Chapter 35 - Nursing like a hmmm?

The moment that Kendra removed all the inscripted stones, the invisible shield also disappeared at the same time.

Nasrin dashed forward with a punch. Dark thick smoke, hard solid stones, and howling aggressive wind came launching to Kendra.

However, Kendra remains unfazed to the oncoming attack; she remains still standing to where she is.

[Light Shield.] Kendra thought in her mind, controlling her light attribute mana, building a solid invincible shield around her. It's a skill that surrounds one's body with an invisible shield from the light attribute mana.

The light shield made Nasrin's attacks bounce back from the recoil of the impact.

Kendra narrowed her eyes, approaching Nasrin, maintaining the light shield around her. Still, Nasrin didn't stop; she kicked, punched, and everything; but her relentless attack will always recoil back.

Slowly, Kendra channelled her energy, sending out her light attribute mana surrounding Nasrin.

A light attribute always holds an advantage against a dark attribute, and furthermore, Kendra has more mana and is more in control of her own mana.

Not to mention that Nasrin is just chaotically using her dark mana randomly with her messy emotion, so Kendra didn't find it hard to control the situation.

Nasrin growls in a low hoarse voice; she rushes forward, striking at Kendra with a fist once more. With ease, Kendra catches Nasrin's fist, channelling out her light attribute mana inside Nasrin's body.

Kendra held Nasrin's hands behind the back of the black haired girl, making their position appear ambiguous to the eye. Hugging Nasrin's waist, Kendra shamelessly channels her mana inside the black haired girl, scanning every inch and corners of Nasrin's body. While doing so, Kendra healed Nasrin's wounds on her body; the minor injuries closed up, becoming a fresh scar.

As Kendra scans Nasrin's body, Kendra discovers a poison flowing on Nasrin's blood vessels. The dark mana is the reason why Nasrin is still alive despite having poison in her blood.

This poison is the same poison that Lory told her. This was the poison that Lory said she used on Nasrin. The more Kendra scans Nasrin; the more her frown deepens. Doesn't this mean that this fake Nasrin is the original Nasrin?

If that is the case, then why is this girl so naive, ignorant, and weak?

As Kendra discovers the truth, Nasrin becomes a huge question mark in Kendra's head. Kendra's ocean blue eyes stared at Nasrin's eyes clouded in darkness. The girl is like her dim brown eyes right now; shrouded in mystery and unknown. Something Kendra always disliked.

The dark attribute mana inside Nasrin fought back with Kendra's light attribute. The black haired girl let out a growl, gnashing her teeth ferociously at Kendra.

Kendra pulled the girl's waist close to her, then she leaned close to Nasrin; only one breath away; that's how close and far they are against each other. And since Nasrin is a few inches taller than her, Kendra needs to raise her head and look up at Nasrin to see those eyes clearly.

Kendra's ocean blue eyes narrowed at those dim brown eyes of Nasrin; her brows knitted together, seeing nothing but a bottomless pit.

Being pacified with Kendra's light attribute mana, the violent storm of mana inside Nasrin's body slowly calms down. Little by little, Nasrin's growls decrease, becoming inaudible to hear.

Still, Nasrin continued to struggle against Kendra's hold, growling and gritting her teeth at Kendra.

"Shh," Kendra whispered softly at Nasrin's ears, holding the girl firmly in her embrace. "All will be well."

Nasrin growled and whimpered as her clouded brown eyes slowly returned back to its bright colour.

At that, Kendra can't help but sigh in relief as she lets out a small smile. "...sweetheart."

But Nasrin's light brown eyes remained in a trance as her eyelids closed, fainting as she fell on Kendra's bosom. Seeing the sleeping Nasrin, Kendra laid Nasrin's body on the stone floor, then she unlocked the door, finding both Alexandra and Penelope missing.

At that, Kendra decided to used the manaphone that Penelope gave her, calling the two to help her with Nasrin.

After a while, Penelope and Alexandra entered the room, which made Nasrin's mana slowly become chaotic again.

Kendra turns to Penelope and Alexandra. "The mana on other people's bodies is provoking her dark mana to run amok," Kendra stated.

Alexandra stared worriedly at Nasrin, then she turned her gaze to Kendra and said, "then Miss Salamanca, please take care of her until she becomes better."

"Don't worry, I will take good care of her," Kendra replied.

