Chapter 9 - Hello, my name is Kamiyama Yuu, and I like Mora

Incoming arrow. Glide left. Cast normal attack towards archer. Hit confirmed. Hostile status unknown. Assume hostile is dead

'This should be the last hilichurl camp. Compared to the ones before, this one is certainly packed. Hilichurls, samachurls, there's even a mitachurl here. Not to mention the archers stationed on their watchtowers.'

Detecting a large amount of anemo gathering. Incoming anemo attack. Commencing evasive maneuver.

'As usual, prioritize their overwatch, and then the samachurl should be the next focus. So long as there are no ranged options for them, I can basically just stay in the air and go ham.'

Anemo caster located. Casting charged attack. Disruption is successful. Casting normal attack.

'Now that their ranged attackers are all killed, I can focus on the mitachurl. Some of the hilichurls are scrambling, frantically searching for something. Probably trying to find something to throw. The mitachurl shouldn't be able to reach me though, so I should be relatively–'

Projectile incoming. Commencing evasive maneuver.

'Fucking shit! You threw your own axe? Really?!'

Hostile no longer armed. Casting normal attack.

'Okay, I should probably stop referencing their attack pattern with the game. Almost cost me my life right there.'

Target killed. Four hostiles remaining. Flight mode can no longer be sustained. Initiate descent.

'Hmm, the duration of my flight is noticeably longer than before. This means that all the levitating I did throughout this entire commission is not wasted. Aerial maneuver is noticeably less difficult as well. At this point, I might be able to just fly towards the top of Dragonspine.'

Two hostiles remaining. Hostiles are within close proximity. Casting charged attack. Disruption is successful. Casting normal attack.

'I should probably consider diversifying my attacks. It's working fine now, but if the enemies are smarter, they'll start noticing a pattern in my attacks. And that's just asking to be killed. I should save that for another day though. Right now I should finish this commission and lay down in a proper bed later.'

No hostiles remaining. Extermination complete.

'But damn, who would've thought that I'd actually have such a great battle sense. I thought I wouldn't have inherited anything from this body since there's no "memories streaming into my head" moment, but hey, I'm not complaining. It's not the typical OP cheat that isekai protagonists get, but it's very useful for the weak me.'

All the hilichurls on this camp are dead. And just like the ones before, I destroyed any hilichurl-made structure to make sure that no other hilichurls can use it. I considered just leaving it there for another hilichurl to occupy, thus making sure the commissions keep rolling in, but that'll probably reflect badly on me.

I'm not that desperate. Not yet anyway.

'And that's four out of four.'

With that, all of my commissions have been completed

'Four camps took me somewhere around an hour? I could've gone faster, but I made sure to rest in between camps. No sense in rushing it anyway.'

Thankfully, the distance between each camp is not too far away. Since I can't use the teleport waypoint, it would've been a hassle if they were.

'Still salty that I can't use the damned teleport waypoint. No matter what I do, no matter where I touch it, it stays dormant. It's safe to say that only the Traveler can use it, and probably anyone else that accompanies them. Maybe through direct contact?'

While musing to myself, I levitated my way back to Mondstadt.

"Thank you for completing the commissions. Here's your reward."

After reporting my success, Katheryne gave me a bag of Mora.

'Two-hundred thousand Mora, for an hour of work. What a steal.'

"Thank you, Katheryne. Are there any more commissions for me to do?"

"There are, but they're mostly requests for gathering ingredients and whatnot. As for exterminations, the only ones available today are the ones located far away. One of them is in Stormbearer Point and the other is in Cape Oath."

'Both areas are on the extreme end of the map, huh. I could probably do it now, but the temptation of lying on a bed is too great right now. I'll just do them tomorrow, I suppose.'

"In that case, that'll be all for me today. Oh, I almost forgot! How much would it cost for me to purchase that learning materials you mentioned before alongside a backpack?"

"That'll be twenty-five thousand Mora, Mr. Yuu."

"Here you go."

After handing her the Mora, Katheryne went out of her booth towards the shop. Not long after, she returns with a book in one hand, and a brown leather bag on the other.

"Here are your items, Mr. Yuu."

"Thanks Katheryne."

Taking the items from her hand, I placed the book on my new backpack and took a closer look at it.

It's a brown sling bag, or more like a messenger bag I guess, with the cover latched onto an upside down triquetra. The bag is pretty spacious, and should be able to carry basic supplies if need be. That said, I probably should buy a sleeping bag just in case. Not that I plan to stay out now that I'm going to stay in an inn, but I'd rather have it and not need it than the other way around.

"Do you sell sleeping bags? And a firestarter kit of some sort?"

"We do. And it will fit in your new bag, so rest assured."

"How much will it cost me?"

"That'll be an extra ten-thousand Mora."

There goes my hard-earned Mora.

After making sure everything is in my bag, I make my way towards the inn. The place itself looks the same as the other buildings in the city, a standard timber-framed house. The only thing that differentiate it with the others is a sign with three gibberish letters that I assume spells the word 'inn'.

The interior design is quite similar with the ones in Angel's Share, with the lower part of the wall made out of wood and the other plastered, with the occasional wooden beam here and there, lit up by the sconces on the wall. There's also a chandelier in the middle of the ceiling, which, not gonna lie, makes the place look a lot fancier.

"Welcome, dear guest. How long will you be staying?"

"A week for now. I'll probably extend my stay though. Will that be okay?"

"Of course, mister…?"

"Kamiyama Yuu."

"Mr. Yuu. It's been a while since our inn has received a traveler from Inazuma. Especially considering their situation right now. What was it called again…?"

"The Sakoku Decree?"

"Ah, yes. I heard that leaving Inazuma is pretty much impossible, what with the great storms surrounding the country. It must be hard for you, huh?"

"Yeah… it does."

It's so hard for little old me to fly from Starfell Lake to this City of Freedom. Oh, the horror! Can you imagine, lady? Having to levitate myself, in order to not tire my poor body, for fifteen minutes? Torture! It's torture, I say!

"Well, you must be quite the lucky one to have successfully left Inazuma. I hope you have a pleasant stay in Mondstadt, despite its current situation. Your total cost for one week will be fifty-thousand Mora."

"Here you go."

"Thank you. Here's your key. Your room number is 206, go right upstairs, turn right, and your room should be at the end of the hall on the right."

"Thank you, missus…?"

"Heidi. And it's just miss, Mr. Yuu."

"Ah, my apologies."

"It's fine. It was a long time ago."

After apologizing once more, I walk upstairs towards my room.

The room itself is moderate in terms of size. There's a window on the left side of the room, giving me a view of Marjorie's souvenir shop, the bed is located right across, with a nightstand to its right. There's also a dresser near the nightstand, but most importantly…

'Holy mother of God, an en-suite bathroom. With running water and a proper toilet to boot.'

The best I was hoping for was maybe a public bathroom, but boy am I glad I was wrong.

'As for bathing, there only seems to be a large bucket and a water scoop, but that's fine. That's how it was for me back when I was a kid.'

After putting down my bag and putting my masks on the nightstand, I dematerialize my hat and lay down on the bed.

'It's not even midday and I'm already feeling tired.'

I decided to just take a short nap, enjoying the sensation of this soft bed.

'How I miss this feeling.'
