Chapter 10 - A long journey ahead

After advising the students and correcting any mistakes she saw, Miss Covington was finally satisfied with the execution of all her student's palm punches. She then ordered her students to practice their spinning heel kicks and told them to focus on their form before trying to add power to the kick.

"Vasari why don't you show me your heel kicks." Vasari nodded and performed a basic heel kick.

"Not bad but your head movement is a bit too relaxed ruining your body weight distribution and making your kick less accurate. Try stiffening your neck a little bit while spinning."

Vasari once again performed a basic heel kick but followed Miss Covington's advice and he noticed that his kick was a little more precise than before.

"Thank you for your teachings." Vasari clasped his hands and bowed his head slightly in gratitude.

"If you want to thank me, you can tell me who taught you hand-to-hand combat." Miss Covington asked mischievously. She was half joking and half serious since he had a fighting style that was foreign to her and that's rare considering her age and the number of cultivators she has fought against.

Vasari shrugged and answered without much care, "I've spent a lot of time-fighting beasts so I picked up a thing or two from them."

Miss Covington raised an eyebrow, surprised by his answer, "What kind of beasts did you fight? Scaled squirrels, savage hyenas or some crazed bunnies?" Miss Covington teased him by naming some beasts that even those non-cultivators can easily defeat.

"A dragon..."

"Pfft hahaha! A dragon seriously hahaha." Miss Covington burst out laughing, holding her stomach as she bent over. "There are only 2 dragons native to our Westernord Continent and both of them are Emperor rank beasts that are even stronger than the Sect Master. Surely not those dragons right?"

She was trying to keep a straight face but the twitching of her lips indicated she was struggling.

Vasari smiled and raised his hands above his shoulders in resignation.

"Come let's continue with the lesson and why don't you show me more of those moves you learnt from fighting a dragon." Not forgetting to throw a jab at him, Miss Covington got into a fight and waited for Vasari to get ready.

"You should know teacher...it wasn't just fighting techniques that I learnt from dragons." Vasari flashed a devilish grin as he dashed towards Miss Covington who seemed to be processing his words.

Her mind was processing so much information in a matter of a few split-seconds that not even a supercomputer would be able to keep up with it. All the information gathered about dragons instantly appeared in her mind and when she realised what he was implying she blushed slightly and 'accidentally' used more strength than needed to slap the incoming fist of Vasari which sent him flying into the sturdy wall of the gym.

Dragons were known to be some of the horniest magical beasts and besides their monstrous strength and unique techniques they were well known for creating the best dual-cultivation techniques but they were stingy and wouldn't share it with anybody.

Everybody in the gym hall jumped in surprise when a loud thud thundered throughout the hall and a tall, muscular young man was seen slowly getting up from the floor.

The youths turned to face Miss Covington but seeing her act as if nothing happened the youths got the memo and decided not to ask questions.

"Our allotted time to use the gym is almost over so everyone get changed back into your sect robes and meet me in the classroom in 10 minutes." Miss Covington ordered and disappeared from their view in a flash.

The students did as they were told and went to their respective changing rooms.

Meanwhile in a classroom...

"That was so sexy! Oh my gosh, why am I acting like I'm back in my disciple days? Grow up Samantha, he is just a boy." Miss Covington berated herself and promised herself to do better.

In the gym hall...

"Ouch ouch ouch I don't think she found my little joke amusing haha." Vasari chuckled bitterly while making his way to the changing rooms.

'Who would've thought that such a seductive woman like her would react like that, it seems that she hides her true self behind a false demeanour... what a shame.'

Vasari prided himself on his character-judging skills and he was rarely ever wrong in his assumptions. Well, it also helped that people would lower their guard when they were around him and it was mainly contributed to his looks although his presence was suffocating and heavy to some, it would make them feel a sense of reliability and safety, giving them an illusion that they could trust Vasari.

"Vasari, are you okay? You hit the wall pretty hard my man." Timo asked when he noticed Vasari getting changed next to him."

"I'm okay, might get a few bruises though." Vasari winced when he took off his shirt revealing his back to be as red as a strawberry.

"Man Miss Covington is ruthless. I'm glad she didn't choose me to be her sparring partner...actually, I take that back. Imagine getting hit by those small, smooth fists and getting kicked by those slim, sexy legs~ Vasari, you're so lucky, man!" Asher nearly started drooling when he imagined himself sparring with Miss Covington, completely ignoring the fact that her sparring partner was just ruthlessly thrown against the wall.

"Well, if you really want to, we can swap tomorrow."

"W-wait are you serious." Asher nearly choked on his saliva.

"Yeah, I'll ask her if we can change partners."

"Yes! Vasari, you are the MAN!"

Vasari smiled lightly as he heard Asher going around the changing rooms bragging to all the boys about the good news.

"For today's final session, we are going to go over the basics of the cultivation realms to give everyone a glimpse of how hard you need to work to reach the top."