"Well, is there anything you need?" Alexandra said.

Kendra nodded and said, "yes, please bring the patient a basin of clean water, towel, and clean clothes."

"Noted, is there anything else you might want to add?" Alexandra inquired, jotting down on a paper.

"Well, the room also needs to be clean," Kendra said, staring at the messy room.

"Then let's clean it up now since we can't let others enter this room or else Nasrin's mana might turn chaotic again," Penelope suggested.

Alexandra nodded her head in agreement.

After that, the three of them started cleaning up the place, and afterwards, they laid down Nasrin on the bed.

After a while, Nasrin's mana started to become wild again, so Kendra held Nasrin's hand sending mana inside Nasrin, and slowly, Nasrin's mana calmed down.

Seeing this, Penelope and Alexandra gave them a little space, so Nasrin won't feel their mana.

"Alright, is there anything else…" Alexandra mumbled again as she jotted down notes on the paper.

"Food for the healer," Penelope added suggestively.

Alexandra nodded understandably. "Indeed, since you might end up taking care of Nasrin for quite some time," she commented, looking at Kendra.

"Then I thank you," Kendra politely replied, holding Nasrin's hand.

"No, I should be the one thanking you," Alexandra said gratefully as she stood near the entrance of the room, pulling the door open.

"The academy will definitely reward your good deeds, Miss Salamanca," Penelope commented, standing next to Alexandra.

Kendra only smiled as a response.

"Then, we'll leave and return back quickly," Alexandra replied, leaving the room with Penelope.

After the two left, Kendra turned her head to look at Nasrin.

Kendra's hand held Nasrin's hand, sending her mana inside, pacifying Nasrin's wild mana. Her deep blue ocean eyes narrowed on Nasrin's face.

"Still pretty cute and weird, are you?" Kendra mumbled softly to herself.

After a while, Alexandra and Penelope both return with the things that Kendra has requested for them to bring.

"If there's anything else you need, don't hesitate to call for us with the manaphone," said Alexandra.

Kendra nodded politely as she replied, "I will, thank you."

"Well then, we leave Nasrin in your care, Miss Salamanca," Penelope said.

Kendra nodded again politely as her ocean blue eyes watched the two leave the room, then her eyes went to look at Nasrin's dishevelled appearance.

Nasrin had her body rested on the bed. The cuffs on the end of Nasrin's sleeves and coat are all ripped and tattered. Dried blood stains and dried mud covered her uniform in random places.

With knitted brows, Kendra carried the basin of water, placing it on top of the side table beside Nasrin's bed, and afterwards, she started stripping off Nasrin's clothes.

Kendra had already seen so many naked bodies before returning to the past, and that's why she was already used to stripping people's clothes. Her job as a healer in the kingdom's army also required her to take care of the patients, so she had already seen many things with her eyes.

Despite thinking that, Kendra decided to only take Nasrin's upper clothes. Kendra disrobed Nasrin's red coat first; then she unfasten the buttons on Nasrin's white shirt.

After taking Nasrin's upper clothes, Kendra also took Nasrin's choker, but the moment she took it off; Kendra's furrowed brows deepened, seeing a horizontal scar on Nasrin's neck.

With knitted brows, Kendra proceeded to wipe Nasrin's upper body with a clean wet towel. Carefully, she wiped Nasrin's arm, neck, torso, and small cute abs. She didn't dare look at Nasrin's chest, but she did wipe them clean.

After cleaning Nasrin's upper body, then she dressed Nasrin with a long white gown. Next, Kendra eventually took Nasrin's pants without looking at her lower body; then she also wiped Nasrin's long legs that appeared to have a bit of toned muscle.

Kendra doesn't know that despite Nasrin looking thin and slender; it appears that Nasrin seems to have toned muscles. However, Kendra could feel that it was the kind of muscle that was only starting to develop. It means that Nasrin probably developed these muscles just recently. Which means, Nasrin grew these muscles during the past few weeks.

Kendra's lips raised with an amused smile. [So this is what you have been doing all this time.]

After taking care of everything, Kendra covered Nasrin with a blanket, then she placed a chair beside Nasrin's bed and sat on it.

Kendra held Nasrin's left hand, sending light attribute mana inside Nasrin, then her eyes went to look at the scar on Nasrin's neck again.

The scar only looks fresh, and at the same time, it appears fading.

