Life is not fair. Some people start life at the top because of their parents while others are condemned to the bottom. Vars was part of the latter. Vars was only 5 when his parents forsook him.
He was born prematurely so he was tiny and frail. Desperate to increase their son's chances of living, they took out loans from some very punctual people. By the time Vars turned 2 he was fully healthy and even showed signs of a high level of intelligence. Even though their son was healthy and had learned to read and write by the age of 2 his parents weren't happy.
What Vars didn't know was that to save him they ended up with 3 million dollars in debt owed to the nastiest loan shark in Sahan, Franky Dresco. On the outside Franky seemed like a decent person, that is until he was ready to collect. For those 2 years, Franky added on interest for each month the debt wasn't paid until it hit a number that tingled his taste buds.
Seeing as the first 2 years of Vars' life his parents spent their time taking care of him they had no way of paying off the debt owed to Franky, so they ran. After 3 years of running from Franky, their love for Vars turned into hatred and resentment.
They were hiding in a camper inside Dark Wood Forest when Franky caught up to them. The tall dark trees blocked most sunlight from breaching the canopy. The setting made the situation feel even more grim and with no other place to run Vars' parents weren't left with many options so they did the best thing they could think of. Try to sell Vars into slavery to pay off their debt that had grown even larger due to their attempted escape.
Although Franky may have accepted this deal in the past it's too late. He was beyond angry after spending 3 years looking for them. Instead, he chose a more sinister course of action. He took the son they wanted to save so much and made him watch as he burned them alive in the camper. After the ashes were swept away he left Vars there, alone. Although Vars knew his parents didn't like him as much anymore he still loved them. With nothing to do and nowhere to go, he just held his head up and started walking.
Vars probably would have died in that forest if not for a pair of wolves that found him a day later. They were just run out of their territory by a bigger pack. In the process they lost all 4 of their pups in the chaos. The all-black male wanted to kill Vars as he was an easy meal for them after such a huge loss but the female growled and stepped in front of him.
Looking at the little boy curled under a tree sleeping with dried tears she felt a tug on her heart. She glared at the male as if saying that he better not touch the boy. With her soft white fur, she curled up beside him and sort of held him. This was the moment Vars became the son of two wolves.
It's been 13 years since then. Vars is now technically the oldest of 11 and today just so happens to be his 18th birthday.

Lounging in a tree with a tattered white tee and kids shorts that seem to be used for underwear was Vars. Getting ready to call it a night after a long day of hunting. The forest was quiet except for the chirping of crickets as if the whole forest had the same bed time.
*PEFFFTTTT*
Heard all across the world, this noise will be forever ingrained in the memories of all living beings. A booming but soft pop that sounded like a freshly opened soda.
A beam of energy shot into the air exploding in the sky with a magnificent green glow that seemed to dissipate into the clouds. All across the globe people and animals alike would be stunned by the spectacle as the clouds started to glow a bright green.
'What the hell was that,' Vars thought as he sat up in his tree and looked at the bright moon in the night sky through the trees. Below him were a pack of 12 wolves and they also looked into the sky.
*AWOOOO*
The alpha, a large black wolf about 5 feet at the head with a scar above his right eye let out a howl as he stood up. After the alpha stood up so did the rest of the pack. Noticing this Vars jumped down as it seemed the pack was about to move.
As they grouped up and prepared to go wherever the alpha was going to lead them the planet started to violently quake.
[Oh dear, looks like you humans went too far this time. Hear me all living beings, I am Gaia. Yes, the very planet you live on is talking to you. Due to the actions of a few humans, I have awakened with a few announcements. First, because of the release of Cosmic Energy before it was time many of you will die.]
After this last statement was made by the warm voice the whole pack including Vars started looking at each other worried.
[I understand that is hard to hear but for those of you that survive amazing things will happen. The flood of cosmic energy will push everything on this planet toward evolution ahead of schedule. This will be a new era for you all. I have broken the language barrier so that all with sentient beings will be able to communicate. Also, those that survive tonight will be given a Chronicle and I will explain more to help make things easier to understand. Now for my final announcement. I will go back to sleep after I'm done talking. While I slumber I also will be growing and evolving. You will have to deal with the changes on your own as I will only wake once again when Narkaz is united under one banner or if my safety is in jeopardy. I look forward to the day I meet your Sovereign.]
Just as Gaia's voice began to disappear the green clouds began to rumble. The rumbling turned into lightning and the lightning led to a tyrannical downpour of green droplets. The weird thing about these droplets is that they seemed to pass through the trees without getting them wet.
The alpha turned to the group and instead of hearing a low growl or howl like he usually does this time Vars heard words.
"Clearly, there is no escape from this. I have no idea what we're dealing with. Whatever happens, we will persevere."
After hearing what the gruff voice had to say everyone looked up into the clouds with determined faces and let the rain shower them. To Vars, the rain felt like a sweet kiss good night. One moment he's in a dense forest and the next he's in complete darkness.
