"We're still too late," Zhou Yao said before launching the fiery beacon into the sky, calling for Feng Bo and others.
Looking at the hands on the sand hill after hearkening to Zhou Yao's call, Feng Bo stayed silent before looking at the individual kneeing in front of them, "I wonder how he offended such a character."
Done with his heartfelt promise to the two[2] severed hands, Wang Li kept them in his storage ring before picking up the paper left for him.
"Beautiful, isn't it? In a land so deserted and alone, two[2] hands came together in unity and love, showcasing the kindness and care they had for one another even in the face of death. If only the renowned valley of darkness could let go of the past and transcend the chains of fog caused by the dissipation of the myriad souls, then even the unique body present will be accommodated."
"It's finished?" he looked stunned as he turned the paper about, seeking for another message, "where's the next clue?"
"Are you alright?" seeing Wang Li's action, Feng Bo asked him.
"I can't find anything here. There's no clue in it," Wang Li said as he looked at Feng Bo while the paper fluttered in the mercy of the wind.
"Let's me have a look," Feng Bo said as he stretched out his hand to receive the paper.
"The really left no clue this time," he said after reading through the words in the paper, "why don't you take a look."
Seeing his senior colleague passing the paper to him, the enforcer responsible in cracking the two[2] previous puzzles took the paper before going through it.
"Find anything?" Zhou Yao asked his unit's member.
"Two[2] separate hands joined together in a hold to become one. Two[2] separate sentences joined together seamlessly to trick us into thinking they're referring to the same thing," the enforcer said as he kept his eyes on the paper in his hand, trying to find out more from the words in it.
"You're saying the clue to the next possible location is hidden in the sentences of the message?" Feng Bo asked the enforcer.
"That's what I think," the enforcer responded as he passed the paper to his colleague, "but the thoughts of the criminal might not be the same as mine."
"It doesn't matter. You're our best bet in figuring out the location of the criminal without wasting much time inspecting the crime scenes and asking questions from civilians," Feng Bo said as he began trying to understand the sentences in the culprit's message.
"What do they mean by renowned valley of darkness? There's no valley in the town," Zhou Yao said as he read through the paper in his hand.
"There are a few renowned areas in town like the overpass, the town's temple, the deserted land, the infamous alley of death, the entrance of the Flowing River Sect, the celestial port, and the Flower Paradise," enforcer[2] from Feng Bo's unit said as he listed out the popular areas in Yuhan Town.
"The renowned valley of darkness, the infamous alley of death," the smart enforcer muttered as he organized his thoughts, "dissipation of the myriad souls, deaths of the maidens. The next location of the culprit is the infamous alley death."
Confirming his answer after organizing his thoughts, he said to the cultivators around him, "the next location of the culprit is the infamous alley of death."
"That's why I find it so familiar. The syllables are exactly the same," enforcer[2] from Feng Bo's unit said as his thoughts finally aligned together.
"We need to hurry before he kills them," Wang Li said as he ran towards his horse before leaping on its back and riding towards the south-west area of Yuhan Town.
"They might've already been killed," Feng Bo thought as he shook his head.
From the various clues and findings they've made since they started their chase, he's been able to figure out the true aim of the culprit.
"He isn't after the thrill of the chase because he's way ahead of us. What he's after is the mental and emotional destruction of the Flowing River Sect's disciple," he thought as his horse trailed a few feet behind Wang Li's horse.
"Be ready for what's coming next, dude," Zhou Yao thought as he also guessed the grim state of Wang Li's family.
Arriving in front of the infamous alley of death with its fastest speed, Wang Li's horse bolted inside the alley under Wang Li's instruction.
"No, no, no, no, no, no. This can't be happening. This can't be real," Wang Li repeatedly shook his head in refusal as he leaped down from his horse before running towards the unique object in the middle of the alley, "you can't be dead. Mom, you can't be dead! You can't be dead!!"
Having tears run down his eyes for the first time since his began chasing after the culprit; he rested his hands on the waste-bin carrying the severed heads of his mom and his sister.
Knowing Wang Li won't be able to do much for a while, Feng Bo walked towards the waste-bin before taking the paper resting beside the severed head.
Turning it to the side with the message, he read:
"Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! That must've been harsh to see. I know, I know. Mothers have a special place in the heart of a son. As a son myself, I can understand how you feel. So, here's my condolence. Your sister will be alive and whole for you to come save her. You can find us at the construction site in the middle of the town. Good fortunes in your quest, Wang Li."
"He's really a deranged character," Feng Bo thought after he finished reading the message in the paper.
"What did it say?" Wang Li voice was low as he asked Feng Bo without taking his eyes off the severed heads on the waste-bin.
"Your sister is alive and well, and will continue been so until you go to save her. They're in the construction site in the middle of the town," Feng Bo said to Wang Li.
"You figure out the clue so fast?" Zhou Yao was shocked after hearing Feng Bo's answer to Wang Li.
"No. The culprit wrote it in his message," Feng Bo said as he passed the paper to Zhou Yao.
"You all can join me if you need, but know this, don't get in my way of killing whoever murdered my mother," Wang Li said as he looked straight at the eyes of the enforcers before walking towards his horse.
Not saying anything, the enforcers all got on their horses before riding towards the construction site in the middle of the town with Wang Li riding in front of them.
"They're finally coming," Shung Yun muttered as he watched Wang Li and the enforcers riding their horses at the fastest speed and moving towards him.
Sitting on a crate with Wang Nuo below him, he held a dagger in his right hand as he closed his eyes to focus on the vision gotten from his hawk's view.
"There's no one here," Wang Li thought as he came down from his horse's back before walking towards the entrance of the construction site.
"Be careful. There might be traps set up," Feng Bo said as he ran after Wang Li.
"I can't waste time with that. I have to save my sister before he kills her," Wang Li said as he continued forward at his pace.
"He said he won't kill her until you come for her. And rushing into a trap won't save your sister either," Feng Bo said as he walked beside Wang Li.
"I no longer care what happens to me. If I can't save her, I'll have nothing much to live for," Wang Li said as he moved into the uncompleted building with Feng Bo and the rest of the enforcers.
"You're finally here," Shung Yun said as his voice echoed in the building, "we've been waiting for you."
