June 24, 1658.
On the underground floor of the Cassidy Mansion, inside the empty room sat a frail-looking lady, and resting on her arm is a small pink rabbit.
"Pula?" The frail lady called to the pink rabbit.
However, the pink rabbit named Pula didn't respond as her body gradually became cold.
Her heart is still beating, but Pula no longer has the energy to respond to the person holding her, but she still tried anyway.
With the little energy left in her body, Pula manipulated her mana to communicate with the person holding her. This skill is called Telepathy, a skill that her mother taught to her.
[I'm still here master…just a little tired.] Pula transmitted to the human holding her.
Her master didn't respond, but Pula could somehow hear her master's restrained sobs.
Pula felt sad and funny.
Sad that she didn't have enough time to accompany this naive human.
Funny that for a short amount of time, she cancelled her plans of vengeance because of a weak ignorant hooman.
If only she knew that there is a good human in this world. If only she knew that she would someday meet a pure soul.
Pula felt regret that she burned out her divine energy to evolve to a mythic monster.
However, it was already too late for regrets. Pula felt bitter, but she could only blame herself for her own decisions.
When her mother died from the hands of those scoundrel humans, Pula only had revenge in her mind.
That was the original plan, but it all changed when she met a naive hooman. For a short amount of time she spent with that naive hooman, Pula could feel that this naive hooman is the same as her.
They are both alone in this world. Both loners who became stuck together. This naive hooman told her that Pula brought comfort and security to her life.
However, Pula thinks the opposite. The one who was comforted was her.
Her master would always give her purple carrots. Even when her master is starving to hunger, her master would prioritise her well-being first, making sure that she is well-fed.
This is what made Pula stop her plans for revenge. It made her feel guilty because her naive master is too kind and selfless.
Even at this moment, instead of Pula comforting her master, the one being comforted in the end is her.
Pula felt distress hearing her master sob quietly. It's the kind of cry that makes anyone heartbroken by just hearing it.
She wanted to comfort her master, but she could no longer move her body as she slowly felt cold, so Pula decided to use the little amount of mana left to talk more with her master.
Since she is going to die soon, Pula decisively chose to do everything in her power to talk more to her master.
Burning out the small mana inside her body, Pula transmitted a message directly to her master's mind. [Master…?] She called with her eyes closed.
"H–hmm?" Her master replied in a restrained voice.
Pula doesn't know what else to tell, but at this moment, the scene where she met her master suddenly played in her mind.
Jumping in the forest is a red rabbit with two white horns and ruby eyes. That was her.
Two footsteps resounded through the ground reaching the Pula's bunny ears. Her bunny ears perk up, hiding behind the bush.
Ruby eyes watch two tall humans walk together side by side. The other one has long platinum blonde hair and deep blue eyes. While the other humans have long black hair and light brown eyes.
Pula sniffed, smelling their souls. The souls of the two didn't match the young appearance of their body. Meanwhile, the human with long black hair has a unique soul aura that feels foreign in this world.
What's more, Pula felt that the black-haired human had a very transparent soul. Like the colour of fresh water. Seeing a pure untainted soul for the first time in her lipe, Pula widened her eyes in surprise.
While the other human with platinum blonde hair appears to have a soul that resonates with this world. Which means that this other human must be a local in this world, but Pula could somehow feel something strange with the soul of this human. The soul appears not only old but feels heavy.
Filled with curiosity, Pula followed those two strange humans.
Recalling these memories, Pula decided to talk about it with her master. [Do you remember the first time we met?]
"Mm…" her master replied.
[That pretty lady, do you remember?]
"Ke…Kendra?" Her master asked, a little puzzled.
[Yes, her…]
"What…what bout her?"
[That hooman…she is a light-bringer, and her soul felt old and didn't match her appearance, so I think that she's probably also like you…?]
"You mean a soul wanderer?" Her master asked confusedly. "Is that why you growled at her at that time?"
[I'm not sure if she's a soul wanderer, but I thought she discovered what I am and will tell you about me since you know…my intentions with you at first were not good, and now that I think about it, I guess I'm just overthinking,] Pula explained weakly.
"I see…" her master mumbled thoughtfully.
The two of them both fell into silence. Perhaps her master is thinking complicated things again, Pula thought, sensing her master's emotions.
Pula wanted to talk more, but she suddenly felt tired. Like all of her energy is being sapped out of her body.
However, she still decided to use her mana to bid farewell to her master.
With the least amount of mana left in her body, Pula manipulated it, sending the last message she could transmit to her master's mind. [Master…I feel tired, I want to sleep…]
'Be careful of that pretty lady…' Pula tried to send the last message, but she found that her mana was depleted, and slowly, her hearing became weak as she only heard her master faintly call her name within her last breath.
