Chereads / Demon Spawn: The Lord Of Darkness / Chapter 3 - Punishment

Chapter 3 - Punishment

Hearing his enemies cry for help as they burned because of the flames of the underworld was terrifying. Every time Asher came here, he would feel scared but he had to come here again and again because of these people.

The underworld wasn't any different from the normal world, on the other side there was cold, and on this side, the world was burning. It was painful no matter where he stayed, the skies of the underworld were dark and gloomy that had a purple and red hue to them.

It wasn't a place for humans to live, Asher finally sat down on a huge rock that was comparatively less heated because of the lava.

His body was already burnt and made him look hideous, he was feeling pain every time he moved. It took him almost seven days to finally bring all of the bastard thugs who had bothered him to the underworld.

Their punishments were similar, some of them were deemed innocent and received a minor punishment from the underworld but their minds were broken and they simply gave up on life after just a little torture.

Asher wondered, how was he able to remain calm. This was not the first time that it had happened, when his mother left him saying that she hated him, he was calm at that time too. He tried to ask her why she hated him but she just coldly refused to even talk to him. He had no option but to let her leave, any other ten-year-old child would have cried for months, However, Asher was able to move on in just a few days.

The reason behind it was simple, which was explained to him by the weird system that he had seen recently popping out in front of him.

=====

[ Name: Asher Flameborn]

[ Race: Unawakened Demon Spawn]

=====

Asher was surprised to find out his race, what was a demon spawn. He didn't know anything about it, he always thought that he was a normal human.

He clicked on the 'info' button in front of the race option, recently he has experimented a little with the system windows to find out how to properly use them. He had seen smartphones and it was similar to that, he didn't play many games but he had seen other kids play them.

[ You are a forbidden existence, having the body of a mortal race but the soul of a demon.]

' Soul of a demon', Several thoughts ran through his mind as he thought about various possibilities. He had always thought that he was a human but that wasn't the case. He was a demon having the body of a human.

' Is this why mom abandoned me? It makes sense, I would have done the same… I would have done the same, right?'

He was questioning whether what his mother did was right or not. Asher was a brave child but he was not devoid of emotions, he was hurt even if he was able to get over his mother abandoning him, it still haunted him whenever he was reminded of it.

' It was not her fault, It was not her fault.'

He couldn't blame his mother or rather he didn't want to. He loved his mother like any other child, hating her was simply an impossible thing for him.

*****

Winter was still here, it was hard for people to live during these times. There were several reasons, one of which was monsters.

At a frequent rate, portals will open on earth from different worlds and in these portals, aliens or creatures that looked like monsters would come out.

Many humans entered these portals to find out what was on the other end, and they found themselves somewhere on other planets in the universe.

These monsters weren't peaceful, they caused mayhem whenever they get the chance to do so.

Humanity had developed a technology that was installed in every domain where humans lived. This tech allowed humans to find out whether a portal is going to open or not, a few days ago they were able to find out portals frequently opening and closing in the southern part of the Gospel city.

This was the area where Asher lived and he was the one responsible for opening the portals to the underworld.

The human authorities didn't consider it a big threat as there were many cases similar to this that had occurred before. If a portal frequently opens and closes that means that it doesn't contain too much energy and since there were only slums in that part of the city, many people found it a waste of time.

Their main focus was on protecting the more important regions of the human domain than a completely insignificant one.

" Should we send someone?"

An officer wearing a military uniform spoke, over his uniform a black badge could be seen which identified him as a member of the portal guard force.

Two people were standing in front of his desk, one of them was wearing a lab coat and the other was wearing the same military uniform as the man sitting at the desk.

" Chief officer Gor, I suggest that you send someone." The man in the lab coat spoke, he had long white hair due to old age, and they were tied perfectly.

The man then handed another document to the chief officer.

" This is troublesome, so you think this is a portal to an undiscovered planet."

" Yes, I am sure about it. We should send someone strong to deal with this situation otherwise it might become troublesome."

" We don't need to send a force, only one officer is enough to go check the condition. There is a possibility when we reach there it would have already closed for good."

" I am not sure, I suggest you to not underestimate the situation."

" Doctor Mark, it's not wise. How about it? I will send our strongest newbie."

" You mean miss Yelena."

" Yes."

The man in the white coat gulped after hearing her name and then he said.

" I would also like to go see this portal myself."

" You are making things hard for me but I'll allow it since I consider that it is not anything dangerous."

" You don't know chief but I have experienced something similar to this in the past. I had always regretted that day and this time I would like to do something instead of only assuming things."
