After a few days of travelling on a ship, we finally arrived at our destination.
I say ship, but this thing was absolutely gigantic.
The pride and joy of the Ignitian fleet. The Revenant. An 'Aircraft Carrier' that doubled as a destroyer class ship. It held many fighter jets, attack helicopters, and was outfitted with every type of turret weapon.
Rail guns, plasma cannons, laser turrets, missile launchers, machine guns... It even had a few nuclear warheads to use in case the arms treaty had been broken.
Basically, if it could cause mass destruction and death, it was on this ship.
Additionally, there were many other ships surrounding this one. Destroyers, troop and vehicle carriers, other aircraft carriers, and the like.
Leiso's military might was truly a sight to behold.
As soon as we reached the destination far enough away from the port, I could see just a bit of land in the distance. From what I could tell...Port Davis wasn't just a high volume military port.
It was an enormous city. And I was about to send it straight to hell.
An officer walked up to Leiso who was standing near us and saluted.
"Ma'am!" He said.
"At ease, lieutenant. Report!" Leiso said.
"Ma'am! We've reached the destination that you marked on the map. All ships are ready to do battle with Nexian naval forces at any moment. Additionally, Enforcer Mizik Iratus is clear to fire as soon as he is ready!"
"Good. Prepare the other ships to receive the welcoming party. I doubt they'll just let us destroy their port and walk in unhindered. As soon as Mizik fires, they'll probably attack," Leiso said.
The soldier saluted her again.
"Yes ma'am! Orders received!"
At that point, he turned and walked quickly away.
Then Leiso turned to me as Isabella placed her hand on my shoulder.
She could tell I was nervous...
"Mizik, are you okay?" Leiso asked.
"Not really..." I said.
"Seasickness?" Leiso said.
"No, it's just...A LOT of people are probably about to die... I've never killed so many people on such a large scale..." I said.
"Don't think of them as people. They're the enemy. Disconnect your emotions and exterminate them like the vermin they are. Don't forget, if their roles were reversed, they would not hesitate. Imagine your beloved Isabella being caught in an attack like that. How does that make you feel?" Leiso said coldly.
"I can't think about it... It's too painful to imagine. It makes me angry..." I said as I gritted my teeth and looked over at the port on the horizon.
She made a good point. Leiso had been doing this a lot longer than me.
I took a deep breath and exhaled.
"This spell is going to obliterate that port. It'll to take a few minutes to mentally and physically prepare myself. Lastly...charging the spell itself might take a bit," I said.
"Take as much time as you need. But try to be quick. They might've already noticed our presence and we would prefer to take them by surprise... Nevertheless, I trust your ability," Leiso said.
"Just do your best alright, Mizik?" Jallah said.
"Dude, this is going to be sick! I can't wait!" Michael said enthusiastically.
"If you're worried about fighting, don't be. The other Enforcers are here to assist. Jallah and Rune will be here until we set up our camp as well. Also, you can trust Isabella," Iris said.
Isabella clung to my arm and smiled at me.
"I'm here for you, Mizik. Actually, I've been working on a better way to transfer energy to you. That way, you won't pass out!" She said.
"Oh! I almost forgot!" Iris said suddenly.
She handed me a piece of paper with a bunch of different words scribbled on it.
"What's this...?" I asked hesitantly.
"Ehm...they're...umm...incantations! Yeah! If you say one of those out loud, it'll make the spell stronger!" She said.
I looked at the paper.
"By the wrath of Iris, I smite thee, evil Overlords. Come now, and face justice. Come forth, my power...Iris what the hell is this going to do for me!?" I said angrily.
"It's cool, okay!? It'll be awesome!!! Just do it!! Pleeeaaaassssse?" She said hopefully.
You're supposed to be a goddess!? These are clearly not incantations!!!
"Ugh...fine..." I said.
"Lady Iris, is this really necessay...?" Leiso said.
