Chapter 5 - [Rat] is evolving!

It's been a week of serial murders by rats, people had reported that a rat killed a falcon once, most hunting serfs had problems with getting food.

The cause of all this had no problems with this, he never cared for the pains of another.

Right now he had 8454 exp.

Those are a lot of choices, a lot of choices, but he choose 'healthy rat' for all of them. Even if there was a problem, rats are not worth much.

Suddenly all of the stats restarted at what was there before everything, though the add-ons were still there.

Herhail heard of a knocking on his 'sort-of-a-door' door, he put his deck away and walked there.

3 guys with shanks were there, the middle one said "We and our boys have noticed that you came of age recently, Shouldn't you help out the community? We'll 'protect' you from anything 'bad' happening."

"No, go after those honey pot bandits, they've got it good, I litterally don't have enough food for myself." Herhail hottily said, turning around and walking back.

"You damn brat!..." The left guy said with anger at being completely disregarded, he took a step and hit Herhail in the back of the head with his fist.

Herhail suddenly felt a large amount of pain in the back of his head, he heard these words from them "When we come in five days, you better pay up if you don't want get in a grave."

The three men didn't take him seriously and talked to each other as they walked off "I'm happy we can just extort other serfs instead of the others..." "Yea, I don't ever want to see that fleshy blob again, I still have nightmares..." "You guys are luckey, I saw a rat get injected with snake venom, the stuff which could kill a lvl 0 dog, and be fine 2 hours later. It's not that it wasn't effected, the venom just wasn't able to over come it's own regeneration rate."

"Keep kidding!" An another said "There wasn't such a rat in the reports. There's a fast one, a hard and heavy one, one with blue veins all over it's body which can use magic, a heavy one, one that that could well and do a bunch of tactics, not one that could live on after a lvl 2 snake's venom."

"But it looked like a normal rat without any problems... Well it looked... Healthy?" The other two laughed their asses off at the insanity of his words, slowly fading into the sunset.

Herhail was fuming on the inside, he didn't expect that his arrogant act would backfire, he already felt sore on his neck, and he was a bit disoriented.

He knew where those people came from, they're pretty much the boss of the slums. He never interacted with them before since he was a child without a path, but now he had a good path, with strong enough skills to kill them all.

Five days would be enough to put them all in the grave, he believed.

Right now all of the rats needed 20 exp to get to lvl 1, after a few hours they all got to lvl 1. it said that it needed 40 exp, then Herhail dreaded the chance at it being an exponential curve. After some time breathed a sigh of relief as rat 1 had leveled up to lvl 2 and showed that it was just 60 exp to get to lvl 3.

But there was something alerting, 2 stat points were of the rat this time. At level 2, rat 1 had 6 strength (6 in reality, +2 because of the adjective) instead of 4. Next, rat 5 had the same discovery, Herhail was filled with joy, then having it drop down a notch when rat 1 leveled up again and gained only 1 stat point.

Then it went up a bit again when at lvl 4 it gained 2 free stats again, so every 2nd level a [Healthy rat] gains 2 stats instead of 1.

The monsterous rat of muscles had gained up to 10 (8+2) strength overall in these 3 days, against the previous 14, it was pretty good actually. if we add on the new at lvl 3, that's 13 strength in one attack.

Herhail believed that this one attack would be enough if it was mixed with bitting an artery, he remembered the big boss of the gang, and he remembered where arteries were since that's where most people get shanked.

"Go rat 1 and 5, go kill that gang boss!" Herhail said with confidence.

half-an-hour later he got the two rat cards back in his deck, they had failed. If a mere tier 1 creature could kill the gang boss, then he would've died long ago.

"This is war!" Herhail said loudly, then looked at the cards in his hand "War... War never changes."

Then he put rat 1 back into action "War has changed! Also, kill everything you can, scorched earth style! Make sure to not kill that old man though."

Herhail was ready for serious measures, if no one lives to work for the gang man, then no free food will come to the gang man. If no beasts exist, then no meat exists. Herhail already had a lot of meat he smoked with fire, though quality was of concern, it wasn't that bad, for a serf.

He had already noticed that there were less birds and other critters around, there wasn't that many creatures around for rats to kill constantly.

There just weren't enough, for exp. The exp gain had slowed already... What other than small critters could be killed? Hmm... What was what he was trying to kill? Hmmm....
