Chapter 1 - PROLOGUE 1

And then, the spirit of all living things looked down upon the surface with agony, bound to the Tree of Life. The very tree that gave birth to her now constrained her with its thorn-covered roots. They say there was a hole in her heart—one torn open by the world of the living. Her limbs were missing, and her body was fractured beyond repair.

Whenever she bled from her wounds, her blood fell from the heavens to the world below as snow.

"TODAY, IT'S SNOWING AGAIN."

THE WEAPONOLOGY

DAY 1

12:48 AM – Phone ringing...

A woman picks up. "911, what's your emergency?"

Silence.

"Hello? Is anyone there? What's your emergency?"

A trembling voice finally speaks.

"Murder. I… I killed them."

The 911 operator, keeping calm, asks, "Sir, may I know who I'm speaking to?"

The man ignores the question. His voice shakes as he utters an address:

"17 Avenue, Memphis."

Then—click. The line goes dead.

Minutes later, police arrive at the given address. Inside, they find the bodies of a man and a woman, both brutally murdered. In the same house, they arrest the man who made the call. He hasn't moved. He hasn't run. He simply waits.

By morning, the crime is already making headlines.

DAY 2

10:00 AM – A reporter stands in front of the crime scene, speaking into the camera.

"The police received a chilling 911 call last night. A man confessed to murder before hanging up. Officers rushed to the scene, where they discovered two bodies—a man and a woman, both early-middle-aged. The suspect was still present at the scene and was taken into custody immediately."

She pauses before continuing.

"The victims have been identified as Adrika Ekon, the suspect's wife, and Carlo Evans, a man with no known relation to him."

"According to the forensic report, the killer used a putty knife to slit one victim's throat, then a hammer to crush the skull of the other. The suspect, now identified as Lobo Ekon, was immediately arrested."

10:45 AM – The same reporter, now in front of the police station.

"After an intense interrogation, authorities have revealed the suspect's motive."

She takes a deep breath before continuing.

"Lobo Ekon confessed that his wife was having an affair with Carlo Evans. He stated that, due to his late working hours, he never suspected anything—until last night, when he came home early. Consumed by rage, he lost control. Without hesitation, he grabbed his tools from his belt and used them as weapons to commit the crime."

"Lobo and Adrika Ekon had a five-year-old daughter, Lucy Ekon, who was staying with Lobo's sister at the time of the murder. However, during his interrogation, Lobo made a shocking claim—he no longer believes that Lucy is his biological daughter."

"Lobo Ekon will be presented in court within 74 hours."

"And... cut!" the cameraman says.

The reporter, Anna, sighs, rubbing her temples. "Phew. I'm beat."

"Well, Mrs. Anna, you did a great job filling in for Amanda," the cameraman says with a grin.

"She called in sick this morning, and I was panicking about finding a replacement. I really appreciate you stepping in."

Anna sighs. "I shouldn't have agreed. I haven't even had breakfast."

The cameraman chuckles. "I'll treat you later."

"You better," she mutters.

S/N:Anna is a rookie reporter eager to impress her superiors and secure a promotion.

"Oh! Almost forgot," the cameraman says. "There's one more assignment for you in Amanda's place."

Anna groans. "Seriously? I'm exhausted."

"It's just one interview," he says.

"With who?" Anna asks.

The cameraman hesitates. "A death row inmate."

Anna blinks. "What?"

"Amanda started the interview yesterday but left halfway through. If you don't want to do it, I can ask the manager for another replacement. But honestly, we're short on staff."

Anna exhales sharply. This could be her moment—the one that gets her noticed.

"No. I'll do it."

They get into the car, heading for the prison.

12:45 PM – After a long ride, they finally arrive.

Anna stretches. "Alright, see you later. And don't forget about that treat!"

The cameraman grins. "I won't. Take care."

As Anna steps out, she clutches the interview file and reads aloud:

"Criminal Name: Dominic

Age: 27

Family Name: Unknown

Place of Birth: Unknown

Total Victims: Confidential"

She frowns. "There's barely any information on him."

The cameraman shrugs. "That's all the authorities gave us."

Anna doesn't like it. Something about this interview feels... wrong.

And she's about to find out why.
