"It's been a day and he isn't even here yet.."
Erika said.
She was in her gym awaiting future challengers.
"Ma'am with all due respect…how do you know if the kid hasn't beaten you already?"
One of the gym trainers asked her as she waited.
"I'll know who it is…"
'A ten year old with extremely rare pokemon.' she thought to herself remembering the little information she was given on the challenger.
"But it doesn't really matter anyway..his time is almost up-" Erika stated.
"There's no way he can beat me before the end of today."
_________
"It's sooo hoot! Who the hell used sunny day!" I complained as the sun beat down on us like it was trying to melt us.
We were on the open field close to our next destination.
They're were practically no pokemon, the only pokemon out were either fire types who don't mind the sun or grass types enjoying the sun.
"We're almost there so just bear it for a little while longer-" Just like me Chloe was soaked in her own sweat and was tired.
We both just wanted to collapse on the floor.
But after what felt like hours of walking and torture we finally made it! Celadon city!
We both walked into the pokemon center looking like we traveled through ww1
And just collapsed.
___
"Man this was just what I needed!" We were eating in the temporary homes the pokemon center had!
I was stuffed and almost immediately fell asleep.
Chloe sighs when she sees my head hit the table unconscious.
"You're just hopeless…" she muttered to herself before dragging my unconscious body to bed.
She stared at me before leaving the room and locking the door.
"Honestly, how did I end up traveling with him in the first place…this was supposed to be a solo journey-" She muttered to herself, arms crossed and face red.
"Well… my pokemon don't count obviously..just me and them!"
Toxel looked at Chloe blankly with its tongue out as always.
"Stop looking at me like that-"
She sat down next to Toxel and picked him up.
"I don't like him like that, it's just…."
She groaned before playfully squeezing her lovable companion.
"You're lucky you're this cute." she said giggling to herself.
"But if not that…why am i here-"
__________
"Chloe….your friend there-" Mr.Fuji began to speak when they reached the final floor.
Chloe looked up to mr.Fuji to hear what he had to say.
"Take good care of him, he seems like a talented young man, he'll do great things."
Chloe rolled her eyes when he said that.
"What he is, is a dunderhead that never thinks straight."
"And he has little to no common sense." She continued to rant.
Mr.Fuji stopped at one of the three tombs at the far back of the top floor.
Chloe started on in silence as he paid his respects.
When he stopped there was a silence that filled the room before he spoke again.
"These three graves….were pokemon..my pokemon."
Chloe looked concerned.
"What happened to them?"
"They died in a war…a war of ideals."
"The war between Kanto and Jhoto?" Chloe asked.
"No, a war in the Kalos region…we were caught up in it and..my pokemon gave themselves to help me escape to Kanto.."
Chloe walked up to mr.Fuji to try and comfort him in some way but mr.Fuji denied it insisting he's fine.
"I've made peace with it now..You just need to take care of the friends you have now cause…when they're gone you'll mourn them for years even when you're close to death yourself."
Mr.Fuji gave something to Chloe.
It was the necklace.
"This should protect you on your journey..You and everyone you hold dear."
Chloe put it on and stared at the weird marble at the end of the necklace.
"Remember…keep your friends close."
...
….
"I don't want to lose him…"
