Mrs. Tang was furious, but she stayed because she wanted to take control of the situation after the couple's show was over. However, she had underestimated her sons.
Qiu Yeh could not bear to watch any longer as he knew his mother's actions would be impulsive. She would never be rational and hand the company to him after such a sight. He stepped out of the hall and headed to his room. As he slammed the door shut, he let his built-up rage all this while overwhelm him as he drank the night away, forgetting he had taken some headache medicines earlier. He daringly kept the night light on and played with the devil of darkness.
Qiu Wen then stepped forward to take the mic. "Good evening everyone. Thank you for supporting us tonight. In addition to the presentation earlier, my wife's wedding dress tonight is an addition to the customised pieces of jewelry we are launching tonight. With this collaboration with Ms. Joy Liew, we hope you will continue to support us." The crowd applauded as Qiu Wen looked in his mother's direction.
She was no doubt furious but was suppressing it. He gave her a daring glare before speaking again. "I hereby would like to officially make an announcement." The crowd settled down and the room was quiet before he continued.
"I would like to announce my resignation from the company. This launch will continue to be handled by my brother, Tang Qiu Yeh. Thank you for all the support all this while. I wish the management all the best in their future endeavors." Qiu Wen then bowed to the crowd who was shocked and gasping.
Jia Yi smiled when Qiu Wen passed him the mic as he led Xue Ting down the stage.
"It's a pity to hear that. Let's all give a round of applause for all of Mr. Tang's hard work." Jia Yi urged the crowd as he led Xue Ting to the main entrance safely while Matthew pushed Joy over.
That left Mrs. Tang with no way else but to let the announcement take effect. As she furiously pushed her way out of the hall while being surrounded by the reporters, she chased after Xue TIng.
"Alright, go ahead and settle what you need to. I will take the children with me as arranged." Xue Ting urged Qiu Wen to leave them as she knew he had a lot to do but he was reluctant.
He held her close to him and kissed her. "I know I need to but my heart yearns for you. You're so pretty tonight sweetie. I am so glad to have finally given you what should have been given months ago."
"Thank you… I promise I will wait for you till you settle down things." Xue Ting assured him as he stole another kiss before forcing himself to let her go.
"Keep mummy safe alright? Don't let her drive." Qiu Wen told the twins as he hugged them both before heading back to the hall in search of Qiu Yeh.
Jia Yi came by and there were plenty of reporters trying to interview him as he was left with no choice but to accept the interview. While Xue Ting was leaving with the twins, they were stopped by Mrs. Tang and Francesca.
"So you think you're so great now that you have successfully told the whole world you're the legal Mrs. Tang again? Do you think I will ever accept it?" Mrs. Tang scolded as Xue Ting sighed hiding the twins behind her who were holding her tightly.
"You don't even deserve that hairpin!" Mrs. Tang added while Francesca stood by her side, enjoying the show.
"Don't even think I will let you off the hook! I will make sure you suffer the same losses as you have made me!" Mrs. Tang bellowed but it did not make Xue Ting barge for some reason.
Instead, she bravely took a step forward towards them with glares. "I am not afraid of your threats. The more you want to see me at my loss, the more you would lose." Xue Ting said as she took off her hairpin and threw it at Francesca who looked pathetic to Xue Ting.
"You can have all you want but they are only of material items. That was created and can be recreated again. Have it all you want." Xue Ting then turned around and walked away leaving Mrs. Tang even more furious. Francesca surprised herself for not feeling anything like she should be.
Xue Ting was too furious to notice that Joy was very upset not till they were about to board the car.
"What's wrong? Why are you sulking?" Xue Ting squatted abruptly as she grimaced at the pain of sudden crouching.
"Ouch…" Matthew then quickly helped her stand while Joy worried a little. "Slowly… Come head in and sit in front first. I will drive." Matthew urged but Xue Ting was more worried about Joy being upset.
"What's wrong sweetie?" Xue Ting bent a little and asked Joy who was wiping away her tears of anger despite worrying about her.
"Why did you give that away?! It's a commemorative gift and it's a pair! Now, it's not a pair anymore! Even if you recreate it, it will no longer be a pair!" Joy wailed as she sobbed while Matthew quickly carried Joy to the back seat and kept the wheelchair in the car as he led his dumbfounded mother to the passenger seat.
"Don't worry. Her anger will subside." Matthew comforted Xue Ting as he drove them all to his maternal grandmother's house.
Meanwhile, Qiu Wen was searching around after the brief interview for Qiu Yeh when he stumbled upon May who was busy helping to sort out the situation.