Kendra squinted her eyelids, narrowing her eyes at the scar on Nasrin's neck.

This scar probably happened after Nasrin entered the academy, and if Kendra remembers correctly, she seems to have first seen Nasrin wearing a choker on their second encounter which is the next day after the registration day.

In other words, Nasrin probably got the scar between and after entering the academy on the first day. Which leaves three people in Kendra's mind as suspects. Cliopatra, Penelope, or Alexandra.

Kendra feels that it's either one of those three that most likely left that scar on Nasrin's neck. Thinking about their relationship with Nasrin, Kendra sums it up that it was probably Penelope who did it.

Logically, Cliopatra shouldn't have any reason to harm Nasrin based on her gut feeling as her ex-wife in her original timeline. Additionally, the day that she met Nasrin again on the second day, Kendra remembers how Nasrin interacted with Cliopatra. The two look friendly and casual. It doesn't seem that they harbored ill-feeling with each other.

So that left Kendra to pick between Alexandra and Penelope, and based on how worried and concerned Alexandra is with Nasrin; Kendra thinks that Alexandra probably won't harm Nasrin. Especially knowing how Alexandra would go as far as to go personally to GOF dormitory to ask for a light attribute user for help.

So she thinks that it's probably Penelope who did it, but all of these are just theoretical assumptions. Kendra doesn't have concrete evidence, and that's why, she is only about fifty percent sure.

Furthermore, Nasrin might have met other people along the way, and perhaps it was one of those people who did it.

Kendra's slender finger traced the scar on Nasrin's neck lightly, then she retracted her hand taking the choker again, putting it back on Nasrin's neck. Kendra thinks that Nasrin is probably hiding this scar, because she doesn't want anyone to see it, so Kendra decided to put the choker back in Nasrin's neck.

Still, all of this is none of her concern, but Kendra feels like she owes Nasrin. First, Kendra brought harm to Nasrin, and second, she got the opportunity to make two qualified and important people indebted to her thanks to Nasrin. That's why Kendra feels she owes Nasrin a favor, and Kendra doesn't like having unpaid debts. She already has too many debts to pay, and Kendra doesn't want to add anything more in that list.

Which is why Kendra will find the culprit for Nasrin, and return the favor she owes. By doing so, Kendra won't feel guilty anymore, however, she would pay this favor silently. Kendra doesn't plan to have anything to do with Nasrin again, because it would only bring nothing but trouble for them both.

With these thoughts in mind, Kendra continued to accompany Nasrin in the room for the whole day and night. Kendra didn't sleep since it was her responsibility to look after Nasrin. Not to mention that Kendra needs to constantly send light attribute mana inside Nasrin's body.

That's why when Nasrin's eyelid quivered open; Kendra couldn't help but raise her lips in a smile of relief.

[Finally, it's over.] Kendra thought in relief inwardly. She had been feeling exhausted and wanted everything to be over with.

"Kendra…" Nasrin called in a faint weak voice.

Kendra didn't reply as she waited for Nasrin to speak, but those light brown eyes just stared at Kendra. The silent stare made Kendra remember how she shamelessly stripped this person naked yesterday.

Kendra notices that Nasrin seems to be just looking at her, making her feel that Nasrin probably discovered her true thoughts. Blood surged to her head as she felt embarrassed.

Tucking her long platinum hair behind her ears, Kendra cleared her throat and awkwardly said, "I should call back everyone inside, they're still worried waiting for you to wake up, so…"

Nasrin blinks her eyes at Kendra. "Right…" Nasrin replied.

Kendra then stood up from sitting on the chair, then she reluctantly retracted her hand from holding Nasrin's hand. Afterwards, she moved step by step towards the door feeling Nasrin's eyes staring at the back of her head.

As soon as she went out, Kendra placed her palm on her chest feeling her heartbeat. Kendra felt embarrassed for some reason.

Actually, Alexandra and Penelope were not waiting outside. Kendra just wanted to escape the room.

After calming down herself, Kendra took the manaphone, calling Alexandra and Penelope. The two went out from another room, making Kendra curious, but she prioritised Nasrin's matter first.

Kendra told Alexandra and Penelope that Nasrin is finally awake. She also told them that the chaotic mana had finally settled down.

After settling everything, Kendra didn't dare look at Nasrin again as she left the infirmary with Penelope.