"YES, IT'S NECESSARY!!!" Iris shouted.
"Oh, very well... Mizik, let's just get on with it..." Leiso said.
"Sure... I'm going to start now," I said.
"Give 'em hell, Warmage," Gavin said with a smile.
"Leave none left alive. Show them the true power of the Enforcers. FOR IRIS! FOR IGNITUS!!!" Dante said as he raised his fist.
Carlos simply gave a silent nod.
"Everyone, stand back," I said.
I took another deep breath and began generating ether particles. Over the next few minutes magic circles slowly began to form around me.
Once that was done, I could start casting the spell itself.
I felt Isabella place a hand on my back as I strained myself.
Energy flowed into me and I began to slowly relax.
Everyone looked at the area above the port in awe. It was cloaked from below, but we could still see it.
As I examined the ever increasing amount of pure ether, I started to realize exactly what was about to happen.
This spell would be more explosive than I originally thought...and these people had no idea what they were about to die instantly.
At the very least...I could offer them a painless release.
"Everyone...you might want to brace yourselves... HOLD ONTO SOMETHING! GET READY!" I shouted.
The magic circles around me intensified greatly as more energy poured into the spell.
I named the spell, by the way. Saying the name of a spell magnified its power by a margin based on the spell's strength...
If I called out the name, it would mean absolute doom for everything in the area.
Isabella suddenly stepped back as the intense magic started to cause her a headache.
Everyone else had already stepped away. The Enforcers looked somewhat sick...
And just as suddenly as it began... I finished charging the spell.
"COME FORTH, MY...POWER!!! FACE THE WRATH AND SORROW OF...THE ULTIMATE GODDESS OF BALANCE AND HER ENFORCERS!!! ETHER STRIKE!!!!" I shouted.
I feel like a jackass...
Suddenly the cloaking spell wore off over the port...and several gigantic magic circles appeared in a pillar formation in the sky.
A cyan-blue beam of light shot straight down.
Moments later...
There was an incredibly bright flash of light.
We all watched in awe as the horizon was engulfed in an explosion of incredible magnitude...
But...
"THE POWER IS TOO GREAT! ISABELLA! SHIELD US!!!" Iris shouted.
Isabella shot forward and raised her hands. Several layers of barriers appeared in front of all of us... Or rather, the entire fleet. She held then as strongly as she could...
The impact shockwave of the explosion slammed into the barriers and shattered them all.
We were all thrown off of our feet as Leiso tried hard to calm the waves in the water. Gavin used his wind power to stabilize everything.
Luckily, the explosion itself didn't reach this far. Just the shockwave from it...
A moment later, everyone shakily stood to their feet.
Except me, of course...I couldn't move at all.
I felt like an idiot, casting a spell that rendered me motionless...
"SO COOOOOL!!!! YES!!! THAT WAS AMAZING!!! JUST LIKE IN MY COMIC BOOKS!!! YES YES YES!!!" Iris squealed.
"HOLY FUCKING SHIT! THAT WAS AWESOME! DAMN, MIZIK!!!" Michael shouted.
"By the Creator...that was incredible. Port Davis...has been utterly annihilated!" Leiso said.
After that...
"AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!! TAKE THAT, YOU BASTARD!!! TRY TO KILL MY DESCENDANTS, WILL YOU!? THIS IS PAYBACK! YOUR PATHETIC PORT IS NO MATCH FOR...what...?" Leiso said.
She began looking at something but I couldn't tell what. Isabella gave me some of her energy and I slowly stood up.
"I'm level...150 from that...? How many people did you kill...?" Leiso said.
"Looks like...12,523,878...oh man..." Michael said.
I'm going straight to hell when I die... I won't even get a trial. Damn it all!
"Well...mass murder aside...all of my lovely Enforcers now have a fantastic new burst of strength to play with! How about we move into the port now?" Iris said.
"With all due respect, what port? There isn't a port anymore. Just a big-ass crater in the ground. Damn, Mizik...that's some insane firepower..." Gavin said.
