A smile appeared on her lips as she looked at the blood stain on the table.
'Creepy' Max thought to himself as he looked at the wierd girl who smiled at the blood on her table like she just saw a newly discovered treasure. It was the kind of look that a blood thirsty person has after satisfying his bloodlust. She was the way she was before but this time, very much cruel. Wait a sec. Does that mean she's starting to have bloodlust at this young age. God! This is really creepy for a girl.
Evie took out a sheet of paper and wiped off the blood from her tabled, squeezed the paper and made a perfect throw into the thrash bin.
The rest of the classes went by pretty fast. Soon, classes were over and it was time to go home. Her dad had promised to come pick her up so she waited patiently in the school vicinity. She rested her back on the wall and was going through her phone when she felt someone approaching her. 'Not this guy.' Evie sighed.
"What do you want." She asked bluntly.
"Why so cold?" He asked.
"You shouldn't be the one asking that question."
"So you're mad at me? For what exactly?" he asked
"Look Myles, I don't like talking to people. So please let me be."
"That didn't seem like the case while we were having lunch."
"I only talk to the ones I'm comfortable with."
"So you're not comfortable with me?"
"What do you want Myles?"
"Good question. What do I want? What do I want? I want to talk to you."
"About?"
"It's something that gets me curious."
"Get straight to it."
"You don't seem to let things pass do you?" he said and Evie's brows drew together. He then continued. "First you broke her fingers because she tried to bully you and then made her trip because she called you names."
"And why do you care?" she said with irritation.
"Why do I care. Kim is my toy. I don't like when people break or play with my toys and I don't like playing with broken toys. Also, it wouldn't sit too well with the one who broke my toy."
"(scoff) Try harder. Your threats make me laugh. I will destroy, shatter and dismantle your toy if it messes with me. So please, tame your toys and keep them away from me if you want them intact."
"You've got some nerve Evie. Trust me, if you don't back off, I'll break your wings."
"And why should I trust you?"
'Fuck.' "You don't have to. Just know that you're warned. You're in my territory Evie. And you know what happens to trespassers."
"I'm so scared." She said sarcastically.
"Hey, Evie." Dave called from behind Myles.
"Hey. When did you get here?" She asked.
"What's up, man." Myles turned to Dave, extending his hand for an handshake.
"I'm good. You?"
"I'm great."
"It's been quite some time. I saw Max this morning and I didn't even recognize him."
"When did you get here?" she asked again.
"Now." was his brief answer.
"I'll be off now. See ya." Myles said walking back.
"Where's dad?"
"Dad couldn't make it so your handsome brother will be driving you back home."
Everyone was already staring at her. No, at Dave. Or was it both of them?
"First it was Max and now, this guy."
"How many hot guys does she want all to herself?"
"Did you see the way she was clinging to Max today? However, she has her own boyfriend."
Evie had super sharp hearing, so she could hear what they were saying.
A girl approached them with a very broad smile on her face. 'Here we go again.' Evie rolled her eyes.
"Hi, my name's Angel. You're the new girl right? Everyone is talking about you. Is this your boyfriend?" Of course she had a mission. She'll confirm they are dating and then tell how him she was clinging to Max all day.
"He's my brother." came her straight reply.
"Oh. I had no idea. He looks so handsome, so I thought he was your boyfriend. So it's Max who is your boyfriend ?" Evie wasn't dumb. She knew what the girl was driving at. But she preferred this method of approach to just jumping into conclusion and spreading fake rumors.
"Max is my childhood friend. I've known him and his brother since I was born."
"Sorry to ask these questions. I was just trying to clear my doubts so that I don't misunderstand the situation." she smiled and then looked over at Dave. 'Damn. He's even more handsome when looking at him at a close distance.' "My name is Jenny." she said. This time, it looked like she was talking to Dave.
"Let's go." Evie said without waiting for him to respond to her. She took his hand and pulled him away.
Dave was already driving out of the school gate when he asked "So, how was school?"
"School was great. Max made it feel less annoying. There were too many gossips but I don't care."
"You never care. Did you make any friends? Like aside Max and Myles."
"Myles should not be considered a friend. He's an enemy for sure. I thought things were going to change now that were older but it's pretty much worse. Aside Max, I made three more friends."
"Wow. That's a lot. It usually takes like a few months for you to make one friend. Boys?"
"Yes."
"As usual."
Unlike the journey to school, the journey back home was quite lively.
Evie got home and went up to her room straight. She stared at the bed as it called her. She crashed on the bed and closed her eyes.
After a few hours, she opened her eyes and saw that her surrounding was burning. The entire building was set ablaze. There was commotion everywhere as people were screaming and running Helter skelter. She realized that she was not in her house. Did she teleport to a strange land? Her clothes were different and her heart was racing. Soon, two huge men came into the room. She was confused as to how they were able to pass through the fire.
They saw her sitting on the floor with her knee against her chest and a smile appeared on their lips. "Take her away." One of the men said. The fire burned the wood that was above her head where a ceramic pot was placed. The pot fell on her head and she was knocked unconscious.
