Chereads / First Demonic Dragon / Chapter 23 - Why Does My Body Keep Changing?!

Chapter 23 - Why Does My Body Keep Changing?!

Floating right above Bekka's head were words that almost shocked Exedra's soul out of his body.

< Would you like to see this individual's evolution requirements?

"Husband…did you get another wish or something?" Bekka asked curiously.

He was so shocked by what he was seeing that he barely registered her question. "Hm? No, why?"

"You look different again."

The dragon raised a brow in confusion as he gingerly slipped away from Lailah and moved towards the mirror on the other side of his room.

When he saw his new appearance, he couldn't help but let out a low impressed whistle.

One of his eyes was now a bright purple, and his perfectly muscular body was now covered in intricate demonic tattoos.

'I thought I'd have another drastic change to explain to everyone again, but this is fine.' This wouldn't be quite as hard to explain as anything he'd done yesterday, so he was a little more relaxed than normal.

Plus, he'd always wanted tattoos in his last life, but he simply never had the money.

Exedra finally noticed that Bekka hadn't stopped staring at him ever since she'd woken up.

He began to worry slightly that these changes didn't suit him.

"Ah…how do I look?"

"Powerful.. your aura feels completely different now."

Bekka slipped out of the bed and rested her hand against his cheek as she stared deeply into his new mismatched eyes.

"Your eyes are beautiful, my love."

For the first time, Exedra felt a blush spread on his cheeks and an embarrassing warmth spread through his chest.

As someone who had never received a compliment on his appearance before, Bekka's attack had hit him in kind of a weird place.

He didn't know what to say, so instead he took her hand and placed a tender kiss on it.

"Mmm morning guys.." Suddenly, Lailah rose out of the bed and sleepily rubbed her eyes.

'She's so cute in the morning...' Exedra thought.

'Fufufu~ She still has drool on her lips.' Bekka giggled.

Exedra finally pulled his attention away from Lailah's face long enough to notice the same words floating above her head.

< Would you like to see this individual's evolution requirements?

'Yes.'

< Lailah Izanami Draven >

< Evolution Path : Mother of Jörmungandr (Unique Species)

< First stage conditions

- Ingest 100 different kinds of poison. (0/100)

- Gain a Serpent type familiar.

- Take revenge on a being who's wronged you.

'Jörmungandr?… Where have I heard that name before...?'

He felt like it was important, yet he couldn't remember why…

'I'll just think on it later.' He thought with a shrug.

As Exedra quickly read his wife's conditions, he sighed when he realized only the second condition would be easy.

Naturally, he wasn't at all keen about his wife needing to swallow poison.

Remembering her timid and frail personality, he couldn't see her taking revenge on anyone either.

Though maybe this would be exactly what she'd need to overcome her shyness?

"Honey..did you change again?" Lailah was now fully awake and had realized her husband looked different from last night.

"It was a surprise to me too." He said with a nod. "Do you like it?"

"You look even more handsome than before." She immediately slipped out of bed and joined Bekka to hug him.

"Doesn't he?" Bekka giggled.

'I don't know if I'll ever get used to hearing that..' He thought with a bitter smile.

Knock, Knock, Knock!

Hearing a knock at the door, the trio's lovey dovey atmosphere was immediately broken.

Exedra kissed both girls on their forehead before he went to open the door.

Standing outside were Duke and a few dozen maids, each holding an armful of clothes.

"Ah, goodmorning Young Master. I've procured some clothes that take into account your.. recent… growth spurt.." The old man's voice gradually trailed off as he noticed Exedra had changed yet again within one night.

'Well at least the young master does not appear to have grown again...' He would be quite frustrated if all the work he'd done to procure Exedra a new wardrobe ended up being for nothing.

Exedra sighed before turning around to see that both of his wives were properly covered before he let everyone in the room.

Exedra didn't notice, but all of the maids had begun to give him lustful looks as well.

Though Lailah and Bekka certainly did.