"Am I the only one who's worried Leiso has lost her mind?" Michael chimed in.
He was punched by Leiso a moment later.
"GAH!"
"DON'T RUIN THIS FOR ME, YOU DAMN MAGGOT!"
"Leiso...a-are you okay?" I asked shakily.
"I'm amazing! I feel fantastic! And dammit... Why do you have to be married!?" She said angrily.
"Umm...what?" I said.
She smiled at me and looked at Isabella.
"I won't take him from you, but if you somehow lose him, he's mine. Understand?" Leiso said.
"Right...sure..." Isabella said as she slowly stepped in front of me.
"Do I get a say in this...?" I asked.
No one seemed to notice my question.
"I never thought I'd see the day when Leiso was interested in a man other than her late husband..." Dante said.
"As much as I adored that man, he has been dead for 1,500 years. I'm sure he wouldn't mind me moving on..." Leiso said as she glanced at me.
"Umm...your desires aside, shouldn't you be worried about your troops?" Iris said.
"Ah!! SHIT!" Leiso shouted. She ran off to somewhere else and I was left to rest in Isabella's arms.
Quite frankly, Leiso was a bit scary. She was very nice to be around though...
About half an hour passed and Leiso came back.
"No casualties, a few injuries, and a bit of structural damage to some of the ships. Above all else, we are still fully operational. At the same time, we're about to have company," Leiso said.
"Well then, good thing we're all here!" Michael said as he stretched.
"Our radars have picked up activity in the northwest and southwest directions. They're attacking from two directions at once. If Overlord Davis wasn't at the port, then it's likely he will be on one of the ships from those two clusters," Leiso said.
"In other words, everyone prepare for battle!" Dante said.
"Mizik, why don't you sit this one out? You've done enough already, right?" Iris said with a smile.
"Yeah...I'm fine with that. I'll just watch the show since I let them know we're here and all..."
"That's the spirit! I've been itching to show off this new power you gave me!" Michael said as light began to shimmer around him.
As they spoke, Leiso stepped forward with a proud smile.
"This is my battlefield. The ocean is the worst possible place for them to do battle with me and my army!"
Realizing that Leiso had the Water Aspect was truly something amazing. It meant that any ships approaching us were basically doomed to sink... No wonder the Nexian navy had such a hard time fighting her directly...
The entire ocean was a weapon of mass destruction for her!
Leiso raised her hands and several spirals of water began to rise out of the ocean.
Gavin waved his hand and the water was caught in several swirling tornados.
"ENFORCERS! OBLITERATE THEM ALL!" Iris said as she directed them.
"LEISO, GAVIN, CARLOS! TAKE THE SOUTHWEST! MICHAEL, JALLAH AND I WILL TAKE THE NORTHWEST! ISABELLA, SHIELD US AND GIVE SUPPORT!" Dante said.
"SIR!" Everyone said in unison.
As the enemy ships rapidly approached, Isabella, with me at her side, raised her hands with a smile.
I felt a pulse of some kind...and all of a sudden, I felt like I could take on the entire world. The confidence was overwhelming.
At the same time, light began shining around all of our allies.
"ALL WEAPONS FIRE ON THE ENEMY! SHOOT THEM DOWN INDISCRIMINATELY!" Leiso shouted into a comminicator on her wrist.
At once, the weapons on the ships pointed towards the clusters of ships on their respective sides of the Revenant.
They unleashed a barrage of bullets, lazers, rockets, and a barrage of iron thorns began flying out of the water to the southwest.
In mid air, the bullets, rockets, and thorns froze and changed direction towards us.
"So that's where you are...! ISABELLA! SHIELD UP! SOUTHWEST FORCES, CEASE FIRE ON METALLIC WEAPONRY!" Leiso shouted.
The frozen objects fired straight at us and slammed into Isabella's barrier. The enemy ships began firing from both sides and none of their attacks reached us.
