"Huh? What are you talking about? Your majesty? My name is Vasari."
The 12th Spartan General kept his head down, but deep inside his thoughts, he laughed boisterously. This voice, this was the voice he had waited all these years to hear once again.
"Your Majesty won't remember now, but I'm sure you've had a dream or two about your past life. You might feel that you are not in control and just a spectator, maybe?"
Vasari's eyebrows raised slightly after hearing what the General said. "Yes, I've had a dream like that before, but I can't remember the contents of the dream."
The General smiled in relief as his patience and efforts were not in vain. This made his disdain for those who worshipped made-up gods increase even further. He only believed in one thing and that was the young man standing in front of him.
He faced a new challenge that was equally or even more difficult than the previous one. He needed to explain everything in a way that Vasari could comprehend. Although he had 30,000 years to prepare, he still struggled to find the right words.
"Your Majesty, I'm sure you have heard of the Chosen One?"
"Yes, I have." Vasari remembered Miss Covington's lesson on the history of the Cloud Haven Sect and how the Sect Founder fought against the Spartans led by the so-called 'Chosen One'.
The 'Chosen One' was portrayed as this ruthless person whose only objective was to conquer and destroy. He always instinctively thought this story was very one-sided and maybe things were not as it was taught. Now he had an opportunity to determine whether he was right or wrong.
"Well…in simple terms, you are the Chosen One, his reincarnation to be exact."
Vasari's mouth dropped in pure disbelief. Reincarnated! Him!? The Chosen One?!
To say he was shocked would be an understatement. But the more he thought about it the more believable it became. His Heavenly eyes and his unknown Physique appearing in the same body were too much of an impossibility to exist. Heck, his heavenly eyes alone were complete opposites to one another yet he managed to have both even though he couldn't use them yet.
The general raised his head slightly to view Vasari's expression and when he saw how quickly Vasari processed the information, he internally nodded in praise.
"I know it's surprising, but it's the truth. You yourself, told me to wait on this very planet for you. I also know about your Eyes of Boundless Creation and your special Physique, but I was surprised to learn that you have acquired the bloodline of an Imperial Dragon."
Vasari frowned slightly hearing the General's words. He only mentioned one of his eyes and not the other which meant that his previous self did not have the Eyes of Supreme Destruction. However, Vasari was more interested in whatever information he could get about his Physique.
"I have two questions. First, how do you know if I'm actually the reincarnation of the Chosen One and secondly, can you tell me about my Physique?"
The general thought for a little bit before answering Vasari's questions.
"Your Majesty, the answer to your first question is tied to your second question. You won't be able to consciously control it yet, but you will in time when your cultivation progresses.
The name of your Physique is 'The Eternal Chaos Physique'. It is a body birthed by an unknown energy that you named Primal Chaos and you are the only known person to have it. Your majesty did not tell us much more since you were still learning about it yourself, however, you did transfer a wisp of Primal Chaos energy into our bodies and it would react when you are nearby and using your Physique. That is how I know you are indeed The Chosen One."
'Eternal Chaos Physique? What a badass name,' Vasari thought. He was glad he finally knew the name of his Physique. He still had a lot more to learn, but at the same time, he was excited about it.
"I see. You still haven't told me your name. I heard Joanna call you Titus Rex. Is that your name?"
"Ah, I apologise Your Majesty. Yes, my name is Titus Rex, the 12th General of your army. You used to call me T-Rex in the past."
"Alright…I'll call you T-Rex from now on. You said 'us', does that mean there are more people who know I would be reincarnated?"
It would be very problematic if enemies of the past knew about his reincarnation. He knew he was still extremely weak and his previous self had not a few powerful enemies. Luckily T-Rex cleared up his worries with his next words.
"Only your generals know and we would rather burn in the depths of hell than betray your trust." T-Rex dropped his head once again and his voice carried deep reverence and loyalty that startled Vasari.
If all the soldiers in the Spartan Army were this loyal then it was no wonder why they were so feared. A small army completely united by the same goal belief was much scarier than a large army consisting of those fighting for self benefits.
"How many Generals are there, and are they still alive?"
"You had 14 Generals in total unfortunately some died in the final battle. However, some managed to escape, so I'm not sure if they managed to survive and are also waiting for your return."
"T-Rex, can you tell me the truth about the war? What was our goal? We didn't fight and kill just for the fun of it right?"
Unknowingly Vasari had already accepted the fact that he was the reincarnation of the Chosen One, however, he was confused whether that could still be considered his title.
