Chapter 9 - Show me What you can Do

"How did you do that, boy?" The old man was dumbfounded. It wasn't that the boy was lying when he said he wanted to reach the top. He had only meant to return the favor to Sicarius for flicking at his great granddaughters forehead. Unexpectedly the mon- the boy evaded that?

That was his air bullet! Very few in the world were capable of even imitating a fraction of its power and speed, and yet this boy who recently learned to talk dodged it like it was nothing!

"Do what?" Sicarius's violet eyes stared blankly at the old man's face, as if what he had done was no remarkable feat.

"Don't play dumb with me!" The old man howled, "How did you dodge that!"

"It's only natural for me." Sicarius explained,

"Bullshit!" The old man cursed but he knew for a fact that the child wasn't lying.

"I'm not lying mentor, I was simply born as a natural fighter." Sicarius again, answered dully.

The old man took heavy breaths. Why couldn't he detect a lie? Why was the kid saying nothing but the truth? How was that even possible! Could it be that he is truly the one to change the course of history? Or were his all seeing eyes going haywire?

"Venus, do you think grandpa is handsome?" He turned to speak to the girl who had already dried her tears and was now rubbing her forehead.

"I think great grandpa is the most handsome grandpa in the whole world!" Venus, replied,

That was a lie. Now he was sure that his all seeing eyes weren't malfunctioning at all. If that was so, then this boy before him was a true prodigy. The old man's expression grew serious.

'Train the boy already.' The old man heard a voice say, but it didn't come from the boy nor the girl.

Above the old man's head was a baby, floating in mid-air, watching Sicarius analytically with glowing eyes.

This was the old man's god, the god of vitality, Vitae.

'We know that he has no bad intentions and is truly full of potential.' Vitae's baby body levitated on top of the old man's head, 'Stop wasting all of our time and start the training.'

The old man nodded, which did not go unnoticed by Sicarius. He couldn't hear it nor see it but he knew there was a divinity here. Sicarius was not new to the presence of the divine and it was right atop of the old man's head.

"What else can you do, boy?" The old man asked,

"I can fight, and I'm smart." Sicarius answered,

The old man sighed, "Just show me what you can do. I need you to show me your limits, so I can train you until you can't move."

Sicarius nodded and paced towards the nearest training dummy colored with random scribbles.

The old man and Vitae eyed Sicarius with high expectations. This young child had surprised them three times now, first when he dared to tell him that humans will all perish, second when he managed to fight back against Venus, and thirdly and most noteworthy was his evasion of his air bullet.

If you were a young man then being surprised was no big deal, however, if you had lived for a century being surprised was a rare occasion. Not only did he have the experience to say that he had seen it all, he had the all seeing eye!

So when Sicarius started throwing punches and kicks at the training dummy and the old man couldn't see his movements, he went hysterical.

The years of training weren't for nothing. The training dummy was the size of an adult man, so the head was out of reach for Sicarius, however everything below that was being pummeled relentlessly.

Punch after punch and kick after kick at speeds that felt nearly impossible. The old man and even Vitae the very god himself were gawking at Sicarius while the young girl beside them couldn't close her eyes at the sight of Sicarius murdering the training dummy.

Dents started to appear on the training dummy's solid body and the old man couldn't believe it anymore. The training dummies were made with silicone adamantium, known for its durability. It boasted near complete indestructibility, and yet here it was being dented by a six year old.

As if keen on shattering the old man's perceptions, Sicarius leaped up as he sent out an uppercut, completely decapitating the training dummy.

Sicarius was sweating. He was still weak. After simply a few minutes of exertion he felt his tiny little body shudder from the stress. Just standing as he was after he landed that uppercut had his legs trembling.

While Sicarius thought he was weak, the old man thought the opposite. This little boy wanted to be trained?! Hell, he could teach a class by himself!

"That is all I can do mentor," Sicarius muttered still standing tall despite his legs threatening to give out on him.

'There is no denying it now. This boy is the destined savior of the Earth.' Vitae said,

The old man tilted his head backwards and took a deep breath. The situation simply meant he had to train him properly and as strict as he could to ensure that this little boy will not lose his way.

The old man threw away his surprise completely and identified the problems with Sicarius. "You fight extremely well for your age, boy, however you can not fight like that. In mere minutes you have exhausted yourself that your legs are barely keeping still. Until you gain the stamina to supplement that style of fight you must fight with restriction."

"How shall I gain stamina mentor?" Sicarius asked,

The old man looked him in the eye with a serious gaze, "You will have to climb the top of the tower, only using the elevators to go down so that you can climb again. Once you rise to the top I will have you perform advance combat drills with no rest, the only rest you will have is your descent on the elevator."

"Is that all, mentor?" Sicarius was still unfazed. He had climbed mountains taller than this very structure in his past life, this training wasn't a challenge to him, or so he thought.

"You have to climb while facing attacks from her. You will climb the tower together, if ever she gets tired and collapses you carry her until she can attack you again." The old man proceeded to point at Venus who was still staring at Sicarius like he was a monster.

"I don't want to fight him!" Venus immediately hid behind her great grandpops, "Look what he did to Ruffus!"

Ruffus being the name the girl has given her favorite training dummy.

"He won't dare to harm you like that girl." The old man reassured her, "The most you'll get is a flick to the head."

The two bickered again while Sicarius was in thought. A strenuous exercise on top of constant pressure to defend, would be a worthwhile training, it would be better if the attacker was someone capable, but having a peer of your same caliber would be useful in the future too.

"Shut it, girl!" The old man yelled, "Boy the training starts now take her to the first floor and start climbing!"

"I will obey, mentor." Sicarius paced towards the girl and carried her like a sack of potatoes as they headed for the elevator.

"Let me go!"

The old man along with Vitae merely watched as the two kids went out of sight. After a minute Vitae glances at the old man.

'Climb up the stairs? Really?' Vitae asked,

"Shut up and help me think of a way to train that kid!"
