Chereads / I BECAME THE VILLAIN OF A NOVEL / Chapter 74 - Letter analysis.

Chapter 74 - Letter analysis.

The lukewarm light of the sun aimed at the girl sitting alone in the middle of the flower field. The soft whush of the wind blew her long platinum wavy hair slightly to the east. As the breeze passed by, the girl's platinum hair went back to its original state.

Her deep blue eyes like the ocean peered on the contents of the paper she was holding. Her wide full lips are hanging open in surprise. The girl raises her smooth milky hand to cover her mouth in disbelief.

The girl's heart is drumming loud, beating in a blaring rhythm. Her perfectly shaped eyebrows weaved together, holding the paper firmly in both of her trembling hands.

The girl moved her ocean blue eyes to read the content of the letter once more.

To Kendra Salamanca:

Hello Kendra, this is Nasrin. If you're reading this letter, then you're probably at the flower field. Anyway, how are you doing in the academy? I hope you're doing well and taking care of yourself.

I know it's been a long time since the last time we saw each other, so this letter may seem weird to you. But there is something important that I must tell you Kendra, but let me ask you something first, do you remember Pula?

Pula is the red-rabbit we found in the forest near the academy. And it turns out that Pula is a halfling; a half red rabbit and half a sacred beast.

The reason why I wrote a letter to you is to inform you that Pula just passed away…

You were with me when I found Pula in the forest, so I thought you also have the right to know what happened to Pula, and I think Pula would be happy if you also knew.

During Pula's last breath, I was with her and we talked to each other about you.

If you're wondering why, then I don't know what to tell you since I also have no idea why, but I think there's a reason why Pula did that. I have a guess, but I'm not sure.

To tell you the truth, Pula told me that you're the same as me. I'm Nasrin and not the same Nasrin. And you're Kendra but not the same Kendra. We're the same in this world.

I know I seem vague, but I can't directly say it out in the open. I'm still not sure if the person reading this is indeed you, Kendra. That's why I have to be vague.

But if it's you reading this, then I think you'll get it. I'm sure that you'll understand what I mean because we're the same.

Maybe the reason why Pula told me about you is because…Pula probably wants me to reach out to you since we're the same after all. Don't worry, I don't mean anything bad. I hope we can become friends, but only if you're fine with it.

I don't know if you're curious to know about me. But I'm interested to get to know you, and I wrote a letter to you, so we could communicate more openly with each other.

I just want to get to know you again since we're kind of the same in this world. I also heard that there are other people like us in this world, and I don't know why and for what purpose we are here.

However, I think we should help each other out since we're all in the same situation anyway. What do you think? Let me know if you agree.

Well, I hope we can talk more about ourselves. But I know that it's also hard to trust people in this world, so if you find my request a bit too much, then don't be polite and just reject me.

Still, I hope to have friendly cooperation with you, Kendra. If you ever want to contact me, you can send back a letter to these coordinates: 14.5995° N, 120.9842° E.

That's all, thank you for taking your time reading my letter. I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely Yours,

Nasrin

P.S. By the way, I want to warn you about someone in the academy. Be careful with Lilith Salvador. I don't know what her purpose is in this world, but she tried taming a sacred beast. I don't know what Lilith's goal is, but the Adarna bird also warned me about Lilith Salvador, so just be careful around Lilith since she's also studying in Mystic Academy.

July 22, 1658. More than five weeks have passed since Kendra last saw Nasrin in the infirmary. And Kendra can't believe it, but Nasrin wrote her a letter.

[The weird Nasrin wrote me a letter…!]

Kendra covered her lips as it hung open once again. She held the letter that Nasrin wrote to her with quivering hands, while her heart was causing waves inside of her.

Her wide full lips moved as she spoke in her soft alluring voice. "Nasrin is also a…time traveller?" Kendra mumbled to herself full of doubt and disbelief.

Kendra couldn't believe what she just read. She took a deep shaky breath, reading the letter for the third time. Kendra has to triple check and read every word. To make sure that she didn't misread or misinterpret anything.

With that, her ocean blue eyes moved from the beginning of the letter.

After reading the letter for the third time, Kendra pursed her lips, folding the letter neatly, then she put it carefully inside her satchel bag. Kendra remained seated as her eyes gaze in a trance to the wild rose surrounding her.

The letter really seems vague, but Kendra understood it. In other words, Nasrin is probably also like her…a time traveller.

Since Nasrin repeatedly mentions that she and Kendra are the same, in other words, it could only mean that Nasrin is also a time traveller like Kendra.

Kendra doesn't know what happened to Nasrin, but Nasrin seems to want to get along with her. It's so unlike the original Nasrin that Kendra knew.

The question is…

[Why is Nasrin so different from the Nasrin I knew?]

However, people change and perhaps Nasrin became a different person after dying in a tragic way. Death can change people after all. And death is what woke Kendra up from the illusion of love, so maybe this is what humbled Nasrin as well…?

Kendra is not a hundred percent sure with this conclusion. Because Nasrin's letter is too ambiguous. It left Kendra baffled and confused.

Additionally, Kendra has suspicions that Nasrin probably still doesn't know the truth of her death; that it was her and her sister Lory who caused Nasrin's downfall in their original timeline.

And this is also probably why Nasrin is friendly with her, is what Kendra assumes fifty percent. Nevertheless, the situation is in Kendra's favor.

[This is good.] Kendra thought to herself as her eyes narrowed slyly.

If this Nasrin really has changed, then Kendra doesn't mind teaming up with Nasrin temporarily. Because Kendra already achieved her revenge against Nasrin in their original timeline. In other words, Kendra doesn't have any grudge left against Nasrin now.

