Chapter 79 - Vermin extermination part 1

(Rudeus POV)

So~, the insects are immortal, no biggie. I mean, it does bring A LOT of problems to deal with, but that couldn't possibly mean they have no limitations in regeneration. How long could they conceivably last? Hours? Days? Weeks…? O by the greatness of my dear beloved goddess Roxy, please don't let it be months.

Okay, everything is fine. I just need to find Sandor or North God. Once I get an opening, they could unleash their immortal killing technique. At least if the first North God taught it.

Yeah, that's a good plan. I can either wait for them to come here (because I'm being too loud NOT to be noticed on the far edge of the city), or I can try to get these things over to them. Okay, let's go with the latter one.

After bringing out the Oni in her, I got the fairy's full attention. Man, do I not like how I turned her from a bored beauty to a furious devil.

Now, how do I get the attention of the other two inse— aaannnd Eris is charging ahead at the fairy insect.

I highly doubt her swordsmanship will even do any lasting scratches, especially when she worked with Jino and still couldn't finish them. *Sigh* Well, she is called Mad Dog for a reason.

Dashing off with my Sea Dragon dagger claws (I couldn't come up with a better name), I assisted her by putting the attention of the angered fairy at me.

Her force field slowed down my attack and made it stop just a few inches before hitting her. She was about to swing her right hand across me, but Eris beheaded her, making whatever gravity-based attack in that hand lose shape.

Once the force field was gone, I did the next best thing to do here. Kick the fairy's head away like in a soccer ball, but aim for an intentional out.

Unfortunately, the morphing insect saw this coming and used one of its tentacles to catch the head as it was about to fly over the building.

The muscle insect then charged at me, its right arm crackling from tensing its muscles and launching at me with incredible force.

Eris was in its trajectory, with me standing between her and the incoming fist.

I launched my own fist strike, the arrowheads going right through the broad fist before it got stuck from all the incredibly dense muscle tissue.

To compensate for my attack, I charged electricity through my left arm, but the monster swung its other fist to grab my head before my mana fully went through my arm.

I countered it by using my right claw and severing the hand, but through immense willpower, it used its stump to still punch me in the face.

I blocked it with a barrier formed on my face, using the momentum of being thrown back to swing my right leg upwards and kick it against the insect's chin. My claws were still stuck inside its arm, so I was dragged along.

Then, the morphing insect sent out six of its barbed tentacles as the unconscious muscle insect moved me through my stuck arm.

With my left hand stuck on the muscle insect, I made myself lighter, being a deviant to physics once more, and used it as a stand to twist my body and kick the tentacles away.

Once I was back on the ground again, I lifted the body of the muscle insect with Gravity Magic to use it as a meat shield against any incoming attacks from the morphing insect as I advanced toward it.

But instead of hitting its brethren, I morphed the tips of its several tentacles into spinning stinger drills and launched them at my back with better control than when it used them as whips.

Having already experienced fighting this monster, Eris and Jino came in to intercept the stingers before they could reach me.

I shouldn't be surprised about Eris assisting, but Jino? When I first met him, he seemed like a nervous kid. What is his current drive? Must be Nina.

Biting into my right arm, I charged it through my teeth. Right before I came close enough, I threw the muscle insect's body away and struck the morphing insect, which got its head split apart from a Sea Dragon arrow shot by Sara.

Instead of a knuckle barrage, I unleashed a claw assault with the arrowheads, including the extra one, slicing and dicing the insect into many electrocuted pieces and effectively emancipating it.

Just when I was done mutilating this abomination, I felt like the mana around me was getting heavier.

Knowing who was doing this, I dodged whatever attack she sent after me.

To my surprise, it was an invisible blade, similar to [Flamslice] or [Windslice] but in Gravity Magic style. This blade seems to tear apart anything the edge comes in contact with, given how it splits the ground. It's a good thing no one besides me was in its line of trajectory except for the empty school building.

