"You're stronger than I thought, I'll give you that much at least, but don't underestimate the granite kingdom!" Caelum roared, his hands outstretched to the opponent before him, his Dewott bursting forth and unsheathing its shell to attack.
"Dewott! Night slash, go!" He commanded, his hands balling into a fist as his pokemon went in for the strike, already mere inches away from kenzo's.
"Dewott blocks it with a night slash!" Kenzo shouted, his pokemon quickly drawing its blade and sparks collided in the smoke and debris from the collision. The two pokemon gritting their teeths with effort, their feet digging into the soil to get some sort of advantage.
Kenzo's eyes watch the battle intently, his eyes catching the enemy pokemon sneaking its hand to its other shell.
"Dewott step back!" Dewott ears perked up at the command, springing backwards barely avoiding the blade that cut through the air itself, causing gusts of winds to spread across the battlefield lifting loose bits of dirt and debris.
"Don't let up! Dewott, use aqua jet!" Caelum shouted, watching as his Dewott pushed off, encasing itself in water as it gushed forth in a steady stream, the mere force of its momentum causing its body to wobble mid air but its target set.
Kenzo's Dewott watched as the copy charged towards it, getting ready to draw its blade but it was too late, they already collided.
"Dewott!" Kenzo cried, but stayed, watching as the smoke took its time to clear. His eyes widening when he saw it; Dewotts blade pushing back against its opponent, his grip slipping.
Dewotts eyes narrow with effort, its grip tightening against its shell.
Kenzo watched in awe as Dewott fought to push against the copy, an image of the oshawott he had met appearing right before him, a wave of nostalgia rushing past him as a smile graced his face.
"Alright buddy, we have one shot so let's make this count!" Kenzo grinned, his Pokemon matching his confident smirk before nodding, all sense of fatigue seeming to ease, his trainer's confidence lifting the weight off its mind.
"Dewott! Swords dance!" The trainer cried to the heavens, his hands balled into fists as he watched on, swords appearing around the Dewott even as he struggled to keep his stance. The ground collapses into craters under its feet from the sheer pressure of the opponent's aqua jet.
"That move—" Caelum muttered as he saw it, his hands stretched out towards his pokemon as he commanded it. "Dewott! Go! Night slash!"
The copy broke its attack mid air, spinning for momentum before colliding its blade on Dewott's shoulder, cutting into the skin but Kenzo's pokemon remained standing.
Seeing the pokemon's unwavering stance the copy stepped back, making space between the two.
"Dewott! Aqua jet!" Kenzo punched the air, his pokemon instantly following the command and pushing forward, encasing itself in a jet of highly pressured water.
"Cut him down!" Caelum ordered, his Dewott taking stance to cut the opponent the moment it got close enough.
"Like I'll let that happen! Dewott, aerial ace!" Kenzo screamed, and once Dewott was close enough the water dispersed along with his afterimage, leaving the enemy confused, looking around for its opponent.
"Now!" At his command Dewott hits the copy in the gut, the sheer force of the blow causing Dewott's gaze to waver, skidding across the battlefield before trying to regain its composure with its blade.
Caelum grits his teeth as he watches the blow land, though that look of frustration turns into a smile, a thrill, he can feel his heart pounding in his chest, his ears ringing from the sheer intensity of the battle.
"Great! This is great!" He laughed, despite the risk of losing on his shoulders, despite being out bested, he never felt happier. The crowd, if there was one, would have been holding its breath, but at this moment, it was just the four of them—Kenzo, Caelum, and their Dewott.
Kenzo's Dewott stood tall, its chest heaving, its shell blades gleaming in the sunlight. But its legs trembled, and its breaths came in ragged gasps. It had given everything it had.
"Can you still go on?" Kenzo asked, his Dewott looking behind him and nodding, despite its panting breath, despite its weak knees, it was ready to see this through.
Blue continued to watch from above, unable to keep his own curious smile off his face at the expense of the battle, watching as the clone rose once more, panting just as heavily as its opponent.
"Dewott, prepare yourself!" Caelum ordered, watching as his pokemon got ready.
"Dewott, let's do this buddy!" Kenzo cried, watching as his Dewott raised its arm and let out a fierce cry, clearly ready to continue.
"Gooooo!" They both recoiled their arms as they got ready to give their commands, their voices shaking the very earth they stood upon, eyes blazing to win, eyes blazing to see the results of their battle!
"Use Night slash!" They both cried at the top of their lungs, their command reaching the ears of their pokemon and in an instant they both disappeared in a flash of their afterimage, the winds around their bolting figures howled, the ground showing the footprints of their hastened path. Sparks flying as their blades collide repeatedly each side hoping to get a blow in on the other.
'Come on Dewott…' Kenzo thought, his teeth gritted with anticipation as he watched the battle from where he stood,
'Dewott, win…' Caelum thought, his hands turning into tight fists with anticipation as he watched the battle from where he stood.
Both trainers are on edge.
"We made a promise to each other, Dewott! Don't you forget!" Kenzo roared, a smile on his face as he watched his pokemon surpassed his limits. "We promised ourselves we'd make each other the strongest!"
Dewott kept going, his hands moving faster as the winds whirled past them, the words of his trainer reaching his ears.
"That means never losing a battle!" Kenzo cried out, his hands tightening from excitement, the memories of back then flooding his mind, the time they first set out on their journey and made that promise to each other.
"That means never giving up!" He continued, the battle almost unwatchable as their speed gets faster and faster. "Let's show everyone! We don't need a pokeball to have the strongest bond!"
Kenzo's Dewott cried from effort, the opponent's pokemon mimicking his actions until they both charged at each other, their blades primed and ready, the moment they got close, they struck, the air imploding on the force around them.
'I promise you all!' Caelum thought, watching as the battle got more and more intense.
"My people! I'll see my duties as king!" He roared, "The prophecy will be fulfilled, our land will rise again!"
Both Kenzo and Caelum watched with eager eyes as they awaited the results of the battle, sweat dripping down their brows.
"Let's make a promise right now Dewott!" The voice of a young Kenzo rang in his own mind.
"No matter what happens, let's be the strongest there is!"
"And once we become that strong, once we've beaten everyone—"
"Then we'll go our separate ways,"
"We're not trainer and pokemon, we're more than that, we're—"
The dust cleared and the copy was on the floor, Dewott standing over the body with a panting breath, his eyes narrowed with effort. Both trainers watched on with shock, Blue watching from the giant pokemon overhead with a grin that he could never wipe off even if he tried.
"Partners!"
