The Elders continued their lecture on joki with the Six Students.
"Joki has a wide variety of applications including but not limited to Healing Techniques, Communication, Combat Techniques, Sensory Techniques and Extra-Sensory Techniques" Victor Vern explained.
"Extra-Sensory Techniques? What are those?" Fleur asked.
"You know that most humans utilize five senses right?" Buern asked Fleur.
"Yes, the senses of sight, smell, taste, hearing and feeling" Fleur replied.
"You've also heard that there are cases when a person has their other senses sharpened after losing one of their senses right? This sharpening of the senses is a kind of extra-sensory perception" Buern explained.
"I see. Thanks Buern" Fleur looked grateful.
"Extra-Sensory Perception is basically an expansion of one or more of these five senses" William Fenix explained.
"An expansion of the senses? Is that even possible?!" Fleur seemed amazed by the topic.
"It is. The ability to see joki for instance is a form of extra-sensory perception, an expansion of the sense of sight. Most at times a person achieves extra-sensory perception when their awareness is heightened" William Fenix explained.
"There are two major hurdles to achieving extra-sensory perception. The first has to do with one's personal belief systems especially with regards to what is possible or impossible. After all, one cannot see what one believes to be non-existent because they are unlikely to seek it out. The second hurdle has to do with standards and norms. In other words, what one believes to be a normal or ideal situation and what one believes to be abnormal. This barrier usually presents a vague perception of what an object is but prevents one from clearly perceiving the object" Victor Vern explained.
"Once these barriers are overcome, one's awareness is strengthened and a person's usual senses fuse to awaken a new sense, a sense of perception" William Fenix explained.
"This sense of perception has many applications including the ability to allow one to perceive invisible realities, to sift out lies from the truth and overcome illusions. An example of this is the Eyes Of The Phoenix inherited by members of the Fenix Clan. The Eyes Of The Phoenix allow one to perceive the needs of allies, the weaknesses of adversaries as well as invisible realities and their effects on the current reality. All these combine to grant an additional sense. A sense of foresight" William Fenix explained.
The Students shifted their gaze from the three Elders to Josec.
"However, the Eyes Of The Phoenix are not the only case of extra-sensory perception amongst Jo-lan Warriors. There have been cases when the mixture of joki between two combatants or amongst allies has allowed them to perceive the emotions of each other. Here, the sense of feeling is expanded instead of the sense of sight. The Class Of Rune Knight for instance, a legendary Jo-lan Class currently dormant in the Bane Clan, allowed Jo-lan Warriors of the past fused through the Psychorage Fusion to perceive one another's joys and pains, almost as though they were one massive body thriving on a multitude of cells" Lucas Bane explained.
"I see. It's like the ability I gained to perceive all activity within Josec's Zone Of Absolute Defense after channeling my joki through his Zone at exactly the same wavelength" Buern noted.
William Fenix nodded.
"Exactly, when one is able to match an ally's joki at exactly the same wavelength, they become able to perceive everything the ally perceives. This range of vision extends as far as the ally's joki and if the ally's joki is in sync with the joki of others, it becomes possible to perceive what they perceive as well" William Fenix explained.
"In this case, unlike with the Eyes Of The Phoenix that predominantly harnesses depth perception, this type of extra-sensory perception grants one ranged vision or if I might put it in another way, field or zone perception" William Fenix explained.
"Advanced Jo-lan Martial Artists are also able to sense changes in the wind generated by an opponent's attack and react to an opponent's attack. This ability greatly increases one's ability to counterattack" William Fenix explained.
"That's true. That ability amplifies foresight as well" Buern noted.
"Why don't you practice extra-sensory techniques for a bit before resuming your lesson? It should be easier to do now that you six can perform a Fusion Psychorage. All you have to do is sync your wavelengths to one another" Victor Vern explained.
The Students nodded.
Josec hit each of them with lightning and they all assumed lightning improvisations. They matched wavelengths with one another as well. Then Josec generated his Zone Of Absolute Defense. The Students channeled their joki into Josec's Zone and realized that they could perceive everything within Josec's Zone in extraordinary detail.
"I see. So this is the ranged perception the Elders spoke about" Fleur noted.
Jason was impressed as well. Estelle, Harry and Buern were not too surprised since they had utilized this technique in battle against Raichuu.
"I think I finally understand why the Masters Of Jo-lan keep extending their joki about the continents we've been to" Josec admitted.