The not-so-good thing is that my habit of pissing off brute females is biting my ass... again. Seriously, even her eyes light out a slight crimson!

The fairy swung her hand again, and another invisible blade launched at me.

Gravity traps all around me, but those were easily located by my Magic Eye and senses.

Her tactic to make me step on one of them was rather predictable. Launching a slash slightly to my right to direct me toward the traps lined on my left.

Right for the slicing blade or left to the crushing trap? I chose the only correct option. Up.

Making my body lighter, I jumped up, narrowly dodging a potential foot severance and only losing a portion of my remaining robe.

The Fairy was about to launch another blade when two [Fireball] spells, sent by Timothy and Anastasia, hit her from both sides.

While it didn't do much damage, it seems that the force field cannot be used during the setup for the invisible blade. But it made her lose control over her traps everywhere.

Since that's the case, I quickly landed and used the smoke from the explosion as cover to sneak below that levitating monstress just to do an uppercut that sliced her in half.

This move I just copied from a game would have fit perfectly for the muscle insect, who regenerated already, and now that I have a better look at it as it came charging at me, it has the identical body as some of the more brawnier characters. Well, if he had clothes on and didn't have a beetle head.

But enough of that.

The fairy's severed body flopped on the shaking ground as the mass of muscle and no brain stomped like crazy before jumping up, bawling its fists, and placing it behind its head, the Touki in its fists gathering like a whirlpool.

"Oh shit!" I exclaimed, seeing with my Foresight Eye what was about to come.

As generic as this was getting, this is bound to get dangerous.

Upon landing, it smashed its fist on the ground, creating a shockwave that rippled across the campus, throwing people and rubles around the place and causing buildings to crash.

I worked on blocking objects from hitting any person while also killing the last of the smaller insects that seemed insignificant to their three leader brethren. Dust blinded the entire area, but people used this to evacuate.

The morphing insect just began swinging barbed tentacles around randomly, which did not help their sight either. The fairy also seems to have regenerated, joining her sibling at its blind shooting.

"Oh, they don't have detection?" I amusingly said before feeling with my senses that the three started fighting each other.

Minor shockwaves, invisible blades, and barbed tentacles flew around the place with no mommy here to break off the violent sibling fight. They seem to blame each other for failing to defeat me.

"Let's use that to our advantage."

Getting ahold of my giant shuriken, I circled the three while they were still fighting. Picking up on speed and ambient mana as I did so, a whirlwind of dust blinded the sight of them.

Whenever the fairy or morphing insect sent out an attack, I would speed up or slice it with my shuriken.

I felt on fire, probably because of all the lightning intensifying inside this body. Or perhaps because I set off a fire from the escaping lightning from me, wherever and whatever that may be.

Alright. To finish my little stroll around the sibling fight, I jumped right in between the insects, my momentum from running in circles still in force, and swung my shuriken before they could react fast enough and shredded them like in a blender, with me being the center wheel.

The fairy had her shield set on the other side; the muscle insect hopelessly thought it could block it, and the morning insect tried to escape by expanding its mass. Still, all of them fell to the devastating power that is the element of lightning and anime weapons.

After about 30 seconds, I accidentally lost my grip on my weapon, and it crashed into the remains of the last school building. It was okay. I would rebuild them later anyway, so let's put it in the category of ' Collateral Damage'.

Once the dust cleared off, my surroundings were clearly in shambles.

People started to come out of hiding, awaiting my victory announcement, but it was far from over.

The remains of the insects were already gathering. It seems that their cells all act individually but also come back together. During that time, they are immobile until they become whole enough.

This actually brings me to another idea. If separating their cells is what's needed to immobilize them enough, then there is only one spell in my repertoire that could do it best, and it's one I can only access in this form.

Perhaps we don't need the help of the two Kalmans.

"Hehehe~, this is gonna be wild." My anticipation is sparking from the thought alone.