"Your Majesty, it would be best to learn the past from your own memories since there are things that even I am unaware of, I am just a soldier who follows your orders. However, I will state that what they say about us is fabricated to make the public hate us."
"Then what can you tell me about my previous life?" Vasari inquired. T-Rex could tell that he was curious about his previous life so he decided to quench some of his thirst for information.
"Your majesty was the 6th child and the 4th son of King Leonidas and Queen Gorgo. When you were born the entire planet shook for 10 minutes and the sky turned pitch black. It was a phenomenon unheard of nor experienced before.
The entire planet celebrated your birth and when information spread that you were born with a pair of Heavenly Eyes and a special Physique, everyone started calling you the Chosen One. Before your birth, King Leonidas agreed with the Imperial Dragon Emperor that Your Majesty would be betrothed to the princess of the Imperial Dragon Clan to strengthen our ties. They could see the potential of the Spartans and wanted to tie us down with marriage. However, on Your Majesty's 21st birthday, they suddenly declared war on us and started spreading false information that we were evil cultivators who needed to be eliminated and the rest is history."
"Then did I die in battle?"
"Pah, how could we ever let Your Majesty enter such a barbaric place? And even if you did, Your Majesty would be so protected that even the Imperial Dragon Emperor would think twice before attacking you."
The pride in the 12th General's voice was unmistakable and why wouldn't he be, he was a General of an army that took an entire coalition of sects, clans and kingdoms working hand in hand to stop them.
"Then how did I die?"
"…"
The General didn't know how to answer Vasari's question. It wasn't that he didn't know how Vasari died, but he was just boasting how protected he would be on the battlefield and now he had to tell him how they couldn't protect him in the end.
"Just tell me. The past is in the past, there's no need to hide anything from me or feel embarrassed."
T-Rex lifted his head to stare at Vasari's face with his bright brown eyes glimmering with admiration. Although his face and body were slightly different from before, his mannerisms were still the same. He might not have that intimidating and suppressive aura that he once had before, but that will naturally come over time.
T-Rex exhaled a waft of anxious air before continuing.
"100 years after the war began, Your Majesty and your siblings were supposed to relocate to a secret location for a short while. It was then that your siblings took advantage of the remote and secluded location by killing you. When your father and mother found out, they went on a rampage to find your siblings however, they had completely disappeared.
Since they couldn't take their anger out on them, they released all their frustrations on the battlefield. King Leonidas made some irrational decisions coupled with the soldier's lack of belief, which soon led to our downfall.
It's fortunate that you predicted this might happen and told us, your generals, what to do after your passing."
"My siblings huh?" Vasari lifted his left arm and rubbed his chin. He felt no anger or animosity towards his past life's siblings and frankly, he couldn't care less. However, Vasari knew that if they found out he had been reincarnated then that could lead to potential problems.
"Your Majesty, I think they might have been jealous of your potential and the fact that although born last, you were made the heir to the Spartan throne."
"Oh, there's no doubt that's the reason, but why do it themselves instead of hiring assassins and blaming them? Oh well, it doesn't matter now."
There was a brief silence between the reincarnated Chosen One and his General, but it didn't last too long.
"Your Majesty doesn't have to keep your eyes sealed around me. I have already seen you use your Heavenly Eyes to create many alchemic products and weapons before."
Vasari smiled awkwardly at T-Rex. If he had to be honest, Vasari did not completely trust T-Rex yet, even though he said he would rather burn in Hell than betray him.
'Devils call Hell their home after all.'
Though he told himself this, Vasari couldn't help but think about showing T-Rex his eyes. He was the only one who could help him at the moment and if he wanted to do anything to Vasari, he would have done it already.
Vasari had almost forgotten, due to his subservient attitude, that T-Rex was on par with or maybe even stronger than Joanna.
"I'm telling you now that my eyes are different from what you've seen in the past. I don't just have the Eyes of Boundless Creation but also the Eyes of Supreme Destruction. And I can only open it for a few minutes before I have to seal it again."
While still digesting this new Heaven-defying information, T-Rex saw Vasari lift his right hand to chest height. He had his pinky and ring finger fully clenched, his thumb resting on his ring finger and his middle and index finger pointing up. He held this hand sign for a full minute before opening his eyelids and a wave of indescribable energy splashed over the 12th General's body.
It was gentle yet ruinous. Inspiring yet soul-crushing. Nourishing and at the same time noxious.
The energies of Creation and Destruction perfectly harmonised was too profound for the Spartan General to even minutely grasp even with his superb cultivation and his half a hundred thousand years of wisdom.
"It's…it's beautiful!"