Dante began freezing the water in the direction of the northwestern ships to prevent them from moving. Meanwhile, all solid objects fired in that direction would suddenly fall straight into the water.
"Kiyomi is over there! Watch out! JALLAH! RAIN HELL ON THEM!" Dante shouted.
"WITH PLEASURE!" He shouted as he waved his hands towards the northwest. A barrage of lightning shot from his hands as well as the sky above. Several ships went down from the mighty strikes.
At the same time, Michael and Carlos fired light and fire towards the ships.
"THAT'S RIGHT, NOVAK! I BROUGHT EVERYONE! YOUR MOVE, ASSHOLE!" Iris roared with a wide smile.
"GAVIN! TAKE OUT THOSE SHIPS!" Leiso commanded.
"I'LL BLOW 'EM SKY HIGH!" He shouted mightily.
Several exploding tornados extended from the sky on top of the approaching ships and completely wrecked them. Then the sea opened and swallowed several more.
A bright light flashed and several objects came flying at us...
It was hard to tell, but they looked like missiles, iron balls, gigantic metal thorns, and the like.
Davis was using his Creation Aspect to attack.
From what I could tell, it didn't seen like he could move things that didn't have metal in them.
He had to fight like Leiso from a distance to do anything at all to us.
Although, I felt the ship lurch underneath us... Several of our ships began slowly rising out of the water as the Enforcers and Overlords attacks clashed in the sky.
Then the sun flashed and several beams of warped light shot down and pierced our ships.
The scenery was pure chaos... I wanted to do something, but I didn't know if I could. Perhaps I could create another much-smaller ether strike?
These damn Overlords had some serious power in their carefully produced Aspects...
"Magnet God Davis and Supernova Kiyomi... Those two are hell to fight on the water..." Dante said.
He sighed and his flesh began to melt away.
"I WAS HOPING TO AVOID THIS!" Dante shouted.
Shadowy wings of bone sprouted from his back and he jumped off of the ship. He landed on ice and flew straight towards the northwestern battle cluster.
I could see that Rune had also taken control of one of the Revenant's laser turrets. She was shooting down projectiles on both sides with excellent accuracy.
This is pure chaos! Is this what war is really like!?
I felt a pulse of something within me...a hunger to do battle.
And yet...when I looked around, I felt right at home. As if the battlefield itself was where I belonged.
"Mizik? Are you okay?" Isabella asked as I finally managed to stand up straight.
"I think so. I want to help," I said.
"Hm...no. Just stay by me, okay? We have everything under control. Don't you trust us?" She asked.
I frowned when I heard this.
Did I really trust them? Or was I under the impression that I had to do everything?
As I thought about these things, I saw Dante destroying many ships near Kiyomi and at the same time, Leiso and Gavin were annihilating the southwestern fleet.
We had lost a few ships and were outnumbered, but we were still winning by a huge margin.
Leiso continued giving orders to her troops in between attacks and Isabella kept us shielded for the most part.
While Davis was distracted, several massive iron thorns shot out of the water below and skewered many ships. Once their hulls had been breached, they began to sink.
Most of the enemy ships had been eradicated at this point... But even still, the Enforcers continued their assault.
Eventually, the sunlight and gravity attacks from the northwest cluster ceased and I saw Dante fighting someone in the distance up close. It looked like a black-haired woman with a slight tan.
"Gavin! Now! Take out the guns on those ships!" Leiso shouted.
Gavin nodded and raised both of his hands.
Several cyclones of wind shot from the sky like drills and exploded once they reached the turrets and heavy weapons on the Nexian battleships.
At the same time, the guns seemed to be regenerating in a flash of light.
"DAMN YOU, DAVIS! ISABELLA! SEE IF YOU CAN INTERRUPT THAT ASSHOLE!" Leiso shouted.
"On it!" Isabella said as she closed her hands in prayer.
