THERE IS A MOMENT in every father's life when they realize that they can do nothing to help their children or stop them from making wrong choices. Then they take a step back, evaluate the situation and understand that they need to let them grow up and become the person they are supposed to be.
Hypothetically Mark should have recognized this change sooner in Shiloh, considering how willful and evolved he always seemed to be, standing apart from all the other nineteen- and twenty-year-olds. Shiloh has always been more worldly, wise, and perceptive than his other classmates. Sighing he sat down on a chair in the parlor room loosening his dark green tie, the stress from the week already weighing hard on his shoulders, and as he sipped his cognac, he wished could go back in time to simpler days when he was just a mechanic working at his shop and all he had was his beloved wife and son who liked to dress up in woman's clothing.
Things would never be like that again.