Miss Covington was standing in front of the class as she began her lecture. Adjusting her glasses slightly, she eyed everyone in the classroom. This topic would either break or strengthen their mentality and heart of cultivation.

"First is the Foundation Establishment Realm which all of you should be familiar with. Next is the Mortal Ascension Realm which you are all currently in. In this realm, there are 6 stages that are important for the future path that you will take as a cultivator.

The first stage is the 'Qi Flow' stage where a cultivator fills all of their opened meridians with Qi. This is the easiest realm and it is only a bit time-consuming. The Yin Yang Control stage is the second stage. This stage requires a cultivator to be able to control their yin and yang energies inside their bodies. Although it sounds easy, it is fairly complicated, especially for females learning to control their innate yang energies and males learning to control their innate yin energies.

The third stage is the 'Elemental Manipulation' stage. A basic understanding of the four natural elements fire, water, wind and earth is required to advance to the next stage. There are also 6 other elements besides the basic four namely metal, lightning, ice, wood, darkness, and light. However, these are not required to advance to the next stage which is the 'Supreme Qi' stage.

By integrating your understanding of the four natural elements into your Qi you can convert it into a higher grade of Qi known as Superior Qi. Superior Qi is 4 times stronger than normal Qi and this also strengthens your body and the power output of your techniques.

The fifth stage is called the 'Qi Conversion' stage. There is an even higher grade of energy than Superior Qi...Mana. Mana can only be felt once the body of the cultivator has completely assimilated itself with Superior Qi however it is extremely difficult to initially control mana and sometimes a cultivator will spend years upon years trying to comprehend the secrets of mana and earn the right to control it.

The final stage is just a continuation of the Qi Conversation stage called the 'Mana Body' stage. By earning the credentials to control Mana, a cultivator needs to expel all the Superior Qi inside their body, meridians and Dantian and start replacing it with Mana. Mana is 10 times thicker and stronger than superior Qi, bringing a cultivator's body and techniques to a completely different level.

Once you have fully replaced your Superior Qi with Mana, your body will undergo a type of metamorphizes and once completed you will be able to enter your Dantian with your consciousness allowing you to break through to the next realm...The Nebula Realm."

The students stared at Miss Covington with dazed expressions. That was way too much information thrown at them at once. Only those who came from powerful families were not as affected as the others since this was basic information for them.

"What realm of cultivation are you at Miss Covington?" Witney asked after processing what Miss Covington explained.

"Me? I am a Cosmic Lord Realm cultivator the same as all of the other Outer Haven Elders. By the way, the Cosmic Lord Realm is 4 realms higher than the Mortal Ascension Realm." The pride in her tone was unmasked and she had every right to be proud of her high cultivation. There were only 100 or so Outer Haven Elders and she worked hard to earn that position.

"Anyway, I got nothing else planned for today so I am letting you leave early." Miss Covington announced causing a large uproar among the students.

"Now get moving!" Without having to be told a second time the students left the classroom and made their way out of the school building.

"Wanna walk home together Vasari?" Witney asked as she cutely skipped next to Vasari with Talia behind her.

"Sure." Vasari enjoyed the company of Witney and her energetic nature and who did not want to spend time with a natural beauty, well that is what he has heard anyway.

"I'm coming with too." Not to be left behind, Talia said as she quickly made her way to the unoccupied side of the handsome young man.

Watching the trio walk away 5 boys looked at the scene with envy-filled eyes.

"What does he have that we don't?" A tall lanky boy grumbled under his breath but because of the silence, it was heard by the 4 other boys.

"God-like looks, the perfect body, a deep charming voice and he is not a simp like you." A boy with a fade cut and dark caramel skin rubbed salt into the wounds.

"He also makes an amazing fried egg."

"Do you only think about food?"

"Do you only think about boys? Are you gay?"

"Say that again you dumpling-looking asshole."

Already predicting the next events, the 3 other boys left the school ground and soon followed the route back to their living quarters while the 2 boys left behind, one short and chubby the other skinny and tall, battled it out until the other classes were let out.

Vasari walked the girls home and instead of going back to his own house, he made his way to another destination.

He walked past many of the other students who wondered why he was walking back but nobody bothered him and he slowly made his way through the sect which was much busier than the morning.

The streets were filled with people, some wearing the white robes of the sect while others wore casual clothes. The CloudHaven Sect was not just a Sect but also acted as a city where previous disciples or the offspring and relatives of elders or current disciples lived and made a living.

Just like any other city, there were shopping centres, large buildings and many recreational areas.

Vasari enjoyed listening to the hustle and bustle environment of the sect. It was his first time in a city-like area as large as this and although he couldn't see his surroundings he used his imagination to get an idea of what it would look like.

He walked for a good hour and the sun was beginning its descent when he finally made it to his desired destination.

The Dark Winter field.
