Chapter 45 - Unexpected Encounter

"Don't worry about me, it's you, you should be worried about."

I frowned. She lightened up the tense atmosphere. I too resolved myself and decided to go meet dad at all costs. The chance of survival may be slim but there still is a chance and I will make it safely. I will succeed.

After this Nicola left the room and I spend the whole day reminiscing memories of me and my dad. I also packed my essentials.

Oh, I forgot another important fact. Earth currency can be exchanged for universal currency in any annihilator association. My dad had left me a fortune so at least I would have proper financial strength, I hope. At night, I fell asleep almost the instant I fell into bed. When I woke up, my whole life would change. I didn't know what to feel about it but I definitely wouldn't back down. A new adventure awaits me.

The next day I woke up on time. It was rather odd because this never happened. I got in my usual attire. Then I walked out. There was no one. Everywhere was empty. What was going on? I used my enhanced hearing senses to try to hear even a whisper from anywhere.

I got nothing. I ran out of the moonlight inn. There wasn't a soul to be seen. I ran towards the moon stadium. There was no one there either. I looked everywhere. It was all empty. Just as I was heading back to the exit I saw a figure above the tall tower.

I squinted. It was the master! he was looking at the stars as if he was daydreaming. I walked towards him. When I was about 10 meters away from the base of the tower he spoke.

"You are late, Tony. Everyone went to their squads and Nicola started her journey. Come on up here. Let me show you something."

How was I to get up there? The door at the base of the tower was closed. He looked at me from up there.

"Well, jump already."

I didn't realize he meant that I had to jump. I wonder whether I could make it up there. It was 300 meters after all.

However, due to my heightened senses, it wouldn't be impossible. I bent my knees and concentrated my power on my toes. Then, I bolted up like a hawk. I was gliding smoothly. It was so much fun! The fun ended when I was almost at the top. My speed gradually declined. I was at 280 meters. It was 290 now.

Oh no! I wasn't going to make it at this rate. I stopped exactly 5 meters below the peak of the tower. I started falling. Right then, green mist surrounded me and I was lifted up towards the master.
