"Students, Do not take my anger to be that of support for the technocracy. I admit they are parasitic using our gifts as mere products, but they need those products. That is what keeps their fear of us in check" The professor said with a blunt tone clearly calmed down from his outburst.
"Do not disrespect the Law of current vocation as its one of our main economic exports, if the technology requires power, we can be a battery to provide that in a safe way without destroying the planet we inhabit by pollution of the days of old. Admittedly we are lucky that the technocracy cares about the longevity of our planet and not repeating the days of old mistakes more than letting us live in a corner of their empire" Reluctantly admitted the professor
I started nodding off at this ad-hock history lesson, clearly, the professor was quite adamant about drilling the importance of this in, but it seemed to go in one ear and out the other.
"Castor you should be listening and don't roll your eyes at me, if not for our predecessors you and many others of our kind would have been shot out of fear. Their contributions and strides ensure you and many of our kin scattered across scared of their newly awakened powers were put in a safe place, equally, we now have the resources thanks to the technocracy to awaken more of our kin who have not been blessed with natural enlightenment like you, even though you have wasted yours"
" Now then students you can look at your pamphlets they will explain the initial vocations you may pursue and any tertiary law you may wish to study to improve chances of awakening properly the vocation, such as the law of grounding if you were to pursue the law of current to improve safety"
My eyes closed shut clearly I didn't get enough sleep as I nodded off and fell my head on the desk once again as he kept droning on until I returned to the daydream of controlling the law of combustion shooting flame.
Waking up I felt well rested but as a raised my head I could feel a stabbing glare of the professor, glancing up i was face to face as the only one in the class clearly past lecture finishing time.
"You are lucky your talents mean not much of my lecture means anything for you, luckily you are still a binder and that means we look out for each other." Sighing greatly, he continued
" I would recommend learning the law of friction as with your current law of the wind you may be able to pass as being able to use the law of combustion as I have heard some practitioners theorizing mixing these two laws to simulate it , but remember, I didn't say this. But otherwise how many years do you think you will be stuck in my class Castor?"
I started to sweat at the thought of staying with this hellish professor and stood up straight.
"Thank you sir for the advice I should best get going," I said quickly sprinting out and the door which suddenly closed with a gust with that telltale deadness in the air
"Don't forget to learn the laws properly if you want to pass and leave the guild, don't want even a flunking student like you being left behind by your peers" He said with an empathetic tone floating a book over to Castor who looked at the plain leather-bound book.
"It's a book which I have made which focuses on the foundation of the law of wind you know already, the law of friction & the law of combustion basics if you use that brain of yours and some luck you may be able to awaken the law of friction and if even luckier you may have the skill to replicate the law of combustion, but I never said that nor gave you that book" Castor looked dumbfounded and looked at the professor as if seeing him in a new light
Returning the look with a scowl the professor willed the door open and pushed Castor out of the lecture hall with a painfully heartless gust.
Castor fell on his ass, backpack on the floor, the plain leather book still in hand and not knowing exactly what to do.