Two possessive and hate filled glares were more than enough to send the appropriate message.

As Exedra watched the now fearful maids lay out the clothes on his bed, he immediately noticed a pattern that made his head hurt.

Stuffy. Pompous. Uncomfortable. Shiny.

Those were the only words he could think of to describe the clothes Duke had chosen for him.

All of them looked egregiously expensive, but that did not make them look any more appealing to him.

"Are any of these clothes to your liking?" Duke asked proudly, already knowing the answer.

These clothes came from the finest shops in Antares!

Naturally, anyone would-

"No." Exedra said flatly.

"I... what?"

While Duke was still reeling from shock, Exedra's eyes landed on some items that he did not find unbearable.

The first was a simple, long black robe that looked incredibly soft to the touch.

Next to it were a pair of basic pants and a golden ceremonial necklace made out of fenris teeth.

"Old man, I appreciate the gesture but all of this is too much. Just bring me things like this okay?"

Duke opened and closed his mouth several times before nodding in defeat.

"If this is truly all that you require then I will return everything else." Duke said, bewildered that his young master was acting rather distant and aloof.

"Thank you." Exedra said politely as he headed towards the door.

Now that he had clothes, Exedra could start getting ready for the day.

Realizing he was heading towards the bath, Bekka and Lailah hurriedly ran to follow him, leaving Duke to wonder just what had become of his young master.

-

This morning taught Exedra a few things.

1.Bekka is quite playful in the bath.

2. Lailah is quite shy in the bath.

3.He could only see the evolution requirements of beings who've either yet to evolve or only evolved once.

He couldn't see Duke's requirements earlier, nor his mother's at breakfast.

Leaving him to form the inescapable conclusion that his ability to see evolution requirements were sort of proficiency based, and he would only be able to see the conditions of higher evolved when he had evolved himself.

"Are you ready, husband?" Lailah asked.

"Of course."

Right now, Exedra and his first wife were about to head into the city for an impromptu date.

Earlier in the bath, both girls proclaimed they wanted to have him to themselves for a day and Lailah had won the game of Rock Paper Scissors to decide who got to go first.

Bekka was a bit disappointed with her loss, but once Exedra asked if she'd like to visit a dungeon tomorrow, her mood was immediately lifted.

Luckily, Exedra's second wife was a furry little battle maniac who would hopefully make his task of clearing dungeons just a little bit easier.

'I wonder if I should tell the girls about their own conditions...'

"Pokeeee."

Exedra was jolted from his thoughts by his wife's long thin finger in his cheek. "Lailah?"

"You've been staring into space for a while, is there something on your mind?"

Exedra smiled helplessly and shook his head.

"Nothing important, my wife."

"Alright... If you don't want to go out then we can-"

"Lailah, you don't need to worry. I want to spend time with you." He said reassuringly.

The young witch blushed furiously as she immediately felt her worries lessen considerably. "Okay... I'll believe you."

As the pair walked to the exit of the castle, Exedra couldn't help but stare continuously at Lailah.

She was gorgeous in every sense of the word.

Today, she wore a black sleeveless dress that exposed parts of her torso underneath and hugged her body deliciously.

Her arms and fingers were decorated with golden bands and rings that were inscribed with runes and emanated a faint magic power.

She's the type of woman he wouldn't have even been allowed to breathe around in his last life.

The longer he experienced her warmth and light, the more desperate he became to make sure that he never lost it.

As the guards opened the door for the young couple, they were immediately welcomed outside by the warmth of the morning sun.

Waiting outside was an elaborate carriage with a gold and red design bearing the emblem of a dragon on top of a mountain.

With two pitch black, muscular horses at the front, Exedra was absolutely certain that they would stick out quite a bit riding in this.

It was a good thing he refused the escort of the guards or the spectacle would have been even worse.

As the two climbed into the carriage, Exedra finally realized he was going out with someone for the first time.

'Fuck... What are you supposed to do on a date anyway?!'
