Dusk till dawn.
He had whispered those words to her, or was it to Ameer.
Ivan was laying down on the soft tall grass, the summer breeze brushing his cheeks or was it fingers stroking his skin. Ivan opened his eyes, finding himself staring up into the clear blue sky.
"Good morning." Said a soft voice.
He sat up and took in the view of the sea. Why was he here? Why was it summer? Where was Rea?
"She is still there." As if the person knew what he was thinking. Ivan turned to his left, where Ameer was sitting, smiling at him. "It wasn't her time yet."
"Ameer?"
"Hi love."
He looked so perfect, as beautiful as the day Ivan last met him on their spot. He was as beautiful and peaceful as the day he lost him. Ivan threw his arm around him and kissed him, tears falling down his cheeks.
"I missed you." Whispered Ameer.
Ivan sobbed. "You don't know how much I've missed you."
He looked at him, studying every corner of his face, tracing the lines of it, stopping at his dimples. He was with Ameer, he held him in his arms once again. But why were they here? Ivan looked up at Ameer with worry.
"What about Rea?"
"She has a war to win and her people to led."
Ivan looked down. "I left her."
He promised her he would stay, and he didn't. He left her alone to lead a kingdom burning. Ameer cupped his face and pulled him up to meet his eyes.
"You did everything you could, and she knows that, and she does not resent you for that. It's not her time to go yet." He stood up and offered him his hand. "But it is your time."
Ivan looked at his hand and back at him. "Where will we go?"
Ameer looked at the sea and smiled. "Towards the end," He glanced at Ivan. "And beyond."
He was right. It wasn't Rea's time or Tivon's or even Elias' time to go, but it was his. It was his time to rest. Ivan took Ameer's hand, and he pulled him on his feet. They entwined their fingers together and walked through the tall grass, down the hill towards the sun.
From dusk till dawn Ameer.
I'll be with you from dusk till dawn.
