Dontrall's thoughts weren't his own as many disciples and those from Grimdale thought the same.
Hiromi's pupils heavily constricted when she saw the massive head of a snake slither onto the battlefield from the forest. Its movements were slow but deliberately done so. It was openly mocking them as if saying they weren't worth its time for it to take them seriously.
Its body seemed never-ending, its scales shone in multitudes of different lights, but the base colour was a creepy grey. Its eyes on the sides of its head were a deadly yellow with thin vertical slits. Now and then, its enormously large tongue would poke out its mouth before receding.
"What-what kind of beast is this?" She asked the closest person to her which was Dontrall.
"It's a Wyrm. They share blood with dragons, similar to Wyverns and Drakes. This is still a young one, but they can grow strong enough to give even the Inner Haven Elders a good run for their money."
Dontrall patiently explained, but Hiromi could hear the fear in his voice. She didn't mock him for it, she was practically shaking in her boots. Hiromi turned her head towards her sister, standing not far away from her, and saw how pale her face was and the quivering of the crossbow in her hands.
The only 2 people who didn't seem bothered by the appearance of the Wyrm were a tall man with long black hair and unearthly handsome looks. He was currently using a late Beta-stage rhino as a punching bag, he found its hide to be extremely tough and he enjoyed the challenge of wearing it down.
The other unbothered cultivator was a breathtakingly gorgeous woman with fiery red hair standing on her mount's back.
"Hey Terra, are you ready?" Chelsea asked the red and yellow striped tiger.
The tiger growled softly, causing Chelsea to nod before turning to the Town wall.
"Dontrall, back me up and don't hold back!" She shouted at the depressed archer who nodded with a sigh while nocking 4 arrows into his longbow. He held no hope that he would survive this battle and even thought of retreating before remembering something important.
'How could I forget that she…'
Just as he thought this, an intense heatwave spread across the area. When Dontrall looked back at Chelsea, he saw her entire body go up in flames.
Her body was fully engulfed, unable to be seen through the majestic orange flames. Only those on the wall had time to admire the sight since the beasts didn't stop their ferocious attacks on the cultivators on the ground.
The gorilla had a solemn expression while the Wyrm looked on with indifference. After 5 seconds, the blazing flames slowly receded and Chelsea's figure slowly came into view with a few different features to her appearance.
Her hair was no longer bright red but a shade darker with some vibrant orange strands in between, and her once red eyes had transformed into a captivating shade of orange, complete with slit-like pupils reminiscent of a feline's. Her nails had extended in length, now curving like sharp claws, while her body had taken on a more alluring, curvaceous form with a remarkably slender waist. If one looked closely, one would see 3, thin whiskers protruding from each cheek.
"Wow, that's a bloodline transformation, right?" Hiromi asks while staring at Chelsea's sexy figure.
Dontrall glances at Hiromi from the side before looking at Chelsea. "Yes, Chelsea has the bloodline of the Sun Tiger, a very powerful bloodline that's said to be just slightly below the weaker echelon Dragon Bloodlines."
"How is it compared to the Copper Dragon Bloodline?"
"Huh…oh, the bloodline of that Timore Princess. I would say that the Copper Dragon Bloodline is slightly superior, but not by much."
Hiromi nodded and thanked Dontrall for the information. Dontrall reconcentrated on the battle and waited for the perfect moment to make his move.
––––
On the battlefield, Vasari sat on the corpse of a large, 3-horned Rhino. Usually, everybody would be freaking out at the sight of a Mana Body stage cultivator killing a late Beta-stage beast, but everyone was either busy with their own battles or watching Chelsea, to notice him.
"Even with her bloodline activated, I think the second beast is still stronger than both Chelsea and her mount combined. Her only hope of winning is by stalling them until Glenn finishes setting up the formation, which should be soon. Should I perhaps help her?"
Vasari spoke to himself while swinging his legs back and forth.
"Agh, I guess I'll help out. I wanted to test out my short sword anyway."
Vasari made up his mind before he jumped off the Rhino's corpse and ran to the town wall. He quickly scaled it before dashing to where Hiromi was.
"Hiromi, I'm going to take Zephyr with me for a little bit, okay?"
Hiromi jumped in fright after hearing a sudden voice come from behind her. When she realised it was Vasari, she calmed down and nodded her head to his question. Vasari flashed a big smile before kissing her on the forehead. He ran to the edge of the wall before jumping as high and as far as he could.
"Zephyr!"
As he reached the peak of his jump, he let out a shout. Then, as he began to descend, he heard two loud booms in quick succession. Suddenly, Zephyr appeared beneath him and skillfully caught him, all while a bolt of lightning illuminated the battlefield.
"Let's go girl." Vasari stroked the Flash Thunderbirds feathers causing her to shake in delight before she flapped her wings and created her signature sound.
