Waking up the next morning, Lauren remembered that she slept in her bedroom last night and had no recollection of how she ended up in the room she shared with Alec.
She pulled herself up and saw Alec standing by the window, looking outside. Unlike her who just woke up and was still in her nightdress, he seemed to be ready for the day. He wore a crisp white collared shirt with its long sleeves rolled up to his elbows.
She wondered if he even slept. But then, vampires were creatures of the night who didn't need sleep at all.
"You shouldn't be sleeping in another room. People might think we are on bad terms," he said without looking at her and she knew he was the one who brought her to the room.
"I heard what happened last night. You really don't run out of wicked ideas, do you?"
