Days passed and Mother finally felt good enough to walk out once more. The tensions had died down slightly but it was not what she wanted. "Aseel." Mother called out and Aseel walked in. Mother smiled and tapped her legs. Aseel walked over and fell to his knees resting his head on her lap. She played with his hair.
"Mother needs you to do something for me. Can you do it?" Aseel nodded gently and with it, Mother stroked his hair. "I need you to change into nice clothes and go to the Mayoral building. Once there hand this note to a worker." Mother grabbed the note and passed it to the man, who took it with great care. "Make sure you do this well. Mother can't have mistakes."
Aseel nodded with even more desperation but was soothed by Mother who shushed him. "Good." Aseel clung to her leg lightly and she gave a small laugh. "Five minutes and then be good and do this for me." With a dejected nod, he closed his eyes and enjoyed the comfort he would get for a short time.
