Carmel walked behind Nathan and his assistant. She made sure she wasn't too slow or faster than them. Her heart was beating wildly as they walked down the hallway to each department.
After visiting all the departments, she tried her best to apologize to him every ten minutes but he didn't even act as though she existed. He just focused on whatever he was doing.
A frown settled on Carmel's face when she had apologized like fifty times and he still hadn't even said a single word to her.
"Did I do something else and I didn't know? Is it because of the drawing I was busy with earlier?" Carmel thought as they walked out of the sales department.
In each department they went to, everyone looked at her questioningly as to the reason why she was following the boss around.
They whispered their thoughts to each other and Carmel heard some as she was standing beside the man. She supposed he also heard and simply acted as though he hadn't.
"Did she do something to piss the boss off?"
"Maybe the boss is going to fire her?"
"Seriously, how could you think like that? It's probably because she was doing something else while the boss was there."
"Yes, words have spread from the designing department."
Carmel couldn't help but facepalm as she heard all their stupid words. It annoyed her but she just decided to ignore them and continued her so-called punishment.
Soon, they got to the elevator taking them to the floor where Nathan's office was located.
Carmel silently entered the elevator with them and as soon as the elevator stopped, she was the first to get out. Nathan just glanced at her as he walked into his office with her trailing behind him.
"Please sit." His assistant said to Carmel who obediently sat quietly as Nathan sat behind his desk.
He hadn't even said a word to her yet which both made her curious and pissed her off. off She looked at her wristwatch and saw it had been three hours since she left her department to follow him around.
Even though she couldn't believe it, she just sat there and looked at him.
His gaze was glued to the file he was reading and there he looked, like the sexiest god ever created. His black wavy hair was undercut and neatly oiled and combed, which was fit for his perfect face.
His jaw was chiseled and his pair of greyish-blue eyes even caught her attention more. His nose was pointed and his lips were the ones any woman would beg to taste even if it was just once.
Carmel shook all those thoughts out of her head as she focused on everything but him.
The man was very good-looking, surely. But, she didn't think she was in a safe position to even focus on that.
She looked at all the awards on the shelf, looking surprised. The company had won lots of awards and honors making it one of the top companies in the whole country.
Carmel sat there for the next thirty minutes looking around and when she got tired, she decided to stand up.
"I'm so sorry if I did anything wrong, boss, but I have to get back to work. If I don't work, it is going to affect the designs. I'm so sorry for bumping into you this morning. I was rushing up to work and I didn't see you there." She bowed apologetically, making him look up at her as if he just realized she was there.
"Wait till I am done. I want to have a word with you." He replied coldly before getting back to his work.
Carmel wanted so. much to punch his snobbish, arrogant face but she quietly sat down, before picking up her phone.
Gladly, she brought her stylus pen so she started to sketch some drawings on her phone. She seemed too engrossed with the drawing and didn't realize when Nathan stood before her to look at what she was doing.
"Do you even pay attention at all? You get easily carried away." He frowned as he sat back.
He looked calm and cool. As though, he wasn't the one poking his nose in her business.
"I'm so sorry." She apologized but he just gave her a stare without saying a word.
Nathan took a file from his assistant and placed it on the table before looking up at her. "Tell me about you and why you are in the department you are in."
"My name is Carmel Ashton. I like making designs for bags and other fashion accessories so I decided to apply for a position in the designing department but the manager told me the only position available in that department was my current position," Carmel said briefly and then Nathan nodded gently.
"So what you're saying now is that you can make designs for all fashion accessories? Shoes, bags, jewelry?" Nathan asked with a raised brow.
"Yes, but mostly the bags," Carmel replied with confidence, making Nathan hum.
"Well then, it seems like I've chosen the right person. I have a very important task for you. You just get the task done before the end of next week."
"Or else, I can't guarantee the step I would take toward an incompetent employee in my company." Nathan folded his arms across his chest as he crossed his legs and leaned back on his chair. "Take the file and check what's in it."
Carmel took the file and opened it. She was shocked to see beautiful designs blended with amazing colors and jewelry with different shapes and forms. "Wow, beautiful."
"I don't like those designs. So my task for you is that you should make a better version of them. Design them to look better than they already are." Nathan closed his eyes slightly, looking exhausted.
Carmel stared at him like he was nuts. "But they are perfect."
"I asked you to redesign them for a reason."