Kendra only agreed with Lory's proposal of killing Nasrin, because they both needed to prevent everything from happening again.

Yet, it turns out that Nasrin is not the same vicious Nasrin in Kendra's original timeline.

Furthermore, it turns out that Nasrin is just a scapegoat of Zelda's crimes. In other words, Nasrin was just framed by Zelda. Having said that, it still doesn't erase the fact that Nasrin did harass Kendra in their original timeline.

That's why Kendra only plans to temporarily cooperate with Nasrin first.

Kendra will have to probe Nasrin's identity again. However, the current Nasrin is now different. This new Nasrin is more humble and easy to get along with. And also a little adorable.

Kendra cleared her throat as she pondered more to herself, staring at the wild rose in a trance. Anyhow, there are questions in Kendra's mind that still haven't been answered.

First, why did Nasrin become so weak, naive, and ignorant. That Nasrin that Kendra knew is a capable and proud person, so this made Kendra doubt the authenticity of the letter.

However, the matter about Pula and the sacred bird is what makes Kendra think that the letter was indeed written by Nasrin. There are only a few people who met Nasrin in the academy, and not many know that Nasrin met the sacred bird.

Not to mention that not many students often come to the forest, and this flower field was only discovered by Kendra accidentally in her original timeline.

So, it is more likely that the letter did really come from Nasrin herself, is what Kendra concluded based on the content of the letter.

"Still, is it really possible for a person to change so much because of death?" Kendra questioned in a faint voice, full of doubts.

What's more, the handwriting of the current Nasrin is too different from her old writing.

The old handwriting of Nasrin is more vicious looking. It was too different from the carefree handwriting of the new Nasrin.

Kendra pursed her lips, not liking the situation.

Everything about this Nasrin is too mysterious for Kendra. Even though Nasrin came clean to Kendra already, it still feels like Nasrin is hiding something from Kendra. And Kendra doesn't like secrets and mysteries.

Kendra grew up in a family full of secrets and lies. Even though her family meant good for Kendra, it still made her feel betrayed. And that hatred for secrets, lies, and mysteries only grew more when Kendra married that scumbag princess.

If the letter did come from Nasrin, then it could only lead to more mysteries in Kendra's head. Kendra doesn't know why Nasrin's personality changed.

But if Nasrin goes back to her original patterns or shows any signs of becoming vicious again. Then Kendra has to contemplate on what to do with Nasrin.

For Kendra, Nasrin is like a missing puzzle to solve, and Kendra feels that she needs to solve this mystery. Otherwise, Kendra won't be able to feel at ease.

Well, there is only one way to find out, and that is to write a letter back to Nasrin. This is what Kendra thinks is the best solution. Moreover, Kendra feels like Nasrin knows something more about the reason why they time travelled to the past.

With these thoughts in her mind, Kendra took a quill pen and a piece of paper inside her satchel bag.

With narrowed eyes, her long and slender hand started stroking beautiful letters on the paper. Kendra always brings these things with her. Just in case she can't use the manaphone. However, Kendra would have never thought that the first person she would write to is Nasrin, her nemesis.

To think that a day like this would come where Kendra and Nasrin are teaming up.

Kendra smiled lightly, finding that thought funny. "So ridiculous…" She mumbled with a soft smile.

When Kendra finishes writing; she draws a magic circle behind the paper, adding the coordinates of what Nasrin told her on the magic scripts, then she folded the letter evenly into three-folds.

Shortly after that, Kendra also created a magic circle on the ground and started to place an enchantment on the letter. Kendra stood up, staring at the fluttering letter. This letter will be sent directly to the coordinates that Nasrin told her.

A light smile forms on Kendra's lips, tucking her long platinum hair behind her ears. Unbeknownst to Kendra, her ocean blue eyes no longer hold that same hatred anymore. Unlike that day on the registration lane, those eyes of Kendra are now soft and bright under the warm rays of the sun.

"Things are getting…" Kendra whispered as the wind passed by. "...interesting."

As Kendra is busy with her own thoughts, a crackling echo of crunching leaves resounded behind the bush, reaching Kendra's keen ears.

Kendra narrowed her eyes vigilantly as her head snapped to the side, looking suspiciously at the bushes, and cautiously, Kendra started walking on the bush near her.

As Kendra approaches, the head of a horse peeks out its head behind the bush. The horse ignored Kendra standing on the side as it silently ate the grass on the ground.

Still, Kendra didn't let guard down. Her eyes roamed around the area, but Kendra only saw the horse.

When Kendra made eye contact with the horse, she felt a chill behind her back. This reaction made Kendra look intensely at the horse.

However, the horse just ignored Kendra as it continued to munch on some grass on the ground.

Kendra pursed her lips, shaking her head.

[Maybe researching nonstop for weeks is affecting my nerves.] Kendra thought in her mind, but in her heart, Kendra still felt doubtful.

Kendra chuckled at that thought. "It turns out it was just a horse," Kendra mumbled, shaking her head once more.

Perhaps, the matter about the cult members of God Sitan made Kendra tense for weeks. It made Kendra think that she was being watched by this horse.

That thought appears so ridiculous to her. However, Kendra still narrowed her eyes suspiciously at the horse one last time before she left.

As soon as Kendra left, the horse who was eating the grass in silence suddenly sighed in relief, speaking like a human.

"Phew, that was dangerous," the horse muttered to himself as he stood up like a human. "I didn't know that the lightbringer was this strong…?"

The eyes of the horse then went on to the fluttering letter, flying in the sky. His eyes squinted cunningly as he laughed, giggling to himself. "Anyway, I must report this matter to Chief Sitan, heeheehee."