*Bo-Boom!*
Her speed increased several times as she flew over to where three beasts and a single cultivator were still at a standstill. They knew the first to make a move would be at a disadvantage.
Hearing the loud bangs of thunder and a bright flash of light appearing above them, they looked up to find a human male jumping off a bird with dark blue and purple feathers. The male had a crazy smile on his face as he free-fell from a height of over 2 000 metres above the ground.
Chelsea's slit pupils widened when she saw who was falling.
'W-what is he doing!?'
Not just Chelsea but nearly every cultivator viewing the battle between Chelsea and these peak Beta-stage beasts couldn't believe their eyes.
"Holy Shit, Vasari is fucking crazy!"
"Did he eat too much dirt this morning, what the hell?"
DT and Jaxon were too far away to see clearly, but they knew the figure was definitely Vasari. Not far away, Hiromi, Kurumi and Dontrall were left speechless. The latter even dropped his longbow unconsciously.
'Haha, this is what it means to live! This is the life of a cultivator!' Vasari laughed joyously in his thoughts as he enjoyed the wind flowing through his hair. This moment took him back to when he was transported to Planet Voxotis.
When he fell a thousand metres, Vasari took his short sword from his spatial ring and held it in his right hand above his head.
The menacing black short-sword struck fear into anyone who saw it, no matter if they were at the peak of the Nebula Realm or in the Mortal Ascension Realm. The purple and cyan hues on the blade's edges added a touch of beauty, but none had the composure to admire it.
Vasari circulated his Mana according to the method he learnt from the Savage Spartan Sabre Art and using his Advanced Sword Will, he swung down with all his strength.
'Savage Spartan: Discipline.'
A pitch-black crescent of energy shot out from the blade and with tremendous speed, it travelled towards the Gorilla.
The Gorilla snorted in contempt seeing the attack heading his way. His hair once again hardened and shone in a silver light as he prepared to defend the attack, however, before he could lift his arms above his head a stupidly heavy pressure descended upon his body.
'Savage Spartan: Obedience.'
The Gorilla exerted great effort as his feet sank into the ground, and he gritted his teeth in determination. Using all his might, he was able to lift both his arms above his head to block the attack.
The black crescent crashed against the gorilla's arms, but it barely made him flinch. The attack was strong, but his defence was even stronger. The crimson rain attack he faced earlier was much stronger compared to this attack. Suddenly the gorilla's expression turned into one of horror. Looking at his arms, he watched his prized silver hair that had just come into contact with the black crescent slowly fade out of existence.
After his silver hair vanished into thin air, he felt his thick skin slowly evaporate from existence. The Gorilla felt no pain, only a deep indescribable fear. His beast's instincts suddenly forced him to look up, where he saw a smiling Vasari no more than 20 metres above him.
Time seemed to slow down for the peak Beta-stage Gorilla as the tip of the abysmal black sword neared closer and closer to his skull.
'Savage Spartan: Courage.'
The Gorilla closed his eyes and accepted his approaching death.
*SKSKSKSK*
Vasari suddenly heard the dreaded hissing of the Wyrm, and before he could stab his sword into the defenceless Gorilla's forehead, he felt a massive force smash against his body, sending him flying into the forest, smashing through tree after tree until he eventually came to a stop.
Those on the wall shrieked in horror when the tail of the Wyrm smacked Vasari away like a ping-pong ball. The sound of impact was sickening, and some could even hear his bones snapping upon impact. Hiromi had tears falling down her cheeks and was utterly speechless. Her mind was completely blank and she was no different to a lifeless mannequin.
Chelsea tightly clenched her fists, causing her sharp nails to pierce her skin, but she felt nothing from it.
"You bastard!" Chelsea let out a fierce roar and burst into flames as she leapt off Terra's back. With her spear tightly gripped in one hand, she hurled a weighty hook and conjured a massive fireball that shot towards the Wyrm's head with a radius of 10m.
The giant snakelike beast unleashed a bright yellow fireball from its mouth, matching the size of the one aimed at it. The impact of the two fireballs created a shockwave that spread across the battlefield, wiping out all Adolescent-stage beasts in the vicinity.
"UUUWWWWAAAAA!" Chelsea didn't stop with one, but continuously punched out, sending a barrage of fireballs towards the Wyrm's head.
"I'll kill you, even if it's the last thing I do!"
She didn't know why her hatred was so intense at the thought of Vasari dying when she had experienced the death of loved ones plenty of times before and had grown partially numb to death.
Maybe it was because she blamed herself for his death, or maybe it was because she had come to like Vasari not just for his looks but also for his laid-back, charming and confident personality that she had come to learn about these past 5 days.
When she landed on the ground, Chelsea held the spear shaft with both hands and rapidly circulated her mana. Her body released copious amounts of fire energies and her slit pupils narrowed to the utmost degree.
"Spear of the Crimson Cloud: Blazefury!"
