The murmuring grew when all eyes turned to see Lorenzo hugging Vladimir. Even Natasha was speechless. He had rejected hugs and handshakes from all the guests except this one.
"Son, how nice to see you." Son? His father? Natasha pondered.
They embraced for a full minute. Vladimir glued his mouth to Lorenzo's ear, whispering, "I am proud of your strength. Your father will be proud."
"Thank you, old man," he responded, breaking off the hug with a rapid tap on Vladimir's back.
Soon his eyes fell on Natasha's smiling face. Vladimir saw his feet moving toward her. He gripped both of her arms, looking deeply into her eyes. "You are so beautiful," he complimented. Vladimir's eyes became wet with tears, fond memories of his dear wife and daughter crossing his mind.
Natasha felt this man's pain. Whatever he was going through, she thought it wise to embrace him. Pulling him in, she hugged him tightly. "Thank you, sir."