"Umm...okay... Sure, I guess... But you could just ask, you know, Isabella?" Iris said suddenly.
"Iris, just do it..." Isabella said.
Iris channeled divine energy into Isabella and she raised her hands to the sky.
Light exploded from the sky and destroyed a large ship in the middle of all the wreckage. At that point, the remaining ships fell with ease. There was no longer a magnetic field surrounding them.
"Now...GET OVER HERE!" Leiso said as she motioned for someone to come closer.
A swirling wave of water shot towards us with a man wearing a tattered Overlord uniform and he slammed into the deck.
Before he stood up, Leiso was upon him...beating the hell out of him.
"GAH! WHAT IS THIS!? HOW THE HELL HAVE YOU DESTROYED MY BELOVED PORT!? WE AGREED ON NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS!!!" Davis shouted.
Leiso gripped him by the throat and glared at him. Then she pointed at me.
"I'd like you to meet one of our new secret weapons! The Warmage! What he did was a magic spell specially crafted to destroy that blasted port! It wasn't nuclear arms at all!" Leiso said.
Davis glared daggers at me.
"Damn you...if only you didn't exist!" He said.
Just then, Dante returned with the woman he was fighting and held her in his bony hand. He threw her hard at the deck of the Revenant and she crashed into it.
"Ah...how...are you not...affected...?" She gasped.
"You can thank Carlos for that, Kiyomi," Dante said.
Now that both Overlords had been subdued and were in custody, the remaining ships fell with absolute ease. They were utterly annihilated until not a single one remained.
"Ha...hahahahaha.....AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!" Leiso laughed maniacally.
"Ehm...you good, Lei?" Michael said.
"NEVER BETTER! IT'S MY VICTORY, DAVIS, YOU BASTARD!" She shouted.
"You...insufferable wench... Damn you to hell, Iron Tsunami Leiso..." Davis muttered.
"Iris, permission to end his miserable life?" Leiso asked.
"Do it, Leiso. Now," Iris said coldly.
Leiso placed her palm on Davis' face and metal spikes erupted from his skull until his head violently exploded.
His body fell limply to the ground and an orb of light rose from him. It shot into the sky never to be seen again.
At the same time, Kiyomi had gotten to her knees and was begging for her life before Dante.
"I'm sorry! I was only doing like I was told! They would have killed me otherwise! I didn't enjoy any if it, I swear!!! I don't want to die! I haven't even gotten to enjoy immortality!" Kiyomi pleaded.
Dante looked at Iris.
After a moment, she shook her head.
"Yeah...she's definitely lying. She's in charge of the slave overseers, you know? Dante, I order you to end her life right here. No loose ends," Iris said.
"NO! PLEASE IRIS! HAVE MERCY!" Kiyomi shouted.
"You mean like the mercy you showed those humans every day?" Iris said coldly.
Kiyomi's eyes went wide in fear and she looked down at the deck... She didn't speak anymore. She accepted her fate.
Dante grabbed her by the throat and shadows erupted from his hand. They covered her and a second later, she went completely limp.
He dropped her and another orb of light rose from her corpse. It shot into the sky just like it did for Davis.
"Damn...such a waste... I hate to see a pretty girl die, but she just had to be an Overlord, didn't she?" Michael said sadly.
"Don't get soft just because she's a girl. That bitch destroyed four of our battleships. Aside from that, how many people have suffered under her absolute authority as the Prime Overseer?" Leiso said.
"Yeah, I guess. Sorry, it's the gentleman in me talking. I don't like hurting girls, Leiso. Never have, never will," Michael said.
"Well regardless, thank you for your help. You might be insufferable, but you're a damn good soldier. Good job Michael. And good job everyone else," Leiso said.
"This would call for celebration...but first, we should rescue the survivors and establish a base camp. Let's go towards to the crater everyone!" Iris said.
And with that, the Enforcers worked to save the surviving soldiers from the sinking ships and the water.
