Chapter 15 - Chapter 14 STORM; INSIDE AND OUTSIDE

Third person's pov

It has been days since Meera and Elijah visited the forest. She was overjoyed that her happy mood lasted for two or three days. Which Elijah completely took advantage of. On the first day, he took her to their rooftop garden where they had a picnic. On the second day, they stayed in, watching movies and cuddling together. And so on. Elijah was elated. They were cordial and not at each other's neck.

Today he decided to take her jet skiing but the odds were against them. First, there was a storm coming. And second, his assistant John messaged him about an emergency meeting which can't be avoided. So here he was in a video conference with his board members. Wishing only to get this done and over with. He just wanted to spend his time with his doe. When the call came, he buried John literally ten feet inside the ground from the burning gaze and venom in his voice. He was livid. He specifically told him to not call him. But this current issue needed him. Sighing he paid attention to what the members were saying. It's already noon. When will it be over? In his stead, Elijah forgot something which he will regret.

Meera was happily munching the mangoes, her favorite fruit, sitting on the couch in the living room watching money heist. She was so engrossed in the intense, unpredictable show to bother eating properly. She loved Tokyo. She was fearless, and daring and didn't give a mind about what others thought of her. She does what she believes is right. She wants to be brave like Tokyo. And her all-time favorite, professor. She can't describe how much she admires him and his intelligence. He is a genius, period.

She smudged and smeared the mango and its juice on her face. When the last episode of season four ended, she got up from the couch and headed to the kitchen to wash her face and hands. While washing, she thought back to this morning when Elijah softly whispered and kissed her ear asking her to wake up. For some strange reason, her heart fluttered from his sweetness. She knows she shouldn't but she can't help how she feels. Her mind still hates him but her body doesn't. And when she woke up completely he placed breakfast on her lap saying it was his today's bed breakfast if it even makes sense. Nonetheless, she ate it and it tasted wonderful. Sighing, she closed the tap, cleaning dry her hands and face with a fresh towel. Turning towards the glass walls, she saw the dark angry grey clouds in the sky, drizzling rain falling on the high tide waves of the ocean. And she was sure this rain will soon turn heavy and make complete havoc in the ocean.

She has never seen a sea storm before in her life. She felt scared. A little afraid. The storm has yet to get worse. She prayed for the safety of the sea creatures. She can't imagine herself struggling and surviving in this gruesome storm. Shivering, she turned around to go back to watch her show when a shattering sound was heard all over the kitchen and living room. She froze, scared for a second wondering who it might be. Elijah was upstairs and still in a meeting in his office and there was no one other than them there. It frightened her, the thought of some ghosts crossed her mind. Shaking her head thinking ghosts don't exist and believing it might be a bird taking refuge from the storm. She slowly walked back into the living room, looking at the back of the couch where flowers and glass pieces were scattered. The sound of glass being placed on a hard surface came from behind the couch. She gulped upon hearing it. Swallowing, with shaky steps, she turned the corner and saw someone crouched down picking up the pieces. A scream cut through her throat involuntarily seeing a human being. It was strange. Elijah told her that they were the only living humans here. It can't be possible. It had to be a ghost. Shaking her head she stepped back, screaming for help, startling the already-startled person,

"Help!!! Somebody save me, help! Elijah!!!!"

the person understanding her misconception tried to calm her down but it did nothing. He slowly approached her stepping back figure. He saw sweat covering her forehead, her hands shaking. Keeping his hands before him, he said softly,

"Ma'am, don't get scared I am the house staff, please calm down"

Picking up a nearby antique vase on the table beside her, she raised it in the air saying shakily,

"Don't come near me or I will hit you, you ghost!!!"

"Ma'am please, I am not a ghost. I am house staff, my name is Scott. Please calm down"

Shuddering Meera only screamed more from the top of her lungs,

"Elijah!!! Elijah!!! Save me, there's a ghost, Elijah!!!!"

Sighing, Scott decided to stay where he was. His boss will definitely come downstairs hearing her. He shivered unconsciously thinking about the consequences of his foolish act. His boss will surely kill him now. He has clearly ordered the five of them here and the other five on the nearby coast to never come in front of his wife. And now he did just that. He can only pray for his life.

Seeing Scott stand in his place she shut down. Slowly she placed the vase down on the table keeping her gaze on him in case he did something. Decided to make a run upstairs to the bedroom she turned towards the stairs when Elijah ran down, shouting,

"Doe!! Where are you?"

