Chapter 101 - Chapter 101 All Comes At A Prize

"Do you have a solution to deal with the issue of commander Nai's tactics?" chief Weng asked after he went through a few self-generated thoughts.

"Yes," Shung Yun said as he looked at chief Weng, "but it requires a certain prize."

"As long as it can help solve the issue of commander Nai's tactics and it's within an acceptable prize, then the village will be willing to pay," chief Weng said after thinking for a few seconds.

"The prize for the solution to commander Nai's tactics will be an orange rank inscription knowledge," Shung Yun said as he looked at chief Weng.

"The prize is within my expectation. He's planning to make use of inscriptions to amend the tactics of commander Nai," chief Weng thought as he looked down at the battlefield map on the stone table, "but the problem is that we don't own any knowledge in regards to inscriptions."

Looking at Shung Yun, he said, "the village has no knowledge of inscriptions, much less that of an orange rank. Is there a chance to request for another prize?"

"If it's within my power to choose the prize, I would take the village into consideration due to my loyalty. But the inscription to amend commander Nai's tactics can only be done by a senior in my organization," Shung Yun said as his words and expression displayed his helplessness, "but there might be a solution."

"Do tell," chief Weng said as he hoped to gain a huge advantage in the war.

"I'll shoulder the responsibility of providing an orange rank inscription knowledge to the senior whose inscription will solve the issue plaguing commander Nai's tactics. All I want in return is to have the villagers remember my contribution in the war that would've taken more lives if a solution wasn't brought on time," Shung Yun said as he caught sight of the flickering of chief Weng's brows.

"He still wants to be a hero at the end of the day," clan head Haoran thought as he heard Shung Yun's request.

As the clan head of the second strongest clan in Byui village, he was given the right to participate in drafting tactics and strategies for the war.

"If that's what you want, then I look forward to the wonders of an inscription," chief Weng said as he agreed to Shung Yun's request.

"He's really loyal to the village," commander Jian thought after watching the negotiation between chief Weng and Shung Yun.

"You saved the lives of over a hundred kinsmen by providing a solution to what I deem a necessary sacrifice. They'll forever be in your debt," commander Nai said to Shung Yun.

"I'm just doing what's expected of me," Shung Yun said as he got ready for the next round of negotiation.

"When can we expect your senior to arrive?" chief Weng asked Shung Yun.

"If we can get a message to him before today runs out, then I'm sure he'll be present within the next two[2] days," Shung Yun gave his answer.

"That's okay. When Quing Village gets wind of your arrival and that of Mr. Zui, they won't easily come to a decision to attack," chief Weng said with smile as the fog in front of him concerning the war finally lessened.

"This might give commander Zhu the chance to finally find out the reason Quing Village decided to wage war against us despite our similarity in strength," commander Ming said as she got an idea from chief Weng's words.

"I hope it does," commander Tian said as he looked at the figurines representing the soldiers of Quing Village, "whenever I think about the reason for this war, I would feel like I'm being suffocated in a tight space with no chance for air to come in."

"Do you have any idea concerning the structure of the tight space?" chief Weng asked as he sensed that commander Tian's experiences aren't just feelings.

"I.. I don't really know. It feels like am stuck, and no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to move my body. I.. It's like....," commander Tian's voice grew so soft that it sounded like he was whispering.

"…..a casket," a voice sounded softly behind Shung Yun before echoing around the tent.

Sharply turning his head around to see who spoke, Shung Yun was presented with minute movement of the tent entrance due to breeze outside the tent.

"Are you alright?" a voice called back his attention away from the tent's entrance.

"I'm fine. I thought I heard something," Shung Yun said to commander Jian before glancing towards the tent's entrance.

"For you to always feel that way when thinking about the cause of the war, it might be that the reason behind the war might be way terrifying than we thought," chief Weng said as he took commander Tian's premonition seriously, "I think we should seek for the help of other forces. We can start from your guard, Shung Yun. With his help in deterring the higher ups of Quing Village, we might be able to bring this war to an end."

"I don't think that will be possible, Chief," Shung Yun said as he tried to sound respectful, "Mr. Zui was hired to take charge of my protection during my stay in the village. Using him in the war will result in a lapse of security around me, which may lead to my assassination."

"With the help of Mr. Zui, I'll be able to easily defeat Quing Jong. Even killing him and taking over Quing Village will be possible," chief Weng said as he looked straight at Shung Yun, "take this risk for the village and your name will forever be mentioned whenever the villagers recall of this war."

"Give me a few days to think about it, Chief," Shung Yun said as he took a few steps from the stone table.

"Alright. I hope you come to a good decision," chief Weng said as he nodded in agreement to Shung Yun's request.

"If the goddess so wills it," Shung Yun said as he placed the back of his right hand on his left palm before raising it above his head, revealing the symbol of the tree goddess.

Nodding his head to indicate his understanding, chief Weng made preparation for the arrangement of a messenger hawk to deliver the request of aid from the senior in Shung Yun's organization.

After getting done with the agenda of the day, the meeting concerning the defenses of the village came to an end.

Leaving the tent, Shung Yun headed to his temporary resident as he prepared to write a message to Mr. Long, the middle-stage elderly man in his organization.

Finishing with his message and placing the folded scroll in the scroll storage behind the messenger hawk and giving a location to it, he left for the tent of his hired guard, Mr. Zui.

Sitting cross-legged on the ground in front of the upper-stage dantian unsealing realm cultivator, he asked him, "what do you think of participating in the war against Quing Village?"

"The darkness shrouding the reason behind the war is enough for me to stay far from it," Mr. Zui said to his contractor as he emphasized on the unknown dangers associated with goal behind the war.

"If I participate in the war as a soldier of my village, what would you do about my protection?" Shung Yun asked Mr. Zui.

"I would end the contract immediately and return the initial payment of the contract you've made," Mr. Zui earnestly to his contractor.

"That would be very boring," Shung Yun said as he looked at Mr. Zui. Staying silence for a while, he asked him, "what prize could make you ignore the hidden danger associated in the war and participate in it?"

"The knowledge on the history of Quing Village," Mr. Zui said as he stated his prize in a calm tone, revealing no doubt concerning what he wants.

"Quing Village has to be overthrown by the soldiers of Byui Village in order for you to have your hands on your prize," Shung Yun said as he mentioned the difficulty of acquiring Mr. Zui's prize.

"Make a sealed pact in the name of any of the true deities that my reward will be paid in full after Quing Village is captured. It doesn't matter if it happens today, tomorrow, or even in the next decade. But as long as you draw breathe, you'll make efforts to acquired my prize," Mr. Zui said as he gave his condition in regards to participating in the war due to the nature of his prize.
