so." They all nodded as they hurried after the prince and Tym who were galloping along with no care whatsoever in the world.

"Slow down!" The prince called out to Tym when he couldn't catch up with her.

Tym was so fast on the horse, it made the prince wonder how he was able to ride so well.

He only knew the masked man was good in battle, but never had he heard he was also good with horses.

"Why? Aren't you a sissy?" Tym scoffed.

"What did you just call me?" The prince balled his hands into fists as he narrowed his eyes at the masked Tym.

"Whatever your ears heard." Tym giggled as she urged the horse to go faster.

The prince huffed in anger as he watched the masked Tym. He felt like dragging him down from the horse, to show him who the real master was.

However, he restrained himself from doing anything that might make Tym change his mind.

Tym didn't stop as she galloped down the hills searching for a cave.

She might not have been here before, but she knows there must be a cave somewhere.

With this big mountain, there is a possibility of a cave somewhere.

"Wait!" The prince shouted once more, hoping he might hear his shouts this time, but Tym didn't stop.

She was more focused on finding a cave than listening to the prince.

The guards groaned when they noticed how fast Tym was going.

"I bet he's trying to kill us because of our plots." They narrowed their eyes at Tym who was unaware of the murmurs from the guards.

"I'd tell you this. He's indeed a wizard who's out to harm the prince!"

"Exactly! You hit it right to the point. Can't you see from the expression on his face?"

"But he's putting on a mask. How did you know the expression on his face?" The others turned to the one who just spoke.

"Eh.... you… It's not difficult to know the expression on his face! It must be hideous for him to hide away all the time."

"Well, that's the truth. He wants to hide, that's why he wore the mask. I bet his face is as hideous and evil as his intent." The head of the guard said, and the others agreed with him.

"That's true. Someone as wicked as him must have a hideous face!"
