The room remained silent again. There was only the two of them, accompanied by two cups of tea that had been neglected on the table.
Kelvin leaned back on his sofa casually, staring at the terrified Luliyah in front of him. The woman was like a little rabbit shaking as if Kelvin was a tiger about to pounce on her. She sat up straight, as if afraid that if she did not let her guide down even a little she would be swallowed up.
Luliyah brushed the messy hair on her cheek. Her hand accidentally touched the wound from Mona's slap. The wound stung so she grimaced in pain.
Kelvin watched Luliyah's movements. He could see her grimace as she touched her cheek. Kelvin's body immediately stiffened when he thought that something had happened to Luliyah. He immediately got up from his seat, leaned forward and held her chin so that he could see her face clearly.
His hand held her chin a little hard because he was too hasty, making her whine in pain. Vaguely, Kelvin could see the scars covered by Luliyah's powder. The wound was so disguised that he could not tell with one look.
It was at times like this that Kelvin felt very annoyed at his vision ability. His eyes were not as perfect as they used to be so he missed many things. With his previous vision, the slightest thing would not escape his attention, especially matters concerning Luliyah. Now, he didn't even realize that Luliyah was hurt just because she covered the wound with powder.
Luliyah didn't know what to do when Kelvin held her chin. She was stunned when she saw Kelvin's face in front of her. She could see that handsome face very clearly. The man's face was really close to hers. Luliyah's face immediately turned red until her ears felt hot with embarrassment. She was not used to being close to a man.
Kelvin paid no heed to Luliyah's flushed face and continued to observe the scratches on her cheek. His body stiffened, holding back the emotions he felt in his heart. Who did this to her?
Realizing that Kelvin had no intention of letting go, She immediately stepped back and tugged on her head. She tried to get away from Kelvin's hand and smiled faintly as if she wanted to imply that she was okay.
"I am fine. I just accidentally scratched my face with my nail." Luliyah said.
Kelvin returned back to his seat, but he was not as calm as before. The aura emanating from him was terrifying. Even though the anger was not directed at her, she could still feel the terror.
Kelvin knew she was lying. He could see her short, neatly trimmed fingernails. Such nails would not leave scars on the cheek. He felt even more annoyed that e couldn't ask her to explain. He was nothing to Luliyah. If she refused to explain what happened, he won't force her.
Seeing Kelvin at this time, Luliyah felt confused. Why is the man in front of her suddenly angry? Is it because of she refused to meet him earlier?
"I apologize for refusing your pick up earlier. But I really need your help now." Luliyah decided to come clean at last.
"What kind of help?" Kelvin asked coldly. Actually, he already got information about Luliyah, but he was in a bad mood so his attitude was very cold.
"I need money for my mother's hospital bills. Can you give me a loan? I will return it as soon as possible." Luliyah took a deep breath and continued, "Or I can work for you."
She felt very tense when she said it. Kelvin was the only person she could turn to for help. If he refused, what will she do?
Kelvin just stared back at her with an unpredictable expression. Luliyah didn't know if he would help or not. There was no pity or look of disgust on Kelvin's face.
"Why do I have to help you? Don't you know me?" He asked.
"You are right." Indeed, Luliyah did not know the man in front of her. After trying to remember over and over again, she still couldn't recall the memory of this man. But Kelvin acted as if they knew each other well.
Seeing that Luliyah couldn't answer, he asked again, "You still don't remember me?"
"Have we met before? Do we know each other?" Luliyah replied his question with another question. She really couldn't remember him. After all, if they really knew each other, how could she possibly forget a figure like Kelvin?
"Try to remember for yourself," Kelvin said briefly. Kelvin didn't even give the slightest hint regarding their relationship.
"I'll try to remember, but I really need help right now." Luliyah kept begging Kelvin. "I can be your personal assistant. I'm willing to do any work."
"I don't need a personal assistant. Harris alone is enough to help with all my work." Kelvin replied coldly.
Luliyah didn't know who Harris was, but from he way Kelvin spoke, it seems like Harris was his confidant. Then what kind of work can she do? She did not have any special abilities other than making perfumes.
"Then, I can be your servant. I can clean this office, or even clean your house." Luliyah was really desperate. She was willing to do any work as long as it was lawful and it could pay her mother's medical bills.
"I already have many servants." Kelvin replied simply.
Luliyah felt the hope in her heart dashed. The fault was hers. Why did she refuse to meet with Kelvin earlier and make the man so angry? Now he didn't want to help her and she had lost her last hope. Where else should I go for help?
She lowered her head and tried to figure out what she could do to persuade Kelvin.
However, her brain didn't seem to be working well. She couldn't come up with any idea.
Kelvin could see the confusion on Luliyah's face when he refused to help her. It was not that he didn't want to help her, he didn't need a personal assistant or servant. He had other plans for her.
"I can help you, Kelvin said, looking straight at Luliyah. That one sentence made Luliyah's head look up. Her eyes that had previously lost hope was now sparkling with new hopes. She stared back at Kelvin and said haltingly, "You... You want to help me?". She asked.
"Hmm..." Kelvin muttered while nodding his head.
Luliyah was so excited that she felt like jumping from her chair. Finally! Finally there was someone who wanted to assist her.
"I want to do anything. I can clean the house, cook, clean. I can also lift things". Luliyah said enthusiastically.
She looked at Kelvin with expectation, waiting for what job to give her. She was willing to do whatever it took to pay her mother's treatment bills.
Kelvin stared at Luliyah's reaction calmly. He looked at her face closely and said,
"Marry me".
