Chapter 64 - Playing Hero

"Big brother! You sneaky fucking bitch! I'll make you pay for killing my big brother!"

The second guard took his hand out of his pants and dashed towards Witney who still had her hand plunged into the first guard's chest. The horny guard was too enraged to notice any of the youth's cultivation, since they were so young he instinctively thought that they were still in the foundation establishment realm. Breaking through to the Mortal Ascension Realm on this planet required time, effort and a high degree of luck. The fact that the highest cultivation known to this world was the mana body stage spoke volumes about how underdeveloped this world was, but the oceans of this world were perfect for growing vegetation that the alchemists in the Cloud Haven Sect regularly use for their concoctions.

Thus the residents of this world were being employed to grow these plants and harvest them for the Cloud Haven Sect. Although they paid a hefty sum for this planet, they could easily make the money back in just over a thousand years. The Cloud Haven Sect was not the only one who bought smaller, less developed planets for their gain, practically every large sect situated on Noblia World owned dwarf planets and small-sized planets.

This guard was merely at the Qi flow stage. With a flick of her hand, Witneys Supreme Qi blasted against the approaching guard, exploding his upper body into smithereens. Witney was able to recently break through into the Supreme stage. Although she has not yet undergone the Supreme Qi body refinement since she has only filled around 65% of her Dantian, and she just used 2% to kill the guard leaving her Dantian 63% full now.

'Ugh, that was a few hours' worths of cultivation wasted on a scrub.'

Witney shook off the body of the first guard and cleaned her hand with a napkin she took from her spatial ring. Not wanting anything to do with these two guards, she used her basic fire Will to burn the napkin into nothingness.

Looking back and seeing the terrified faces of her teammates, a feeling of guilt emerged in her heart. Her father had taught her, and constantly reminded her to be ruthless towards her enemies because if you're not, then it's likely you will be the one going 6 feet under instead of them.

"Ahaha, sorry about that…uhm why don't we enter the city before anyone notices us." She awkwardly apologised before changing the subject.

"Ye-yes let's get moving." Hassan and the others followed her lead into the city.

2 weeks later and a new name was being sung by those of the Ostris Nation.

'The 6 heroes of Salvation' was the name constantly on the minds and tongues of these citizens.

City after city was being cleansed from the stench of those vile cultivators. They came like a tidal wave and wherever they went they drowned those with hope and belief.

In just two weeks, they drove out the rapists and murderers until their only stronghold that remained was the capital city.

Led by a veiled woman, they gave the nickname 'Lady Salvation', the 6 heroes chose new local city lords that could be trusted and were responsible enough to manage these cities. The nation was on the verge of revival and with only one more city left to recover, spirits were high among the citizens.

Outside of the city walls of the Capital City of the Ostris Nation, Witney and her team stood tall. Behind them, an army of 2 000 cultivators ranged between the Dantian awakening stage and the Elemental Manipulation stage. The group of 6 had gained quite the following, picking up whoever wanted to fight into their impromptu army.

"Mr Jade Flash, why is Lady Salvation waiting out here? Shouldn't we be breaking into the city to take down those thugs?"

One of the Elemental stage cultivators asked Hassan who received the title 'Jade Flash' due to his rapid striking speed, green eyes and his green hair.

At first, he hated the name, but it gradually grew on him as time passed.

The man who spoke could be considered something like a Captain in the army so he was not afraid of asking a question or two.

"This city is not like the others. Its walls are higher, thicker and sturdier, its army larger and all the strongest members of the Damned and the Beautiful gang are behind those walls. It will not be easy to overrun this city, far from it."

The captain had a look of realisation. Although a native of the Ostris Nation, he had never been to the Capital city before so he was clueless about its defences, layout and such. His admiration for the 6 Heroes of Salvation only increased. They were not only powerful but performed meticulous planning and never underestimated their opponents.

"Everybody get into defensive positions!" Cora Andrews, also known as Beloved Swallow to those of the Ostris Nation, shouted and like a trained army, everyone got into positions without delay.

Shield warriors stood vanguard with close and medium-range weapon users behind them. At the rear were the archers and watching over everyone was the 6 Heroes of Salvation.

Witney stared at the top of the 20-metre-tall wall through her veil with indifferent eyes. These two weeks have opened her eyes to the cruelty of those in the cultivation world. Sometimes the world wasn't all sunshine and rainbows.

5 figures soon appeared on the top of the city walls, looking down at the army of over 2 000 men and women. Each of the 5 men wore similar outfits except for the colour schemes. Each wore a black top hat of different sizes, an elegant coat over a classy vest and a white button-up shirt with a loose collar. High-tailored plaid pants and stylish black boots finished off their outfits.

"My my my…what do we have here. Such a large audience, I think I might get stage fright." The man wearing a purple coat and vest said while acting coy. He had a freshly shaven face with well-defined facial features and brown eyes that contained a playful glint.

"Gegege, I was in the middle of playing with a pair of sisters, so let's make this quick. I'm getting blue balled over here." This time it was a man wearing a green coat and vest. His skin was like dark chocolate and he was taller than the 4 others. He had charming silver eyes and a goatee which emphasised his sharp jawline and his above average size nose.

"Tyrone, do you still have that sister fetish? I know your sister raped you when you were young and it was the best experience you've ever had, but you've got to move on. It's not good for you." The man wearing purple put a hand on Tyrone's shoulder and gave him advice like an older brother would to his little brother.

"What are you talking about man? You're the one with a cuckold fetish, if anyone should get some help it's you."

