Snowid's fist slammed into the table. Those around him flinched; the bloodlust from his body right now made everyone gulp. "Two grain storages. AND WE ONLY KILLED FIVE!" Those outside his tent could hear his roaring voice. "Get me those we captured. And send a rider to Micheal to hurry him up." Those around him quickly bowed, leaving Snowid alone in his tent with one knight.
"We have to attack. If we don't retaliate, the Kingdom will get suspicious." The knight spoke without care of Snowid's current state. Despite the lack of respect in the man's voice, the king took a deep breath, calming himself.
"Don't worry. I have a plan for tomorrow." His face contorted into a cruel smile, making him look like a demon. The knight's returning smile was a stark contrast, looking innocent.
"We have movement from the Commonwealth's camp." William walked into Alfred's tent as he ate his meal. "There is a problem, however." Alfred put down his spoon, quickly following behind William as he led him to the front.
The Commonwealth troops marched slowly up the hill, a row of Calvery watching them from behind. Despite the slow advance, his soldier refused to fire their bows. Nailed to planks of wood, four Kingdom soldiers screamed in pain as the Commonwealth soldiers marched behind them. Alfred squinted his eyes in displeasure. His soldiers didn't know what to do, refusing to follow the orders to shoot.
"Give me that." Alfred took a bow of one of the archers near him. Aiming, he gritted his teeth, releasing the arrow towards one of the human shields. The face of the soldier showed a look of shock and betrayal before the light in his eyes slowly faded. Those around Alfred looked at him in shock other than William. "Do not feel guilty about shooting your arrows at our brothers. We are releasing them of their misery, sending their souls to our great lord." Everyone's reaction told him he needed one more push. "Look. Our great lord Sol is happily receiving their souls. Do not fear, for he will understand that you are not murdering your people but relieving them of a prolonged death."
The people looked at one another but steeled themselves, believing their actions were fine. They had heard stories about Alfred being resurrected. They wanted to believe in his connection with divinity to justify their actions. William looked around the soldiers and gave a satisfied smile. He could have forced them to kill their people, but he knew it would be a hit to morale. Alfred's way out for them was necessary to remove the guilt.
Snowid looked at the dead soldier. He knew that his plan had failed. "ALL SOILDERS! CHARGE!" His call broke the orderly line kept as they ran up the hill. The Kingodm's soldiers quickly prepared for the charge, holding their lance.
Alfred stood at the front with Chris by his side. He stared Snowid down as his beast-like appearance led his men into battle. 20 meters. 10 meters. 5 meters. His heart raced as time seemed to slow. He broke into a smile, unable to contain it as his first taste of battle quickly approached.
BANG. The sound of an explosion spread as the two forces collided. Alfred stabbed his sword through the shield wall, stabbing into a Commonwealth soldier in front. He felt the weight of the body on his blade. The excitement inside grew as the reality of war became real for him. "CHRIS!" His young voice shouted as the sound of men roaring drowned him out. "WHERE IS SNOWID?"
Chris scanned the battlefield, pointing into the distance. Alfred backed up and jumped. He saw Snowid with a long broadsword, easily destroying the people blocking him. His eyes widened, seeing the shield wall slowly crumble under the might of Snowid. "CHRIS! DEAL WITH HIM! PROTECT THE RIGHT!" Alfred saw the conflict on his face, knowing he wished to stay and protect Alfred. It annoyed him. "ARE YOU IGNORING MY ORDERS? IF HE BREAKS THROUGH THE RIGHT, I MAY DIE ANYWAY! GO!" Chris gritted his teeth but nodded, running off.
"HAHAHA." Snowid laughed as he swung his sword down once again. The soldiers before him held fear in their eyes, looking at the monster before them. Once again, he swung his sword, pushed away by a black shield. His eyes widened before curling into a cruel smile. "The shadow of the Ammary Kings. I'm honoured." His mocking tone held a deep desire to fight. Chris's face still held a stern look. Despite this, a small sliver of respect could be found in his eyes for Snowid as a warrior.
Snowid swung his greatsword downwards. Chris slightly jumped back, avoiding the blow. His eyes widened as Snowid swung back up. His inhuman strength had caught him off guard. He kicked the floor, throwing himself back. A shallow wound spread across his chest. Chris got to his feet and moved back into position, touching his wound, the crimson blood dying his hand red. Snowid's lips curled up in pleasure. "Your not bad shadow." Snowid held his sword to his side as Chris charged in.
He swung his shield like a blade towards Snowid's neck before stabbing his sword into Snowid's stomach. The king moved his head slightly back, avoiding the shield. He threw his free hand downwards onto the blade. His gauntlet hit it to the ground. A swift kick flew at Chris, sending the knight to the floor. His eyes opened in surprise as he looked into the sky. Snowid's power was overwhelming, and his fighting style was like a beast. The large blade fell in front of his eyes, awakening Chris from his surprise.
Quickly, he rolled to the side as the sword cleaved into the ground.
Chris threw himself to his feet again. His eyes betrayed his face, fear slowly filling them. Snowid attacked again, not taking a breath. His shield slammed the blade into the ground. It gave him time to breathe, moving slightly back. Despite this, he knew that he couldn't retreat. He had to hold the line until the Commonwealth chose to retreat.
"Kid." A powerful voice came from behind Chris. William stood there in silver armour, broadsword in hand. "Move." He pushed Chris to the side, stepping towards Snowid. The battle around them seemed to steer clear from the two as their aura warped the air around them. Snowid's eyes turned serious as he watched the old Duke calmly walk forward.
The greatsword fell to Snowid's side again. He reached out to grab William with his left hand. William didn't back down. He charged forward, charging his shoulder into the man's chest, causing him to lose his balance. William took his chance. The hilt of his blade swung into Snowid's face. His nose exploded into a crimson spray as William jumped back. He swung his broadsword down.
Snowid ignored his broken nose. With one hand, he swung the Greatsword up to intercept the attack. His veins bulged as his eyes turned bloodshot. William looked surprised as the swords collided, pushing him back for the sheer weight.
"AAAHHHHHH!" An animalistic scream escaped Snowid's mouth. He kicked into William's chest, pouncing backwards as he retreated behind his men. His breathing was laboured, and his arm shook. It had taken everything to block the attack, and he knew he couldn't fight properly. The soldiers around saw their king retreat as morale quickly plummeted. A frenzied charge down the hill began.
"HOLD YOUR POSITIONS!" William didn't order a chase, seeing the rows of cavalry in the distance. The eager men held their positions, watching the fleeing men, but archer fire rained down on them. William looked at his hands. They were numb from the hit. It felt like a hit from a bear, not a human. His chest armour had a small dent from the kick, reinforcing this belief. Despite that, he was satisfied with the outcome.