Seeing Elijah, relief washed over her body and immediately she flung herself into his arms when his foot touched the ground floor. Shaking in his tight embrace, she cried out in answer to his question,

"What happened doe? Are you hurt? Why were you shouting?"

"There's a ghost Elijah!"

"Huh?"

Frowning in confusion he wondered if he heard right. Hugging her shaking body tighter, he again asked her,

"There are no such things, doe. What happened?"

Pulling back she yelled at him in desperation,

"Why won't you believe me? There's a ghost! Look there, it's there"

She pointed her finger at Scott in accusation. Scott only kept shut, silently watching his boss's gaze land on him. He stilled completely in utter fear, seeing his commanding Satan of boss's eyes darken in anger. He was gone now.

Meera hid behind Elijah in fear, again getting aware of the presence of the 'ghost'. She silently pleaded with him,

"Please make it disappear, Elijah, get rid of it"

Elijah clenched his jaw tightly in rage. His eyes blazing fire on Scott who was trembling pitifully. He never expected to see him here when he heard the fearful voice of his doe screaming for help interrupting his meeting which was almost over. He immediately shut off his Mac book and ran down to her. He was worried about what happened to his doe. Was she hurt? But here he was facing Scott, the supposed ghost, his doe mistaken him for. His eyes darted to the flowers and glass pieces behind him. It didn't take a genius like him a second to figure out what really happened but still, he asked her, calmly,

"What happened, doe?"

Looking over his shoulder, a little calm, Meera uttered in a small voice,

"I was in the kitchen when I heard glass shattering. Coming here I saw this ghost collecting the pieces"

"Are you hurt, doe?"

asked Elijah blandly glaring Scott down. He felt her shake her head. He understood where she was coming from. He told her that nobody was there and suddenly seeing someone she was bound to have a reaction but this one. Sighing, she definitely is childish, he thought.

Elijah was seething in rage. He clearly ordered everyone on staff to never show themselves to his doe. Scott did a grave mistake. He saw his doe. Alone. He wanted to kill him. And Scott knew the results of ever breaking his rules so he wanted to know why he, still dared to do it. He himself came with a reason which included Scott trying to see his doe, his, who nobody can without his permission see. In a glacial voice, Elijah asked Scott whose blood ran cold hearing the dangerous edge in his boss's voice,

"What are you doing here?"

Biting his quivering lips, Scott mustered barely, answering,

"I came here to fix the electricity for the incoming storm. After I was done in the basement I came upstairs to go back to the back house but I saw the television on and nobody was there. I couldn't help to turn it off seeing the bad weather and in case lightning struck. On my way back, mistakenly I broke the vase. I decided to clean the mess before someone hurt themselves. While picking the pieces, ma'am saw me, screaming ghost. I tried to calm her down"

He knew not to stutter in front of Elijah. The punishment would be worse otherwise. Looking down he waited for his inevitable doom.

Meera was confused hearing him. Electricity? Back house? What was happening? She couldn't grasp the fact that he was not a ghost but instead a human, other than the two of them. And it seemed Elijah knew it. Loosening her hold on his shirt, she stepped back away from him. Reality dawned on her. Her heart raced, thinking back at the time of their date, Elijah couldn't do the decorations alone. Why didn't she realize it before? Looking back and forth between Elijah and Scott she raced her mind to everything which happened until now. She was hurt and angry. He was so cruel.

Elijah was so livid to bother seeing his doe who looked hurt and angry. His only focus was on Scott. He wanted to punish him right now. Slowly he approached him in predatory steps, saying,

"You deserve severe punishment for the act you did, Scott"

"I do, sir"

admitted Scott in a shaky voice. He knew any wrong word will worsen the situation. But before Elijah could do anything else, Meera roared,

"You lied to me!!"

Elijah stopped. He forgot about her. Turning back, he saw her seething, her fists clenched, eyes filled with angry tears. He stepped towards her but she showed her palm, accusingly saying,

"You told me nobody lived here but what is this? Did you enjoy fooling me? Tell me. Did it feel good to keep me away from civilization like a criminal? Tell me. Did it satisfy you to play with me and my feelings?"

She completed with utter hurt. Her heart ached badly. She couldn't believe his cruelty. His possessiveness and obsession. He kept her away and was unaware of the people here. Tears slid down her face. She took steps back until her back collided with the glass door. Angrily shouting, she ran outside in the storm towards the ocean after opening the door,

"I hate you! Your presence disgusts me"