"May, have you seen Qiu Yeh?" Qiu Wen asked frantically as May calmed down and thought for a moment. "No, I don't. I had to send off Old Mrs. Tang because I thought he was with you in the interview." She frowned.
"No, he wasn't. I haven't seen him since the announcement of my resignation." Qiu Wen said as May instantly led him to the lift.
"Let's check the room and see if he is there. Is there anything wrong with him before this? He seemed to be out of it earlier. At first, I thought it was about the ceremony but till you announced your resignation… wait… he might not have stayed for the announcement…" May said worriedly as she stepped out of the lift and ran to his room.
She tried to tap her card to enter but there was another lock inside. "Qiu Yeh… Qiu Yeh, are you inside? Xavier!" May called out but it was all silence. May could smell the hinge of liquor.
"Xavier! Are you drinking?! You shouldn't be! You had taken medicine earlier! Qiu Yeh answer me!" May barged on the door worriedly while Qiu Wen was very surprised at May's reaction. He could sense their relationship must have changed but it was not the right time to pursue the matter.
Instead, he tried to remain composed and pushed her aside before kicking the door open while Jia Yi caught up with them. They found Qiu Yeh unconscious on the floor with a few bottles of red wine gone.
"Jia Yi, hurry call for an ambulance!" Qiu Wen urged over the phone as May was already crying frantically by Qiu Yeh's side.
By the time Qiu Yeh was out of danger due to alcohol poisoning that night, Qiu Wen realised it was past midnight. He worriedly called Xue Ting knowing she would not be able to sleep without him.
"Sweetie, why aren't you asleep?" Qiu Yeh asked gently as Xue Ting chuckled.
"You sound very tired. Must have been chaotic?" Xue Ting asked.
"It's just Qiu Yeh… He's admitted to the hospital due to alcohol poisoning. May is here taking care of him." May heard him as she quickly asked for his phone to speak with Xue Ting.
"Oh no, oh no, is he alright? Is May alright?" Xue Ting gasped as she sat on the bench outside her mother's house.
"I am fine Ting Ting. You better not worry. You're pregnant." May reminded sternly as Xue Ting felt glad to hear her over the phone.
"Oh May, sorry I couldn't see you earlier. I had to rush off with the kids…" Xue Ting explained feeling bad for her.
"It's alright. Don't worry too much. Now, I will send your husband to you knowing you won't be able to sleep without him." May teased as Xue Ting chuckled.
"May… for once, I agree with your decision if you would like to pursue this love." Xue Ting quickly said when May wanted to pass the phone back to Qiu Wen.
"Get some rest, pregnant lady. Your husband is on his way." She teased in return and Xue Ting knew May had already had a decision in her heart.
"Go, I will call you if anything." May comforted as Qiu Wen nodded and left with Jia Yi.
"Hello, you're still on the line?" Xue Ting asked as Qiu Wen waved Jia Yi to head home.
"Yes, Ting Ting. I am driving over now." Qiu Wen said.
"Oh no, no don't. Please don't. It's so late… No, sweetie. Stay at Wai Tao. I can listen to you and fall asleep." Xue Ting persuaded as Qiu Wen smiled.
"Too late. Stay warm while waiting. I will see you in a bit." Qiu Wen said as he hung up.
How could he not go see his wife that night after all the surprises? It would be a sin to do so. However, he halted for a while when he realised the doctor and nurses rushed to Qiu Yeh's room. After their inspection and declared he was out of danger, Qiu Wen requested from May to have a short conversation with him as she left them alone.
"I need to make this quick. My pregnant wife is waiting for me." Qiu Wen said trying to sound funny as Qiu Yeh groaned in pain from his dizziness.
"Go ahead… We can talk another day…"Qiu Yeh said weakly.
"I have announced my resignation and elected you as the director and heir." Qiu Wen continued on as Qiu Yeh turned his gaze at his brother in surprise.
"It's impossible mother will agree." Qiu Yeh refuted him.
"She was forced to." Qiu Wen updated as Qiu Yeh sighed.
"I'm still leaving anyway. I have decided. Crash and burn…" Qiu Yeh said as Qiu Wen smiled understanding his brother's meaning when his gaze turned to the door.
"You're very sure?" Qiu Wen asked one last time as Qiu Yeh smiled and nodded.
"Alright. I will get Jia Yi to help you notify your secretary to release a statement." Qiu Wen updated as Qiu Yeh's gaze did not leave the main door.
"Ting Ting and I are giving the support in this. Good luck bro!" Qiu Wen teased him before he left but Qiu Yeh was too busy in his thoughts of how worried May would have been. He waited for the sight of May to enter the room only to fall asleep while waiting till the next morning.