"It's an acquired taste, my friend. Once you get older you come to enjoy the taste of married women and the thrill of their suppressed moans as they get pounded in front of their husbands."

"You're crazy man."

While the two men chatted away, treating Witney and her group like a minor inconvenience, Witney already took out a weapon that she hasn't used since joining the Cloud Haven Sect.

A pair of haladie daggers.

It was a gift from her father before joining the Cloud Haven Sect. The deep red blades on either side were curved slightly and the handle was covered in a black rubber grip to make it more comfortable to use. The reason she didn't want to use her haladie daggers until now was because of its grade. The daggers were peak Earth-grade weapons that some Inner Haven disciples would drool over.

Tyrone and the purple-dressed man ended their argument, turning their attention to the casually dressed woman with a black veil covering her face. They could feel her fighting spirit flare and the air around her changed.

"So that is the so-called Lady of Salvation I've been hearing all about huh?" The man dressed in blue mumbled with a pensive expression on his face. He had the smallest top hat on and a pair of reading glasses which were just for aesthetics. Long brown hair cascaded down his back and compared to his 4 colleagues he had the most average facial appearance.

"Ramello what do you think of the others?" The man in the middle of the 5 asked the glasses-wearing cultivator. The man wore a black coat and yellow vest. His large top hat stood proudly on top of his head filled with long wavy black hair. He had an anchor beard that rounded off his rough, masculine facial features.

Ramello thought for a little while before answering without taking his eyes off Witney and her team standing right at the back of the army.

"All 6 of them are certainly dangerous, but I'm confident we can take them one on one." Ramello shared his thoughts with the oldest and also the top leader of their gang.

"I'm not so sure about that…" his words trailed off as he contemplated on some information that he seemed to have forgotten. But no matter how hard he tried to remember he just could not, he knew there was something amiss in this situation but he couldn't put his finger on it.

Instead, he threw the thought to the back of his mind and concentrated on the situation at hand. Lifting his arm, he looked at the army in front of him with a mocking gaze. 'So what if you have a large army, good luck trying to siege these walls.'

The impromptu army looked up with trepidation as they saw hundreds of gang members suddenly mount the wall. They had crossbows and bows, with the close-range fighters using the crossbows since it was easier to use.

"This is quite the army you have managed to put together, Heroes of Salvation. But I wonder…how long it would take for their resolution to shatter." The man dressed in black spoke unhurriedly and loud enough for all those beneath him to clearly hear.

As if rehearsed, those on the wall all tossed 3-4 round objects at those on the ground.

"Shields up!" A captain on the ground ordered and all those with shields raised them to form an impregnable wall of defence.

*thud* *thud* *thud* *thud* *thud* *thud*

Dull thud sounds echoed throughout the battlefield. Those standing behind the shield wall looked on with horror and disbelief.

Thousands of decapitated heads rained down onto the shields, bouncing off them before rolling to the feet of the close and mid-range combatants.

Some soldiers resisted the urge to scream in horror, some threw up last night's dinner and some directly fainted.

Those on top of the wall either grinned or laughed after seeing this pathetic behaviour of a so-called army. Their leaders were right. This wasn't an army but a bunch of clowns playing army. There was nothing to fear.

Witney's and her team frowned witnessing this gang's despicable actions. They spotted the heads of young children and women being tossed, but they understood that all was fair in war. They couldn't afford to lose their cool now otherwise the battle was lost before it even started.

"Witney, what should we do?" Protea asked, she wasn't the least bit disturbed by the sight of thousands of decapitated heads. These past two weeks, similar to Witney, had opened her eyes to humanity's cruelty.

"Forget about these pretend soldiers. From the start this has been our mission and our mission alone, we never intended to use them anyway. Hassan, Brian, and Protea, you three will deal with the scrubs on the wall. Myself, Brandon and Cora will handle those 5 leaders until you are finished then we will kill them together. Simple." She scrapped the complicated plan they had come up with beforehand using the numbers of the army to their advantage, but after seeing their weak mentality Witney decided to scrap it. She's a straightforward woman so these intricate plans didn't suit her anyway.

Already accustomed to her simple yet effective plans, the 5 others nodded and readied for battle.

"Ready?"

"Ready!" They all shouted and without further delay, they made their way to the city wall.

"Fire at them!" The black-dressed man ordered and those with crossbows and bows volleyed arrows at the quickly approaching 6 youths.

"Hassan!"

"On it!"

Hassan's Qi circulated through his meridians as he pushed forwards with his hand and muttered the name of his defensive technique.

"Gale wall."

A heavy gust of wind blew outward from Hassan's hands. The strong winds formed an ethereal wall that easily pushed back all the arrows heading in his vicinity.

"Split now!" Witney ordered and the group immediately broke off into 3 directions. Hassan went left, Brian and Protea went right and the remaining 3 remained centre.

The 20-metre tall walls posed little threat to these young cultivators as they scaled it with ease. Landing in front of the black-clothed man, Witney skilfully twirled her haladie daggers around her fingers while keeping her eyes trained on the man. Not far away, Cora and Brandon each distracted 2 of the leaders while Hassan, Brian and Protea wreaked havoc on the scrubs.

"You've ruined the lives of many innocent people and I'm here on their behalf to enact retribution."

"Young lady this is just the world we live in. The weak are stepping stones for the strong. No matter how much you play hero, nothing will change."

The two glared at each other without so much as blinking. This was merely the calm before the eventual storm.
