"What does that mean?" Rain swallowed, scared of the answer.
"We need to take him back to his kingdom." Eve touched Lyre's forehead once more, as if she were kind of expecting a miracle. "I don't think he can survive if we don't take him back. The Mers will—"
Rain gently carried Lyre up from the bed. "What are we still waiting for? Let's go!" He teleported without waiting for his mother.
Had someone told Rain that he would one day willingly take Lyre back to the mer world, he wouldn't have believed.
But there he was, at the edge of the ocean, with Lyre in his arms.
"What are we doing next, mother?" Rain turned to Eve. He looked more than eager to get the show on the road.
"We wait." Ever strode over to the water. She bent and took a scoop of the water before she turned to face Rain. "How does Lyre contact his family?"
